Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Hey folks. I recently got the elusive “Official Street Fighter II Fanbook,” and I love it! It’s an awesome little book that’s written for beginning to intermediate Japanese students like myself, so I finally got a Japanese SF book that I can completely read without a dictionary! (understanding it is another story of course) If anyone wants a fan summary of it like the ones for previous books, let me know and I’ll do my best.

Some stuff for TiamatRoar:

-small correction with Dee Jay’s mis. info: he has a manager named Rick who has a pet bird named Beramacha, and Dee Jay and Beramacha are best buddies.

  • I don’t think I read this in the plot guide before, but Datta and Chris (Amy) are penpals. I thought this was interesting since Guile and Dhalsim are the only fighters with a recognized nuclear family before SFIII came along, Capcom decided to make both of their kids penpals.

-complete title for fanbook is Eiga Street Fighter II Memorial Koushiki Fanbook, ISBN: 4-09-102491-2

Now if I can just find out about the Zero 3 Fanbook:depress:

Oh yeah also Tiamat, can you tell me Dash no Chris’ email? Just wanted to make sure I sent my question to the right place. Thanks.

Hey Vas. Thanks for the info. I’ll include it in the next update

Well, since Hyper SF2 doesn’t seem to have any new storyline info, guess I’d better start getting to work before winter break ends. Oi, I have a lot of backlog to get to. Wow, stuff piles up when school makes you lose track of the time

Interesting. I remember seeing a Pic of Datta and Amy fighting on the Net. Amy won while Guile and Dhalsim cheered them on. The drawing was from Capcom but I wasn’t sure how official it was or if Capcom was joking around, but it seems official with the two being Penpals and all. I don’t have the picture myself, and I THINK Agent Guile had the picture and posted it at SRK one time. Can’t remember who exactly.

Does the SF2 Fanbook have a picture of Gouken’s Daughter?

A non-official one, yes

Saiki - Thanks for confirmation.

Vasili10 - Do you happen to have access to a Scanner? If so, can you hook us up with a scan of Gouken’s Daughter from the SF2 Fanbook?

Oi, I don’t have a scanner myself, but I have a friend who does. I’ll try to get a scan out by early next year. Stay tuned…

What I can tell you so far is this:

-She looks a lot like Yuri, aka the plot guide’s first description of her. (see Gouki’s mis. info)

-She’s in a manga story about Ryu within the book (hence the unofficial part)

-Ryu calls her O-jou-san which actually translates to just “Miss” or more respectfully “M’lady” instead of “Little Miss” which would be O-jou-chan.

-This is the only place I’ve found found her in the book. No other place is she mentioned. So I have yet to find out that she disappeared after witnessing Gouki and her father’s battle, but I have an idea where to go next for that. .

In fact, the book only begins to mention Gouki and Satsui no Hadou (the Shungokusatsu wasn’t even fully recognized until SF Zero), and Capcom didn’t even confirm back then that Goutetsu was killed by Gouki’s hands.

I have the pic of Chris wupping Datta sano, but it’s too big to post here. :frowning: I’ll share a pic that Tiamat gave me a while ago. It’s a fanart of what may be Gouken’s daughter from Ataru. It kind of follows her second description in the plot guide.

Any news for the other fanbook, Saiki? I have some probable candidates, but none fit the info you’ve given me so far. Please let me know if you found anything yet.

Thanks folks. 'Til next time.

Vasili10, do u think maybe u could hook us up w/ a complete in-depth fan summary like u did w/ the other fanbooks?? If so, that would be awesome. Thanks a bunch.

Vas- Thanks for the info! Yeah, that Pic of Gouken’s Daughter by Ataru is the only one I’ve ever seen. Saiki showed it to us on the old Thread that got wiped out a while back. Please try and send us a scan of Gouken’s Daughter in the SF Fan Book when you get a chance if possible. Anyway, for more Ataru goodness in case anyone else hasn’t seen them, not too long ago on this link I provided images of Ataru’s rendition of all 12 Dolls and Shadowloo Cammy on the Sixth Post of this page.

Er, quickie minor correction. I actually don’t know Ataru, personally

Oops, my bad. I’ll fix that.

Actually I believe it was sano who’s provided summaries for us so far. But yes, I’ll prepare something soon. Keep checking.

Here’s Gouki and the kid from the US Street Fighter Alpha Strategy Guide. Also included are Gouken, Goutetsu, and the Robot Gouki from Cyberbots. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to see the Text clearly, so the first Paragraph next to Gouken reads,

“Gouken was Goutetsu’s student and Ryu, Ken and Dan’s master. He is also Akuma’s brother. Gouken and Goutetsu were supposedly killed by Akuma.”

And the paragraph next to Goutetsu reads,

“Goutetsu was the original Shotokan master who turned techniques such as the Hadoken and Shoryuken into defensive, non-killing techniques.”

From Capcom Illustrations, what’s inside Hsenko’s Sleeve, Belail and two other demons, Hsenko’s sister Lin Lin and Demitri fighting Belail.

“Actually I believe it was sano who’s provided summaries for us so far…”

BLARG!!! My bad. Yer right vasili10, that was sano. Heheh, I’m an idiot.

Quick impressions of HSF2T

I just got an English test version of HSF2T…

Guess if Capcom bothered to include the updated canon endings from SSF2TR?

Guess again. Hello, it’s CAPCOM.

