You don’t know what training is. Training is not learning to do anything or the most ideal outcome from a rosy perfect world perspective. Training is taking a few objectives, in this case just survival, and accomplishing them. In which case the officers were perfectly trained, evidently.

So, of course, I’m pretty sure the “problem” here is what little we know and people automatically–not without justification–assuming the worst, especially since people have the bad habit nowadays of assuming that just because cameras are nigh-ubiquitous that we’ll always have (untainted, clear) video of what happens. Yeah…that’s not going to happen any time soon–thank Satan–even with all idiotic and frankly disturbing drone bullshit as of late.
I guess this case also being in Texas is a problem as far as jumping the gun to worst case “police fucked up!” scenarios go given how gun-happy that state is, but meh. You don’t storm into a police station openly brandishing a weapon and not expect to get fatally AHVB’d, even if you’re white and have a vagina.
Trust me, I realized this before you made your comment a while back. It’s pretty evident since it’s not like body cameras are some radically new implement that just came about post-Ferguson-shooting in 2014. Hell, it was evident even in some of the public discussion that happening in between all the talk about race, especially after what happened with the Eric Garner thing in your very city where there was video–not a body camera, but still–of the entire incident and the cop(s) in question got off scot-free.
Sure, they’ll help (in theory), but the people who think they’ll magically fix the problems police have with various communities and vice versa as well as singly fix corruption are just deluding themselves like they always do with regards to police “they’re colorblind civil servants” matters. At best, body cameras will maybe fix a lot of police incompetence and antagonizing and give more evidence for accountability beyond slap-on-the-wrist administrative leave when they (really) fuck-up, but I’m not holding my breath about even that much (read: little).
Those videos and those police training videos clearly show that if you have enough space to draw and aim a gun, then you also have a enough space to draw your nightstick, pepper spray or TAZER. Thanks for proving even further that they cops didn’t need to shoot this girl.
