In most states in america they do, especially in texas. A black chick killed some dude at the gas station in houston in the summer of 2013 with a rifle because he was threatening her with a pocket knife and acting crazy in general. Dude died, and she was never charged to my knowledge. She actually eventually left the scene after shooting him and taking pictures of the crime scene. You can find the video easily on the internet.
Many states have varying castle doctrine laws, and a majority of the usa if i remember correctly, essentially allow you to protect yourself from any perceived threat with deadly force. States like maryland are equal or lesser force. So if they have a knife, you cannot shoot them unless they were really about to take you out. There is a duty to reatreat in Maryland. So if someone breaks into your house, and you have a door you can escape, and instead you stick around just to try to kill someone, they might question why you didnt run first. A good lawyer could get you out of that easily, but im just saying, thats how maryland roles. Maryland is like, okay, why didnt you run away when they where following you and saying they were going to beat the crap out of you. Why did you stop, turn around, and beat 3 people into a coma. Its kinda silly. lol. I grew up in m.d, so i read up on that shit pretty early on in my days there. I was surprised how fufu the law was on self defense.

Illinois, florida, texas, most of the south, etc… If someone pulls a knife on you in public and advances towards you, you can freely shoot them dead and its justified. You can kill on perceived threats in a good portion of the usa. You can basically act like a police officer in a ton of states, and people kinda dont realize the power they actually do have.
I think most people in the south already knew this, we just had a big national wakeup call with the zimmerman case. Where it was like wait, you can instigate some shit, and then kill someone as a normal citizen, and not be immediately arrested and charged with murder.
when your assailant has a deadly weapon, within a certain distance of you, lethal force is required over tazing which could prove ineffectual, or if you don’t succeed with our attack, you’re left defenceless while you reload, or pull out a different/better weapon.
Tazing should be used to take down unarmed people who are getting uppity. Any weapon you are wielding should get you a gun pointed at your face.
The only problem they’d have is if your gun is illegally owned, and if the person had already put the knife away and ended the confrontation before you shot them. Don’t make suppositions and assume the evil police will fuck you over just because you’re black. Follow the law, KNOW the law (don’t do the “in MY mind, it shoulda been ok” shit a lot of black people do, then find out the hard way they fucked up legally), and you’ll be fine.

In the meantime, I find it “humorous” how all this talk of body cameras came up last year and yet a lot of the police shootings of late have had the cameras malfunction or “something”. Clearly, more surveillance will fix the issue.
People have no idea how dangerous the knife is in most situations an assailant with a knife can kill someone with a gun. Cops try to stay outside of a 20 foot range because most bullet proof vests are meant to stop bullets, not knives, and it only takes 1 good stab to kill an officer. Closer than 20 feet and you will likely get stabbed before a shot can be fired. A double action trigger pull is not a good matchup closer than that considering the stopping power of the average .40 cal or 9mm round.
