Two questions

  1. after a cr.mk os against bison’s teleport, is there enough time to hit him with U2 on reaction?
  2. what are some pressure options against balrog on wakeup? i keep getting hit by ex rush and upper
  1. No. Only OS EX Rocks leads to U2.
  2. Throw, OS cr.MK in some situations.

I hate to be that guy that suggests an idea without the ability to entirely help, but the OP is really outdated. Isn’t it time for an update or new thread?

game is 5 years old. the player base gets fewer and fewer. time / effort / value is not in the favor to justify that work. I mean, if someone feels like it, it’s of course appreciated, but it’s just that not many will make use of it. most players are by now, quite decent or stopped playing. new players are rather rare.

When facing vega, what are my go to options for getting in on him. I find myself getting clipped by sometging almost every time. is the trick making him come to me?

jumping in is a good option seeing as vega has shit anti airs

and on a completely unrelated note I found a hakan setup. Ex ruff back dash wait for a second then j.hk for a cross up. (not sure if anyone has found it out yet)

Most Vegas I play use st. HK, and when I went into the lab, it beats or trades with most of my jump ins. I had the most success with j. MP. Is there something better to go with? or a certain timing?

If someone is just throwing out pokes all willy nilly, just jump. Sure it’s POSSIBLE for Vega to anti-air, but don’t remove your option of jumping just because it’s a bad habit. The fact that Vega’s main anti-air isn’t a DP means he can’t stick out a poke and still expect to anti-air you if you jumped over it. Even if your jump-in is blocked, you’re in there.

Also if you make them come to you remember that jump back lk beats wall jump and zonk when you see his roll in a blockstring

What is the best punish for Rufus’s ex messiah kick other than non reversal U1?

When Momochi plays vs Rufus, he does reversal hk. ruffian which trades with lk follow-up and beats the others.

man cody seems like he can handle most match up fairly well with the right info at hand.

Long time follower and Cody player with a few particular questions:

  1. Is there any particular strat any of you follow when dealing with a Zangief on wakeup? For me, I just seem to sit and take a beating whenever he goes for a crossup and I just block and eat a SPD.

  2. How do you deal with Viper on wakeup? Since there are hardly any on PSN, whenever I come across one and im on defense, I abuse c.mk to avoid burn kick crossups. Is that a solid way option on wakeup or should I be doing something else?

Ex zonk is an excellent tool for dealing with zangief cross up pressure.Ex zonk can’t be thrown, is FADC-able, etc. Best used after the cross up is blocked.

Do you mean on Viper’s wake up or yours?

On mine. Honestly, when it comes to defense period my whole mentality just shatters and I tend to throw out pokes, c.mk under all jump ins. I am just concerned if this is proper or should I just be patient and block/tech throws. I assume its diff per matchup, but i am not 100% sure.

The only time cr.Mk is good in that MU is when she does a BK pretty high in the air. If she does it meaty, you’ll be able to avoid it but she’ll punish you with a throw.
Apart from that, I haven’t got much to say about that match up, just don’t get knocked down, haha!
