Zhi is the fing man. He cracks me up with his off the wall jokes, and seems like a cool dood. If I could have one Asian friend JUST ONE…it would be him.
When he’s actually talking about the game, Zhi is probably the most informative commentator in the FGC. I used to love when James Chen and Seth would do commentary, but that was probably more to do with their likeable personalities and voices. A lot of what they would say about the game was absolute garbage. Completely erroneous information on frame data, hit and hurt boxes, etc. When Zhi and Xian do commentary and are actually discussing the action, they give really good breakdowns of what’s going on. And if they don’t know, they are honest and say “I don’t know anything about this matchup” instead of rambling a load of nonsense like they know what they’re talking about.
But yeah…less sexist, gay and dick jokes would definitely be a plus - especially if it’s on a stream with its reputation to consider.
I like Xian on the mic a lot. Zhi is great too but the only thing about is commentary is when his pop culture references start feeling a little hamfisted and forced it’s groan worthy. That and the creeper factor of his girl commentary, I dunno why but Rockefeller comes off way less creepy when he does it XD

All this talk of professional/unprofessional commentary makes me wonder what people from SC/Dota/LoL think about FG commentary. Are they amused or bothered?
Zhi, please don’t start doing suite-and-tie commentary. Your fun commentary is the only thing that makes me tune into the SSF4 games sometimes, and you’re chemistry with Mike Ross is particularly delicious (you two should definitely do an excellent adventure together!).

Come on guys, a little flavor never hurt anyone. The absolute best thing about Zhi’s commentary is that Xian is so comfortable with him, and Zhi can lead him through commentating so he can just drop knowledge. I’ve learned an absolute ton about characters I previously had no experience with, just because Xian is on the mic with Zhi.
But above all else, respect the work and the dedication. This guy has basically given himself over to the FGC, mind and body. You don’t like his particular brand of commentary? That’s fine, to each their own I suppose, but to say that Zhi is a detriment to this community is a joke. If you think Zhi is a detriment, then what the hell do YOU do for the FGC?
Zhi, you’re not my favourite commentator, and you were totally rude to me one time at Canada Cup, but don’t change who you are and what you do over some idiotic comments on SRK. People who care enough about the FGC to complain about stuff like this need to find some other way to contribute, cuz if they don’t contribute, their opinion doesn’t matter imo

Having never heard him on commentary, but judging from these comments, I assume he needs to go easy on those “jokes”
Zhi is one of the only mainstream commentators I would watch a non-ST stream for. My only gripe is that he could be less apologetic, but I guess he has Capcom to worry about now. I hope if he ever gets fed up with humorless nerds, that he quits to commentate on ST streams with guys like Serj, people who are in it for fun and love rather than wanting to make a game a career or being concerned with measuring up to e-sports money because we’re realistic grown ass job having men (sometimes).
