Hmm I option select sometimes, usually a zonk or bingo after the backthrow safejump for backdashers, (the easiest os EVER imo). I am also familiar with how to test.

I have never OS’d a normal before, so that’s the where the confusion comes in. I will test this out and implement the technologies.

Okay, so playing against a good Ken is pretty nightmarish. Feels like the dude gets all kinds of free pressure, even moreso in AE. Halp!

(Also another shout to have these matchups consolidated in the OP. Searching through 19 pages for Ken tidbits is annoying!)

hey yeah ken can be pretty troublesome for cody cause of his pokes. Key is to be patient, get a knock down, go for safe jump set ups and bait him to jump with fake rocks. But if you try to play too much of a footsie game or really aggressive game against him it probably won’t work.

pretty much block and ex bingo works sometimes too but you have to time it properly. Cody really has to be able to keep her out and avoid knockdowns at all costs. Knockdowns is how ibuki wins, and her pokes are pretty solid too.

This match up is even more agonizing than Ryu cause of his step kick. Midscreen, do lots of cr.lk to out poke him and the occasional f.mp. Like all shotos, bingo through the cr.mk x fireball blockstring, which is even easier than Ryu’s since Kens fireball sucks. If the Ken neutral jumps a lot, get used to using b.mp and HK Ruffian to shut him down. Once you get in, uh, don’t get DP’ed.

I don’t have time to test it right now, but how is it possible that back throw, safe jump HK OS cr.HP beats Fei’s DP?? Beating chicken wing and backdash and stuff I can see, but surely not DP? And Fei players WILL be DPing there like almost all the time, especially with meter.

^that’s because you can block any flame kick in time without getting the OSed c.hp, hence the term safe jump. the c.hp os is when he back dashes or neutral jumps.

Ah, it’s one of those delayed safe jump OSes, ok. That makes more sense, lol.

c.mk is your best friend. beats out any scissor kick clean. also b.mp stuffs devils reverse, and also head stomp (and reverse followup). don’t be afraid to use it.

mh you can rush bison as you can zone/bait him. depends on the situation, the player and health / super values. he can indeed mash c.lk into between your block pressure, if u catch him doin that frequently catch him with a tick throw or spaced overhead etc. you get a feel when you can pressure with what against whom over the time.

The most frequently used blockstring with chip for Cody is something ending in LP CU. It’s not safe on everyone, but I don’t think Bison has a punish for it. Once you do get in, smack’em with a cl.MP/HP CH frametrap cause c.lk is always Bison’s normal to mash. On knockdown, make sure you’re punishing his EX psycho crusher or headstomp, but you’re out of luck if he teleports at certain distances.

Basically, don’t be impatient to punish, cause Bison’s pressure is full of baits he can punish you with, and make sure you’re hitting hard whenever you can get in.

He can cr.lk/mk xx special to punish it. At very far ranges he might not be able to though.

Worst place you can be against Bison (well, against anyone really, but it’s much worse against him) is in the corner. So take your time, eat the chip SK and wait for a mistake. They’ll probably try to dash, throw so keep an eye on that or crossup, which is your opportunity to slide under and change the situation.

Also be wary of what he does after a blocked SK. Usually, they start doing s.rh, which catches jumpers (most people’s reaction is to jump after one) and you can cr.mk or sweep if he goes for s.rh a lot. If they see you doing this, they’ll start either doing a cr.lk buffered SK, to CH your normal, or another SK, to go over it. But this means you can jump in on him or neutral jump to punish the SK. Basically it’s a rock/paper/scissors game (pun intended), just watch your opponent’s habits.

And a neat trick is to wake up with dust against psycho crushers. You can actually punish a lot of them on hit with this technique, specially the crossup ones on wakeup.

Cool that sounds like good advice. I actually don’t have too much trouble from either of the twins, so I’m guessing this is one of Cody’s harder matches?

My **personal **bad matchups are Viper, Ibuki, Akuma, Chun-li, Fei Long and the twins.

I’ll let someone better give the verdict on the dictator matchup.

It’s a hard match, but Cody’s not high tier to begin with. Personally, I don’t think Cody’s at too significant a disadvantage. Bison beats him in pressure and mobility, but his knockdown game isn’t too scary. Any match up where Cody isn’t screwed as soon as he’s knocked down is a manageable one imo.

Maybe I just have a really nasty Bison player near me lol But that seems to be one of my hardest matches.

c.mk is really good as someone has already said. blocked ex crusher can be punished with ultra 2. you can use c.mk to go under a lot of his jumpins cause he is so floaty.

Does anyone have any advice against Chun li? she is one of the few characters I have difficulty beating.
