I’d rate the mu slightly in bision’s facor. he can put the fight totally in the pace he desieres with his tools and speed. however, cody can react to them quite decently. 5.5 - 4.5 imo.
chun can be tough. tbh, I want her away instead of dealing with her close range. her floaty jump makes her easy to anti air, and rocks’ arc prevent an overhead kick over them for the most part. s.hk and s.hp of her are great poke where cody can’t do much. you can slider under s.hk tho. but she wouldnt do it at such a range usually. once you score a knock down, I’d go for a little pressure game, in particular without meter. most chun players will mash dat back dash (because it’s so goooood) so be aware of OS. I even bait it often when i simply press nothing after a f.mp etc and buffer u2 to catch them on reaction.

hardest mu: Gouki 6.5-3.5, could be easy a 7-3 tho. cody is training mode for a good gouki player.
yun is a worse mu… but that’s by default because yun is so incredible broken, vanilla sagat looks like dan to him. other then that, cody does quite okay against nearly everyone else. at least not to a great disadvantage.

Bad chuns: AA and focus pokes/hasanshu

Good chuns: Stay away from the poking game. Hunt for a knockdown and safejump OS bingo against backdash/EX bird.

Coming from an akuma player: Cody’s normal AAs actually give akuma a hard time.
I agree with him. b. mp, st. hk, and cr. mk work very well vs demon flip. Cody can keep the shotos out pretty easy IMO. I think Cody - Akuma is 6-4 in Akuma’s favor

Also, for the person who asked about Ken. You need to outfootsie Ken and get him to jump. Even decent players get the urge to jump when you’ve got a good ground game. When he’s got you in the guessing game(post-tatsu mixup), it’s (like someone else said about Bison) rock-paper-scissors. Here’s what beats what.
Cody Ken
backdash > throw
delayed cr. tech > throw and shoryu
EX criminal upper > throw/tick throw
EX Bingo > shoryu, throw, and tick throw (don’t do this often or ken will just block and punish)
Backdash < shoryu
cr. tech < shoryu or delayed shoryu (delayed shoryu beats late cr. tech)
blocking > shoryu
blocking < throw/tick throw

keep in mind when ken has 2 bars, he’s probably going to srk > FADC, so don’t press buttons. HOWEVER, if you do EX bingo, it will cause the shoryu to whiff which leaves him at a disadvantage beacause he can’t FADC.

lol, I’ve yet to met a good akuma how does an unsafe demon flip outside of a cancel. it’s about the wakeup game. cody can’t do shit and akuma has everything to catch cody off guard, aswell as outpoke him and out turtle him. cody can’t Focus goukis s.hk due to his crappy backdash where other character can backdash to safety. that is never a 6-4. never, ever, ever, ever :stuck_out_tongue: on a side note, cody’s AA r useless when the gouki player is smart enough to send an air hadoken in front of him. no good player (not limited to gouki) does a random frontal jump in for no reason.

It’s not much different than other characters that have to deal with his vortex, or other characters that can pressure cody a lot. because of a lack of good reversal, cody is forced to block a lot. I agree with 6-4 but I can’t agree that it’s worse than that.

other character actually have TOOLS to deal with gouki, in particular on wakeup, begining with a non-sucking backdash. simple as that. pressure gives cody trouble, but that’s not the point that makes this mu so bad vs grouki. apparently you haven’t faced the wrath of a good/top gouki yet :3 - no offense. just on paper it looks so bad allready, but it’s even more bad in praxis.

edit: you must be a newer player.^^ vannila (aka normal street fighter 4) sagat was considered “S” tier. high health, 1 srk, fadc, f.hk, ultra took off about 50-60% health etc. even then, If one would compare him to ssf4ae yun he would seems like dan. that’s the statement, to show how broken yun is, not that sagat is a bad mu for cody lol.

I’ve been playing a LOT of Cody lately but the one character I can’t even get CLOSE to beating online is Makoto. She seems to fast to counter hit or even get footsies started. Once i get knocked down that’s pretty much all she wrote vs Makoto for me, any tips?

Don’t let her get in. Toss normals (with MK ruffian buffered if possible) to prevent her from dashing in and try to AA accordingly, although I agree her axe kick makes it a pain. When you score a knockdown, make sure you OS her, SPECIALLY the backdash…Rose, Ibuki, Guy and Makoto are the most backdash happy players in the history of fighting games.

LP stone is great way to keep checks on her. If she focus and dashes through, you can s.hk her face. Also, every hayate is punishable on block, although EX version is kinda dificult. Just do cr.lk xx MK ruffian or FP CU.

Oh, never try to cross her up in AE, the new fist thingy is godlike and on trade or hit it does more damage than a lot of ultras in this game lol.

Can every normal have MK RK buffered and is it an OS? Thanks for the tips though, makes a lot of sense now that I think about it.

Only cr.mp, cr.lp and cr.lk. Cr.lp is reaaaally good because it has a lot of active frames, is fast and it’s not so wiff punishable as cr.mp.

zonk vs makoto works great. schooling them that spammin s.mp / f.mp is not the way they gonna beat you.

Yeah I wasn’t using Zonk much I was going for the frame traps with f.mp and getting wrecked, thanks for all the help guys.

spiral arrow to cr.lp, st.lp, cr.lk and repeat for pressure and I can’t find a gap that wont lead to me getting stuffed

EDIT: went to practice mode and b.mp stuffs everything cammy does in the air. I just beat 2 cammies back to back online, I’m content.

c.mk works wonders in general vs bison.
a few pages before [i think, could be in another thread aswell] there were a few things about bison posted.

anti-airs and blocking and punishing for EX PC shuts down his reversal options. You’re screwed if he teleports at midscreen though.

option selecting bison on wakeup isn’t that great. just wait for the ex psycho crusher or ex devils reverse. he has too many options for you to option select. if you option select ultra, and he does ex psycho crusher, even if you get the auto correct ultra, he will still be airborne and u will only get the dust. then you will get punished for the rest of the ultra whiffing.
