i’m dying to see some actual pro level playing…of anything. right now most of the games they play have been near the casual level. it is a waste to have all these pros at certain game types not play their craft. i mean, who can’t play wii sports or nhl like that?
Yes. I want to see some dudes get lit up in some Starcraft, Counterstrike, Quake Live, ANYTHING. The closest that we got was with Tekken 6, and it ended up coming down to the worst vs. the 2nd worst on live TV. I was wishing that they put up Justin for elimination in that episode, just for laughs.
All the elimination challenges they do are stupid. I mean I get it because they have time restraints and whatnot, and they wanna make it appeal to the mass audience and not just the hardcore gamers but shit. The NHL thing was dumb. 4 minute periods? What the hell is that?

I laughed at dude freaking out over whip cream “prank”, but I get why he did. First of all, if you’re going to do a prank, you should do one so that other people don’t know who did it. I know they were bored and all, but on a show like this where you can be picked to go in to elimination, not too smart. If I was on the show, I probably would have reacted to the prank similarly. If I was at my house or something, I probably would have just laughed and got them back later or something. Don’t need people fucking with you when you’re competing for $100,000. You shouldn’t be there to make gamer buddies, IMO.
10/20 min periods? are you serious? a standard game in NHL is 5 min periods, for those guys sake i hope they were playing on the hardest difficulty bcuz for nobody to score in a PvP game is ridiculous.
An NHL game is three periods of 20 minutes, one 5-minute sudden death overtime if tied, and a shoot out if there is still no winner after OT.
In the playoffs, no shootouts, overtime periods are 20 minutes, game goes on until someone scores.
But seriously, they could’ve gone 10 minute periods, unless maybe the show is seriously under-budgeted or the crew hates filming it.

I don’t know 10 minutes seems way too long for realistic stats. For example in real American Football a team gets 60-80 play a game, so in Madden to replicate that they play 6-7 minute quarters.
I don’t know exactly for NHL 10, but isn’t a real game of hockey about 20-35 shots on goal? Three 10 minute periods should exceed that, unless these guys got some sick D which they probably don’t, because they are new to the game.
Going by what I saw the first season, for the most part, there won’t be true “competitive gaming” until the gauntlet later in the season, and the finale. It’s just the way the show is setup.
I mean this is very sad. What they need to do to garner a greater mass appeal is to not let the “pros” play and have random average/casual gamers who just play. Shoot basically it is the “all around gamer against the computer” how lame is that?
