zonk is vital in this matchup (even more than in any other matchup). you can punish/reversal everything.
sky claw isn’t very usable but ex version or as crossup. simply block and punish it. late zonk vs barcelona, or focus if it’s not an ex version. tho you’ll msot likely have to back dash / walk a bit or he’ll throw ya.
vegas poking game can be shut down with a little turteling with rocks and slide.
Against Claw’s walldive stuff, I normally just slide at the last possible second, it usually ends up as a trade or I beat it clean. Not the best method, so if you can Zonk the walldives, go for it.
Unless they full screen it and really telegraph,I don’t think you are invincible until both feet hit the ground.I’'d rather go with the EX zonk imo,but it is nice to know all the same.
ex ruffian isn’t invincible at all, it only has projectile protection at some point. you can hit his ultras due to the fact that they aren’t invincible while moving and can easily be punished by everything that hits low - like ex / lk ruffian. and due to the fact that ruffians have armor break u2 will also get beaten.
however dont nail me on that. just theoretical - didnt tested it, but i know of some moves where abel’s u1 gets beaten out (fuerte slide for instance)
Tips for the El Fuerte fight:
Study how Elf fights, if he likes to wall jump at you, a good timed nj.hp will stuff anything he wants to do with the wall dive and lead into some nasty damage on Elf. My favorite is nj.hp xx c.hp xx fierce CU.
Don’t fall for his shenanigans (pretty obvious), if he lands a knockdown just be wary of his options and what he likes to do, and block it out to a neutral position, and work from there.
Knife is alright, but risks giving up a hard knockdown, and isn’t worth it.
Pressuring Elf is hard because of his wall dive and exceptional maneuverability, but corner pressure isn’t needed against him thanks to his subpar amount of health (900).
This fight basically comes down to good defensive reads, and one or two good punishes.
Bad reads on your part, and you’re in for a shitstorm, good reads and punishes, and this fight is easily won.
C.mk and Zonk are excellent tools against wall dive. And if you manage to score a knock down nj.hp with an added OS mk.ruffian works wonders against Claw.
If you are having trouble getting the timing down with the other moves, jump back light kick will solve most of your problems but not do that much damage.
I was looking at my percentage online for matchups against guile players
and I am not doing very well against the turtle style guile players, any advice for cody v guile matchups??
First off make sure you are using ultra 2. It punishes all headbutts except light headbutt(though it punishes that in the corners). Next make sure you have your anti air distances down. Stand hard kick is your friend against big characters with slow jumps. Check the video thread for some honda match ups. Fake rocks to bait jumps are alos very useful.
I agree with what you’re saying and I’ve played some good E.Hondas and take it from me, if the Honda player starts to use jumping mp you’re going to have to change the timing of your AA completely because that move seemed to beat EVERYTHING, even traded with hk rk. Ridiculous but true.

First thing is first, is Cody’s MK crossup and then S. MP. Basically my friend keeps giving me a nice DP for my troubles every time I cross up with Cody and continue the block string with S. MP. So I was just wondering is it me that’s throwing it out too late or can he actually do that to me consistently?
How the hell do you beat Dhalsim with Cody? lol. Cody has his troublesome matches such as (well for me anyway): M. Bison, Balrog, Rufus. But when I play against a decent Dhalsim, I straight out lose a lot of the time.
That’s all I can think of now, Thanks for your time.
Yeah I should give it a go because that’s been bugging me.
I just kinda the frame data (shouldv’e done that before I asked the question!) and it takes Ryu 3 frames for his DP to come out and 5 frames for s. MP to come out and j. MK has nothing entered in the block advantage bit, so DP wins all the time?
Just a bit weird how there’s no block stun when hits someone with an aerial.
