We Shall Never Surrender - The Devil May Cry 4 Thread - Come on, babes. Let's rock!

???

You need to go back to the area with the waterfall.

Yeah I figured that out.

Any tips on how to beat that big ass statue thinger on mission 18?

You have to destroy the blue objects around his body. It’s a lot more complicated than it sounds. First you’ll have to keep jumping around the platforms till you find a switch (the one that you have to attack multiple times) to a large cannon. The cannon will stun the boss getting you close enough to strike the targets. Also, theres another cannon that will stun him well. Eventually you’ll be able to destroy most of the objects, expect for the one on the chest. What is left, the real boss fight will start.

I got an S, and I ended up using E&I instead of Pandora (I hate Pandora and will actively avoid it unless I need its flight mode for something).

Yeah. I played this stupid-ass mission like 10 times in a row to get an S ranking. Here’s what you do:

Start out by going to the left jump pad. Avoid the armors for now. The jump pads work almost randomly because the Savior can destroy whatever platforms around and change your trajectory; if you’re lucky, you will reach a platform with a cannon on the bottom-right. Use that cannon to shoot the Savior in the face and knock his ass down.

When that bitch falls, continue going left from jump pad to jump pad, smashing any blue crystals you see (for the ones you can’t reach with melee, I used Gunslinger E&I jump shots). Also take this time to up your style points by fighting the armors that get in your way. Repeat this until you’ve smashed all the crystals you can get (there is only one you can’t get this way). It’s okay to leave all of his arm crystals intact too.

After that, hop around until you find one of two laser cannons. Activate it and wait for the Savior to slam the laser with his hand and stun himself. If it’s his right arm, run up there and smash the two crystals on the way. If it’s his left arm, do the same, but stick around to shoot at the crystal on his head. This is the best way to destroy that one.

Once you get all the crystals, he will start to power up for a super laser attack, so just keep running right until you get the the next cutscene to start the real battle.

Most of the time when this battle starts, the Savior will try its super laser again. Go right while he’s charging and wait on the center of the next platform (you can shoot at him for more style points while you wait). Run up to the edge of the platform away from the screen and wait for him to rise up right in front of you. As soon as his chest comes up, do the most damaging combo you can (I DT and switch to Dark Slayer before the chest comes up, and then I do Gilgamesh’s Kick-13 combo, topped off with a mid-air Yamato slash). Then you’ll need to run-'n-gun until the opportunity presents itself again.

Eventually, you’ll do enough damage to knock his ass down. When this happens, take the jump pad in front of you to land right in front of his chest. If you want an S for time, you will need to kill him right there, so do as much damage as you can. Here’s what I recommend. DT, Swordmaster, Gilgamesh. Run up and do Real Impact (Shin-Shoryuken with back+R1+style button) into dive kick, Kick-13 while switching to Dark Slayer, and then finishing with a mid-air Yamato combo. If you still have time, do another Kick-13.

Hopefully, you will win right then and there. If not, the Savior will get back up and waste your time some more. If he’s really low on health, though, stay in DT and shoot at his chest from far away. You might just get enough extra damage to finish him.

:u: Got it! Thanks.
Now mission 20 is giving me a hard time.
Can’t seem to hit old man. He’s always dodging my attacks. :bluu:

I wish you could watch the credits roll in the Story Theater. I like that part, but in order to see it you’ve got to go and whip on Sanctus’s ass every single time.

I just noticed something about the old man when you fight him. You’ll know when you can finally hit him so he won’t block your attacks when the 2 orbs in front of him move up behind him.

SoS difficulty is kicking my ass. i can’t even get passed mission 01 versus dante . this being my first dmc i went ahead and chose to play on devil hunter difficulty. it wasn’t too bad… it was tough but in a good way. a few frustrating moments which is a good thing cause i haven’t played a game that made me frustrated in a while. definitely glad i bought this game.

Here’s how I took out Old Man Sanctus:

  1. Crush his shield.
  2. Grab him to release his block (you only need to do this once).
  3. Cut his ass up and finish with a grab.
  4. Crush his shield again and wait around until he teleports to the floor.
  5. DT in his face.
  6. Cut his ass up and finish with a grab.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 until he powers up.
  8. Dodge his shit until he tries a ground combo.
  9. DT in his face, cut him up, and finish with a DT grab.

Oh, and I’m actually not disappointed with Nero’s identity.

Nero

Spoiler

I actually like that he’s just some other guy who happened to have been born with demonic power (why not? There are demons other than Sparda anyway) instead of yet another son of Sparda, who was somehow missing and unknown to Dante and Vergil until now.

Yeah being that I am not very good at DMC games I started on the easier difficulty and it seems to be alittle to easy really.

My problem is always catching up to the old fucker. My best chance is if he just happens to back himself in a corner. My second best is catching up to him as he’s about to restore his shield, and busting on him before that happens. Other than that, he’s got some stupid good runaway.

Actually…

Actually…

[details=Spoiler]The game implies that he’s a descendant of Sparda and has his blood, so he’s probably at least a half-brother to Dante and Vergil. This implies that Sparda wasn’t quite faithful to Eva (well, he is a demon after all…) but the timeline is still really screwy.

Needs more explanation.[/details]

Yeah, I probably would also like a bit more detail regarding that, but I’m at least fairly pleased with who he is (and, more importantly, how he plays, though I still prefer playing as Dante).

where do you find background info on nero?

:u: Watch the cutscenes.

And yeah. I’d hate to face this fuck and his million tracking fireballs in Hell or Hell mode.

yea i agree. the hard part was making him block so i could buster him. taking his shield out was easy (grab until you got close then slash x3 in the air + Split + one more hit) but once you did that he’d throw fireballs at you and knock you down. you have to hit him one more time without his shields to force him to block but it was so tough with the fireballs knocking me down :annoy:. that one last hit to make him block was the toughest part for me. 2/3 times it would end up with old man regaining his shields.

wtf is hell or hell mode? is that even harder than dmd? i think ima play son of sparda then call it quit

yeah i’m definitely not gonna touch hell or hell mode. That mode would probably make me want to punch a wall. Cause i guarantee you’ll get hit on some bullshit in that game.

I can tolerate heaven or hell just cause its one kill for both sides and it was fun playing it in DMC3.

I mean seriously in Hell or Hell mode where one hit can kill you but not the enemy, can you imagine trying to fight Berial,Echidna,Credo,or even Sanctus without getting hit. That shits fucking impossible.

It’s similar to Heaven Or Hell mode, only you’re the only one who can die in one hit. Enemies have regular health.
