We Shall Never Surrender - The Devil May Cry 4 Thread - Come on, babes. Let's rock!

Sep, did the video help with the secret mession?

I don’t know. I didn’t end up watching it, since I read Az’s spoiler note right afterward. Thanks, though.

Ok. I’ll try to find the info if it’s in here somewhere. Just need some basics on it. I’m on mission 6 and haven’t figured out a decent way to use it at all.

From what I read the shield method is the preferred method. Just watch out because of course you lose style points for getting hit and sometimes you’ll get hit through the shieldmob.

So it’s pretty much what Az said. It’s just that I don’t even have the shield yet.

It’s great to see Dante on an Next Gen console, with polished and deadly moves

Started playing the game last night. I’m only on Mission 3 right now, but it’s pretty good so far and it’s hard to nitpick things that are wrong with it. I’ll play some more after work.

It’s like from lowest to strongest. And you can tell the difference if you look at the moves closely. The regular slash attacks prob wont look too much different but the special moves are. Try using the special moves when you charge your exceed. Also having that one ability (I think it’s called max act), the one where you have to push the exeed button right after you do an attack to either max your exceed out to 3 or just 1 depending on your timing… that ability is godlike. If you’re timing is good you can do crazy damage and sick combos. I got my first SSS combo using that but the timing was insane.

And I think I’m going to just beat the rest of the game now so I can play on the harder difficulties. I finally got Dante now and he’s the best. His combo variations are just madness and very creative.

I think im on mission 7 now, i’ve just been playing through the game not repeating any levels, but i do wanna get some more combos and stuff for Nero. I guess i’ll just go back and beat stage 1 and 2 a couple times over. Level 3 excede is sick:wgrin: Do it on a group of guys and you go strait to an A or S, once i get Max act, geting style points is gonna be 2 easy.

I wanna gop back home and play some more Devil May Crack

yeah it has to be some type of timing cause i was trying to do that twice when i fought him and just gave up trying to do it.

anyone know how to throw the lance back at Credo?

Its not different aside from being stronger than Exceed 1. But aesthetically speaking:

-more flame
-more hits
-more range/higher in the air

If you have Exceed to try to do the same moves with two bars and then one. Exceed 2 looks more damaging and stronger.

Anyway. When will I be able to purchase purple souls? Nero’s DT with the Yamato is ridiculous shit.

Does no one have tips on beating Dante 2? :frowning:

I shot Blue Rose till I got close to him, then I rolled away from one of his attacks, then countered with some DT’d Red Queen slashes and DT Buster.

Snatching him from the ground while you’re airborn works pretty well.

can anybody give specifics on what automatic does again?

Last I checked when performing a launch attack(:d:+/) automatic does the followup for you instead of you doing it manually. So it makes certain combos easier for lazy people.

I have a question about style switch with Dante. I have watched a lot of vids of DMC4. Is it possible to style switch in a combo and keep the combo going?

Finding ways to land the Devil Bringer is the best way to deal damage to him, especially during DT. He dodges your attacks into stinger. So after you attack, a quick jump worked for me to dodge stinger into your own attacks.

Stuck:
Theoretically, you can possibly play the game and never screw around with Exceed. Theoretically. However, if you can use it well its a powerful tactic, and when the game amps up the difficulty you’re going to WANT to have all the powerful tactics you can at your disposal.

Here’s an example. Suppose you’ve been combo’ing an enemy up in the air. That’s fine and all, but you notice a nice congregation of demons gathering below, just waiting for you to come down. So perhaps you come down with Split, lay your sword into one. But, you’re still surrounded by demons who want a piece of you. But, if you can come down with EX Split, you’ll take out a wider range of enemies for more breathing room. EX2 Split is more powerful, and so on.

The Dante 2 Fight:
I would recommend going into this fight with Air Hike. I’d jump, and Dante would mirror my jump to counter with his Helm Buster. So then I’d double-jump, and I could either come down and nail Dante with the Split, or grab and throw him from the air. Also, if you have Table Hopper and great timing you can S-Groove away from his slashes and try to counter. Keep in mind that Dante usually doesn’t swing his sword unless he KNOWS you’re in range. The man just doesn’t whiff.

**Anyone contacted ADV about the case for the anime yet? Where do you go to do that?

Az: I can do it a little now, but how do you get a level 2 or higher charge? I just know how to hit the button after an attack to get a single level.**

If you press the button while Nero is not attacking, he will manually rev up his sword. If you’re not in the middle of a battle you can just stand there and rev up until you get to level 3. You can rev up during a jump as well. Also, if you have level 1 and you do an EX Streak, if you hold down the button Nero will just pause before executing the move. You can also rev here.

In order to do level 2/3 moves you have to purchase Exceed2/3.

There’s an ability you can buy, Max-Act, which allows you to instantly get level 3 if you IR after an attack. The timing for it is really tight - think of it as the red parry of DMC4. The best thing about EX moves though is that you can IR them as well. So theoretically, you could come down with an EX3 Split, IR that, and then further clear everyone out of the way with an EX3 Streak. I’ve done this with level 1, but I haven’t got the Max-Act timing down yet.
