Frankly I don’t have a problem vs viper. I feel like Cody handles her very well since having a DP vs viper doesn’t really help. Just recognize the ranges where she can go for a tick throw and recognize that her ground game is very weak and capitalize.
Honestly, you can’t play scared versus Makoto. It’s what she wants…much like Cody. I immediately get in her face and I look to get her knocked down. She is terrible defense wise.
I wouldn’t cr. MK under her jump ins. That doesn’t teach her not to jump in. You need to HK Ruffian her and make her not want to jump.
Thanks for the tip. You are right about HK Ruffian. I am mentally pushing myself to hit that move on jump ins because people get free anything off me because I dont punish jumps enough. Thanks for the tips guys.

If you don’t have time to watch everything (shame on you) watch the last two rounds at 27min mark lol
Insane :).
I respect Sasaki’s level of patience.
Those matches made me so hype that I went to training mode to practice that cl.MP into U2. If mp is a counter hit, I find it pretty easy to combo into ultra but if it’s not countert then it’s damn hard.
Also, I think Sasaki plinks the 3punch button with HK. His input are way to clean and consistent, I wouldn’t believe it if someone told me he actually plinked that by pressing all three punches: he has got to be using macros. It’s still pretty hard though.
To pull it off, one must remember that it is the same timing as when you want to link cr.HP, but having to input two qcb somehow messes up with your sense of timing (it probably has to do with your hands coordination or something). One last thing: one should always press the buttons and leave his hands on them so that if you screw up, you have less chances of getting the ultra coming out later because of the negative edge.
I’m not sure if I have time to keep practicing it, but damn those it feels so good when you pull it off!
Anyway, GGs to Sasaki, that was awesome stuff as usual.
Yeah man i literally jumped off my chair with the second cl.mp, u2 and that part where nagao wiffs a cr.mk, he walks forward during the recovery (feels like an eternity) and cl.mp counterhits. TOO SICK.
I call the walk forward cl.mp ch the momochi special. The double cl.mp, walkforward, cl.mp is the momochi stupendo.
I actually do that against a few people and it does work pretty well. Well, it only works against people that know about Cody’s frame data.
But yes, I was like OMFGWATFOAUJZNA1!!11!! too
Fun fact: If a Gouken player ever combos into Hk tatsu while you’re in the corner, you can punish it on hit with a wakeup bad spray. If you have 2 bars and Ultra 1, you can do ~400 damage for getting combo’d
Note that this doesn’t work if Gouken does Lk, Mk, or Ex tatsu.
EDIT: Cody can also super cancel into Lk or Mk super for a cool 350

What are all of cody’s blockstrings?
They are almost all in the combo thread.
just saw momochi do corner ex ruff -> dash -> whiff s.mp -> cross up j.mk on guy in his evo pools. anyone know if this is unblockable? or is this old tech?
It is a cross up…
Im not really familiar with the guy matchup. can he mix it up with a fake cross up or something? it kinda seems like a waste of meter when you could just go a hp CU. Or is it also a safe against guy’s 4f reversal?
No I don’t think you can mix it with a fake cross up (at least with that timing). But the advantage is that Ex Tatsu whiffs if he goes for it. Plus, with the current state of the game, it seems like simply going for a cross up may be a sound mixup haha!
lol ya everyone and their grandmother knows the j.hp non cross up on ryu now. I’m trying to thing who else this works on. Isn’t it guile, ken, e.ryu? and i think it works as a normal cross up on cody
It works on all the shotos (except Dan) and against Dictator if you use HK.