Same old fucking “we were lovers Cammy” foolery going on. I haven’t bothered to play with anyone other than Chun-Li and Cammy but I doubt anyone else got a new ending. And with the ultra cheap SF2 AI that we hate and hate, playing the game just isn’t fun anymore.

Playing SF2 Ryu vs SSF2T and seeing the exact same sprites, minus a few new Turbo frames that look more like Alpha sprites, gets old very quickly. Oh whee, it has the butt-ugly SF2 portraits under the life bar.

One more game to take off the “buy” list (if I hadn’t gotten it for review, I might have bought it). Oh, and the test version doesn’t have the interactive animated movie feature so I can’t even spend some time with that.

If you’re a big Capcom fan, you already have these games. Don’t let those idiots screw you backwards again.

This game could have been so much fun. They could have added Alpha sprites and backgrounds on the old engine. Or they could have actually made SF2 versions of the bosses and New Challengers, complete with butt-ugly portraits. Well, I guess I should be happy that the PAL version actually allows 60 hz. They could have gone for old school 1/3 of the screen gameplay…

WARNING! CAPCOM FANBOY RANT!

No SF2 Revival endings? That really sucks.

Sadly, being the SF Fanatic I am I’ll still buy it… It’s not like I’ll have a new SF Game to buy for a LOOOONG time. Capcom says we’ll get SF4 2007 - 2008, but knowing them we won’t get squat and have to wait another 20 years for SF4…

Well, I hear the new remixed Tracks are good at least.

I mean, it’s like Capcom stopped rehashing SF2 and went on to make other games that never reached SF2’s popularity. There biggest success stories were SFZ3, CVS1 and CVS2, that include the entire original cast of SF2. (Though, in Japan SF3 Third Strike has a strong following. Methinks they know better since it’s hands down the greatest fighting game ever created). Anyway, Capcom will make buckets of Money with this new version of SF2, I dare say more than they will with a new SF4, and most of the people who will buy it stopped playing SF after SF2 and won’t give two craps about Revival’s endings that tie into SFZ.

Capcom was trying to make a brand spanking new Fighting Game this year. What happened? People trashed it, even though all they saw was like a not even finished 18% Beta. Not to mention, every first 3D Fighting game sucks because of all the debugging that’s required. Once all the hard work is done, they can just build on it for a Sequel. See how incredibly bad Virtua Fighter 1, Tekken 1, Soul Blade 1 are, and see how great those series are now with upgrades and sequels. Heck, even 2D games go through this, I know SVC2 will own SVC1 just like CVS2 owns CVS1, but no one wanted to give CFAS a chance. The public gave Capcom a message loud and clear. No one wants anything new so the only game we are getting for SF’s 15th Anniversary is yet another rehash of SF2.

So, the question remains, how come Capcom just doesn’t reuse the entire SF2 cast for SF4? Here’s the thing. Disregarding side games like the SFZ Series that’s not a Tourney, each new SF game throws the previous game’s storyline to the winds and introduces new characters. It’s what the series is, and is the source of it’s popularity in Japan, so you can’t expect Capcom to cater to everyone else except Japan and rehash the SF2 Cast yet again. It is what seperates it from KOF, where 90% of the cast returns in every single Game. I mean, if you think about it, it’s rather silly that so many of the same people compete in KOF every year and are fozen in time many of them STILL in High School, Kyo and Iori STILL can’t resolve their Rivalry even though they see each other every year and every unrequited love match in KOF still has not been resolved. Oh, I love KOF, just not as much as SF.

But no SF2 Rivival endings does really suck.

Yeah I agree that Hyper SF2 will suck especially if there are no Revival endings. In fact, (if I had the money) I’d only get the Japanese special edition set for all the extras it will include. It’ll come with a book called All About Street Fighter (probably nothing new or unusual in it but hey we can dream:rolleyes: ) plus a Super X dvd, a SF Ladies mousepad, and a Chun Li-bracelets-keychain (nice novelty items I guess). I’m sure I’ll be seeing these on Japanese auction sites in the next few weeks or so.

I’ve heard bad things about Hyper SF2 from nearly everyone. The main problem with the game is that it’s so… soulless. It’s not just the fact that it’s ANOTHER rehashed version of SF2 (though that’s one factor to it), but there are like, no extras whatsoever besides nongame-related paraphanalia that comes with it (like the mouse pad). The game itself doesn’t have any unlockables, any new story tidbits, anything new at all, doesn’t even let you choose which version backgrounds you want, and heck, you can’t even save your configurations. The game is so just… there.

Still, I suppose some hard core SF fans might want it just for a decent SSF2T port.

Apparently, the DVD that comes with it contains combo videos, a one life play-through of Final Fight (eh?), and CPU tactics. Nothing we haven’t already seen online or need in the first place.

The All About SF book is just the SF sections of All About Capcom in a new format. Well, I guess it was good for one thing: proving to my bonehead friend that Bentstuff and AAC are official, since their book appeared in an undoubtedly official product.

Also, the disc contains the full SF2 movie (not the interactive PSX/Saturn game), but with the shower scene edited out to keep the package rated T.

Basically, with one of the old versions of SSF2T, any of the SF collections, AAC and the SF2 movie (all of which any SF fan should already own) there is no need for this disc. Especially the limited edition.

I been wonder are the Hindu gods the only gods that exitence in the storyline.

here’s a site on the hindu gods.
