She knew what she was doing, suicide by police. A knife is a lethal weapon, the police are not going to play nice when you start brandishing it in front of them. The only reason this is making the news at all is the fact it was a young girl, who are still a sacred cow to many people. If this had been a male at the same age no one would even bat an eye.

Nah you’re not getting it. It’s a fact that cops treat white girls better. If they start killing the white girls the rest of us are in serious, serious trouble.
What you’re thinking is the cops are no longer caring about that white chick privilege, but I don’t believe that’s the case. I think they just don’t value any human life, so all of us are in serious danger. If they’re quick to kill young white girls, do you really think they will hesitate to cap the rest of our asses? Heck like they even hesitate now?

Saw someone post these on a forum where they’re arguing that the police should’ve masterfully disarmed her.
People need to realize that police are trained to respond to the threat of lethal force with lethal force. A knife is a lethal weapon and once she pulled it, she brought it to that level. They are shown videos like that and others that demonstrate what happens when a police officer doesn’t take a threat seriously, to drive home the point that the officers who underestimate a risk or a threat are putting their own lives in peril.
How come when a dude is unarmed they’re quick to taze them, but when somebody has a knife or they claim they have a knife they just shoot them?
This is precisely what tazers are for.
Tasers are not for handling a situation where lethal force is involved, they can miss or fail to stop the suspect which is not an ideal option once lethal force comes into play. Once deadly force or the potential of deadly force is present, officers are trained to, and will respond with deadly force. Tasers are used to handle people who are in some way resisting the police, but are not posing any lethal danger. If anything the usage and qualification of the usage of tasers is more questionable than the PDs guidelines on how to handle lethal force due to how quickly officers are allowed to resort to them. Furthermore, many police officers do not even carry tasers, as it is an equipment/supply issue.
If someone pulls a knife on me, and I shoot them as a civilian, what do you think would happen to me? I guarantee the cops and courts won’t accept the “lethal force” argument and will drag me through the system anyway.
Depends. There was a reason Zimmerman wasn’t charged until the media storm happened. If the police determine that you were acting in legitimate self defense they won’t charge you and you will never go through the courts, which happens frequently. Considering that this was a seventeen year old girl, however, you’d probably be charged with SOMETHING because of how this country works, politically, though not (theoretically) legally. If anything I feel that shows that the country is too weak rather than too hard, as a citizen should have just as much right to kill a person brandishing a lethal weapon regardless of their gender as a police officer does. The threat is the same, and the response is justified due to the level of that threat.
