We Shall Never Surrender - The Devil May Cry 4 Thread - Come on, babes. Let's rock!

Based on PSM’s review, i can sorta understand the complaints for backtracking. Given the fact that Dante visits areas and fights bosses that Nero has already overcome.

I’m still not too worried about it.

Everything sounds great so far. Can’t wait to play it. And fuck all the hate on “backtracking”, the point isn’t to smash demons in all new and varied surroundings…the point is to go smash some demons. Which is what I’m gonna do when the game comes out.

I sooooooooooo want to look at DeathReaper’s Nero spoiler. But I can’t. I mustn’t. Must…wait…

People are complaining about “back-tracking?” That’s just dumb. You had to back track in all the other DMC titles. I’d think people would be happy to get a chance to kill more demons?

It’s not even backtracking this time, if I understand correctly. You just get to replay some areas with another character (which makes plenty of sense because, you know, Dante and Nero are exploring the same fucking place). It’s not like you even have to go back to get stuff.

it’s disappointing to read that the camera isn’t improved. it may sound silly, but poor cameras are deal-breakers for me =/

But what, exactly, is wrong with the camera? All the reviews just bash it without really explaining it. Is it “bad” because it’s a fixed camera (the way it always was in the series)? Or does it move too quickly? Or is it Ninja Gaiden style, where it thinks it knows better than you do what you want to see?

What 3d action-adventure game doesn’t have backtracking? Ninja Gaiden, God of War, Devil May Cry, Onimusha, Resident Evil 4…I just hate those missions where the entire theme is “time to go all the way back through this area to insert this key to move the bridge again” like Mission 10 in DMC3.

I hate game reviewers.

“Backtracking sucks but we love metroid!”

Yeah, you wont ever find someone bitching about backtracking in Castlevania. Oops, I meant “exploring with your new-found abilities”

The camera seemed the same to me actually. No problems. Then again, I didn’t have any trouble with it in DMC3 either.

Game reviewers are universally awful with things like backtracking and other things. Like they will give a game a lower score because it is more of the same but then its 10 FOR DAT MADDEN.

That review is stupid.

Jae: “this Game Is Better Than Most Games Out Right Now, But It Is Just Like It’s Prequel So We Will Lower The Score!11!11!”.

Read the whole review. Here’s the best part, IMHO.

So yeah, I’m not worried anymore.

Also, regarding the camera…

Sounds like its the same camera its always been. This isn’t even that big of a deal.

Sometimes I agree with that. Viewtiful Joe 2 was almost exactly like the first Viewtiful Joe, and for that it felt like a much weaker game.

My only complaint for DMC’s camera has always been during boss fights. Griffin 3 was always a pain in the ass because the camera never wanted to show me where he was. Some DMC3 boss fights could be harder than they are supposed to be because the camera decides to randomly not focus on the boss attacking me (very bad when fighting Beowulf).

I hope the camera is fixed during boss fights. Any other time I don’t really care how it is.

And I’m wondering what’s the deal with that weird tranny looking lady.

^lock-on, damn you! Griffin 3 camera was gay.

that was because they put improvements in places where they did not matter. And introduced new concepts that…sucked. (sylvia)

:u: Real quick, DMC3 is not the prequel to DMC4; it is the predecessor of it. The root of “prequel” implies that it is a sequel set in the chronological past.

True, but it was still the same damn game…just worse. Same fucking moves with the same fucking tricks and the same fucking plot…I was never so disappointed in a sequel in my life. It felt more like an expansion pack than a brand new game I pre-ordered, waited months for, and then paid 40+ dollars for.

Are you referring to what I said? If so…uh…k?
