And I attacked a lot of stuff that I think would give Cody trouble from Vega, as a former Vega myself.
I’m actually a fan of the knife as well. Everytime I pick it up, the opponent starts to play DRASTICALLY different.
I have to double check but I don’t believe EX ruffian will reach a blanka ball. It’s not a matter of speed but distance, hence why it doesn’t work when blocked low.

If you block a Blanka ball while standing, EX RK will reach.
Thanks Cicada, that’s what I thought. And you don’t need to waste an EX to punish it, LK will reach.
You’ll have to excuse this somehwat scrubby advice, and im going back on what I said aobut not mentioning zonk, but I played a good Vega who used to destroy my Sagat, and throwing out a ton of Zonks just worked so well in this match up. Vega is obviously a real annoying pokey character, so Zonk is great for dealing with the footsie game.
I also found slide will go right under the EX Wall Dive or whatever, the one that goes horizontally across the screen.
I’ll have to try that. I bet knife is good vs grapplers too but truthfully I havent experimented with the knife enough. ;(
I found Jump Back FP is good vs Jaguar Tooth because you can land on him while he recovering and dish out a combo. Verticla Jump MK will stop it mid air as well.
What do you guys feel his WORST match ups are?
So far I have the most trouble vs Chun Li, Blanka and Zangief. Chun Lis pokes are just too good, Blanka is annoying as hell when he is on the offensive and the hop will fuck up zonk timing when he is up close and a good Blanka wont do full screen ball for me to punish! Zangief is of course Zangief, one knockdown and its pretty much GGPO for Cody.
I feel he goes pretty even vs fireball characters, balrog and m.bison.
Makoto and Vega are pretty free for him so far.
oh, and i know this has been mentioned but I am still blown away by how well his fwd dash can work vs cross up attempts. it’s not 100% but seems to be a better option than backdashing in a lot of situations.
I found Chun to be just as annoying. But another 2 matchups I had a hell of a time with was Ibuki and Dhalsim. I couldn’t find a good way to keep Ibuki off me, and ended up struggling just to try to push her back. Dhalsim, on the other hand, kept me at full screen. I’m trying to figure out a way past his pokes.
As far as Vega, with Cody’s fast dash I’ve been waiting to see where Vega walldives to. If I know it’s going to be a claw or grab attempt a quick dash + U1 catches pretty well. I need to hit the lab more for this one.
dhalsim is a bitch of a matchup. i really coudlnt figure it out, except to play it like rog – take your hits where you can get them, and if he starts keeping you at mid with the pokes, just jump back and reset.

I am having so much trouble with seth and viper. Seth because all he does is play that stay away game. I can’t even get in. And viper, having so much trouble because she rushes me down and I can’t get out of it.
vs el fuerte when you’re knocked down, crouching mk can get you out of his mix ups, or ex RK if you’re getting stuffed pretty bad it might be worth the stock.

Ok I Updated the T hawk matchup and with Match up Score. Next Im gonna siphon through to update the guy matchup.
Guy also loses to the slide in a different way: It’s a free punish for bushin flips. Crouch so you don’t get thrown from his bushin, and be wary of the EX hurricane kick.
Any advice on the Blanka matchup?? Having major problems with him.
