Kat was the only one that was doing well with her feet lol…Jwong and Yaz failed hard. I got mad respect for Kat for doing that and getting 1st place.
It’s not really a hard thing to do. But if you’re not used to shit like that, then yea, you’ll struggle.
The Forza challenge having gimmicks gave Justin more of chance. If it had been pure gameplay, Justin would’ve been so far behind Yaz that everyone would have laps over him. They would have to hire Michael Bay’s editor to make it seem like Justin had a chance.
Then why did he suck at everything?
Wong was like that chick from season 1, Chelsea, who made it to the Gauntlet despite not doing shit. Coaster all the way. People keep saying Justin is the most “well-rounded” or “skilled”, but Yaz and Jake are the only ones that seem to be actually well-rounded. Even Ceasar and Kat trump him in that category.
This. Watch the first episode, remove the Kat/Vanessa drama. Watch the WWE episode, remove the Ceasar drama. Boring. Videogames aren’t fun to watch by themselves (how many of you would stick around for 45 minutes and watch a genre you don’t play/care about?).
This mythical panacea that people keep bringing up “get rid of the drama, remove the physical challenges, show a lot more gaming” would get the show cancelled by episode 2. The Tekken 6 episode would’ve gotten maybe 30K people watching it in the whole country, and they wouldn’t have stayed for episode 2.
It’s like you think airing a Stream on live television would be entertaining. Show your favorite Evo moments to someone that doesn’t play fighters, they’ll fall asleep in two minutes. Same for every other genre. See CGS’ cancelation for more information.
Yes, calling the show “Ultimate Gamer” is retarded, as the very need for ratings throws all that out of the window. The original “GamerQuest” title was dumb, but at least helped the “not about pure skill” argument. Still, people on page 49 saying the same shit they said on the season 1 topic is pretty hilarious. “Oh wow, let me point this out, nobody has noticed, i bet”.
who would be used to playing a racing game in a straitjacket?
I think the biggest issue is that maybe everyone here has a different definition of what an ultimate gamer is.
Personally, if someone can kick ass in every video game, but can’t even tie their own shoes and have zero friends, they aren’t the ultimate gamer. It just means they’re really good at video games. To me, being a gamer is kind of a lifestyle, where playing video games is an important part of that and part of who you are.
Not only are the gimmicks in the challenge good for tv, but if you’re really good at what you do then it just shows how you can adjust to conditions and still be on top.
Actually Justin “coasting” through to the gauntlet just proves he’s pretty much a well rounded gamer. Not the greatest in them all, not the shittiest of them all. Saying he “sucked in everything” is like saying he got last every game challenge and sent everyone home at Samsung Stadium. Give the guy some credit considering most of us thought he was going home during the Forza episode.
I’m more focused on playing with your feet rather than a straitjacket. The straitjacket part is more of the “handicap” than that and trying to drive and accelerate with your feet.
lol are you so dumb as to totally not understand the rest of my post which answers exactly that. you’ve been trying to (and failing at) shitting on wong this whole thread. and usually ignore the intelligent responses to your dumb ish.
please re-read. and stop being dumb. the other players, also as mentioned in another post, are champions and just being a passable (mediocre/sufficient/etc.) level at random, mostly stupid, games and gimmicks.
the whole show for actual total gaming skills is a joke, much like your posts
lol@ people saying the dumb handicaps like straight jackets proves you’re a better gamer because you have to “adapt”. GTFO with that shit and just let them play the fucking game. This show proves absolutely nothing about who the strongest player is.
Nothing ever will, no matter how they do it.
You know i’ll be straight pissed if the final game is SSFIV arcade edition or MvC3.
this show blows
rachel…gdlk
LOL at the people walking into a dark alleyway when they get defeated…
You know none of that is even remotely possible.
I don’t mind the drama, or physical challenges?after all it’s television. But, they should include more player vs player gaming action, instead of going against the computer. It would be cool if it was set up more like Survivor, with teams in the beginning before a merger.
Pretty much. It’s just a simple title in the end.
Rachel was the saving grace. Then she left…so now back to the Justin side and he’s right ther following. GG WCG. You strung me along nice and well.
but SF4 encourages mashing…
at this point I see it as Yaz and Kat or Yaz and Caesar. I like Jake, but I just don’t see it happening.
CGS failing is proof that games DON’T sell on their own merits! CGS died after 2 seasons, whereas we will very likely at least 3 seasons of WCGUG.
The gimmicks are there to keep the show on air, period. While people here would want to see more gaming, there are MORE people outside of here who WANT to see the crazy gimmicks! That’s why they watch! If you don’t like it, stop watching and just go back watching streams.
fixed. people don’t care about crazy gimmicks on a game show. In the end, people just want to see BS and drama between people. Just like any other reality tv show. The gaming is just kinda there in the long run. Let’s be honest here.
Yes, I’m sure the average viewer would see them playing a game normally and say “WHAT?! They aren’t in straight jackets? Fuck this, I’m watching something else”
The gimmicks are a part, too. People are drawn to see the hilarious FAIL in the real life challenges, and seeing how “pro” gamers handle WTF wrenches being thrown into the games. Drama, alone, can get old. Gimmicks can keep things fresh, especially on a show like this that doesn’t have the luxury of outrageous over-the-top characters to carry ratings.
Drama is a gimmick because TV Reality shows continue to dominate cable. Showing just how easily distracted the world can get because 2 people are arguing over something so small or getting into a fist fight because person A stole person b’s man and has a problem with said person having sloppy seconds.
The Real World after 20 years would like to say hi
