Me and some bros were watching the stream when you were talking to the cosplay Sakura. We thought it was hilarious, but we couldn’t figure out if you were intentionally being creepy as hell or just really awkward. Can you give us any insight? For instance, the question about her bag boys sniffing her panties when she wasn’t looking, or taking a bit too much interest on how she combats upskirt shots?
When I’m on the mic during an intermission, my goal is just to fill the airwaves with enough banter to carry over until the next marquee match. For Finals, there was a lot of time to inbetween because we needed to give a buffer in the event of deuce. I was genuinely interested in the cosplay talk and had never met her formally before and I believe the conversation would have been more or less the same off the mic for me.
I tried to keep the rest of the gameplay commentary professional as I was instructed to and suggested to do.
And you did. Ironically, even though your commentary was spot-on technically and very professional in-matches, I actually missed the hilarious style you imposed during the Daigo x Infiltration FT10. I rewatched that a few times just to laugh. The arsonist or Mighty No.9 jokes etc. got me good
I think Zhi is hilarious , he brings his own flavour . I think sometimes maybe his indulgence in satire and sarcasm may be misconstrued as rudeness . He is knowledgeable about the game and seems to gel pretty well with other commentators. The fact he speaks japanese is a huge plus, as he can share with us insight from the japanese players.
During the daigo/Infil exhibition when Infiltration fans himself and picks up his water bottle and puts it beside his ear and Zhi says " Oh my goodness…he’s phoning a friend" had me rolling XD.
Myself personally I’ve always enjoyed Zhi’s commentary. It’s like a side game to try and catch and understand all the references and jokes he’s throwing out during matches. Some of it is probably lost on non-Americans. But I’m American so I’m good. I’m also glad you actually took the time to come here and clarify some things for people with questions with no resentment at all. You didn’t have to do any of that, so it’s appreciated.
BTW, you commented my match at Final Round. I was the first guy to face PR Rog on stream. I rewatched the match after it got uploaded to youtube. It sounds like you and Cameraman thought I was Riceta from Canada at first except I was playing Evil Ryu and not Blanka. I’ve had this name for a very long time so I’m no copy cat(not that you made any accusations), just wanted to mention that.
Hello good sir. Thanks for your remarks.
Yes I remember that match. Sorry for the mixup between Rice_Eater and rice eata. I am trying to cut down on carbohydrates so I’ve given up rice but it’s difficult to be faithful when you live in Asia.
Man, if you think that Zhi is somehow absolutely disgusting, disrespectful or annoying, then you shouldn’t even go to events. The color IS a part of the FGC, there’s almost no bad blood on what anyone says, but I doubt there’s any single scene in the world outside of Japan where people just sit down, play and leave, and if there is then I definetly don’t want to go there.
Good sir, you need to come to Japan sometime, hit up some of the local, inner city arcades (the good ones or the scummy ones) when they have local tournaments shit gets raucous. Specially in Osaka.
Yeah, that and the fact that many in the US (and other similar colonial countries - Australia, NZ and even the UK) have yet to learn is that big/more doesn’t always mean better.
People count calories from an early age in Japan and standardised caloric intake via the school lunch programs available in private/public schools combined with a range of usually heavily subsidised physical activities through club means that kids tend to move more than their western counterparts.
