Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Here are more 3rd Strike bios…

IBUKI
Ibuki wants to avoid her fast-approaching highschool graduation.
She doesn’t want a job at her school. What she really wants is to get into a college. In order to do that, she must pass a brutal graduation exam. New encounters and sweet love await her. She hopes to enjoy campus life with a cute guy.

RYU
Ryu has been in a countless number of fights. I think his bio says something like he has fought some 10,000 opponents.
“A true Street Fighter”.
The path Ryu follows is still vague and hasn’t taken shape, but he doesn’t stray. Nevertheless one thing is clear: As long as he keeps encountering new/strong opponents, Ryu will continue his course.

DUDLEY
After winning the championship title, Dudley was given the title of “Sir”(I guess that means he was knighted). Shortly afterwards, the Royal Family announced that they will holding an upcoming fighting tournament and invited Dudley to participate. Dudley has to fight flawlessy and give a perfect performance. He has only 1 day to train. That’s enough time for him to improve his abilities and test his skills against fighters from all over the world.

ELENA
Almost one year has passed since Elena parted with Narumi. She’s plans on studying abroad in France for the New Year. I couldn’t make sense outta the next line. It’s something like every day is pleasant and how she enjoys fighting or something, but she has restless, so she decides to go find/make some new friends.

URIEN
Nothing mentioned in his bio that isn’t already in Tiamat’s FAQ. Urien has become the new president of the organization, but he remains displeased after hearing that Gill has been stationed at the top of the organization as “Heaven Emperor”. He says something 'bout giving his foolish older brother the sanction of despair.

ORO
Oro’s boredom has reached the limit. I think the followingl ine says something like Oro has accepted many students, but most of them are unworthy and can’t endure the practice sessions. Then one day, a rumor from the outside world reached his ears. He hears about the mysterious organization and Akuma. Basically, he decideds to leave his cave for the outside world and uncover the rumors himself.

Didn’t Jin’s dad starred in Armored Warriors? An obscure beat-em up game. I saw one in the arcade and was surpriesed that Blodia was in it. It seems Jin’s dad died at the ending which set-up for Cyberbots.

That wasn’t Jin’s dad. His name was Vash. That’s the short answer and here’s the long answer to your question.

I once asked Gen2000, this Site’s leading Jin Saotome expert if there were any connections between Armored Warriors and Cyberbots. Here’s what he said.

"Armored Warriors and Cyberbots take place in the same universe. Like how there are different Gundam main character pilots, but always the same (almost) blue/white Gundam in every one. The Blodia in AW and Cyberbots are the same. The one he uses in MVC1/2 is some weaker/prototype version (looks different).

"The one in Tech Romancer is called Blodia II Custom, but it’s basically just the Blodia from AW and Cyberbots, just bigger cause the mechs in Tech Romancer are way bigger than those in AW and CB.

"There doesn’t seem to be any connection between AW and CB besides both mechs being used in both games. Jin never makes any reference to the original pilot (Vash).

“BTW, Armored Warriors = US/Europe name, I think, and Power Gear is the Japanese name.”

The latest issue of PS2 (Issue 80, January 2004 Date) comes with a DVD that has the Japanese Trailer of HSF2. I can honestly say with it’s vibrant colors and fast combo speed, it’s the best home version of SF2 I’ve ever seen, and seeing the two versions of Ryu and Chun-Li fight each other was a serious head trip! The DVD also included Trailers of Maximo 2, Onimusha 3, Lupin the Third, Crimson Tears, the new James Bond Game among others, and the main attraction on the Disk was a new Metal Gear Solid 3 Trailer.

There was also an article in that issue of PSM that showed Mai’s action figure from Toycom. Even this Mai hater admits she looks hot!

And to close things out, in an Interview in the same Magazine, Resedent Evil Outbreak Director Tsuyoshi Tanaka was asked,

PSM: “What will be the biggest challenge in keeping the RE: Outbreak experience “Fresh” for gamers?”

And his response was -

Tanaka: "I would guess that you mean new online content when you ask this question, but this game wasn’t developed with that kind of system in mind. Actually this could be considered a company secret (laughs), but actually, I’d like you to imagine Street Fighter 2 for a second. What makes that game fun isn’t necessarily new content, it’s who you are fighting against. If you play someone good, it’s that much more challenging. The opponent, or rather the human factor, is what makes the game great. Being able to beat all those different opponents is what makes the game so fun. Outbreak is no different. All I can say is play the game to experience the cool human factor that Outbreak brings to gaming.

So, was this a silent plug for HSF2, or does he really like SF2? Not that I care, I’m just happy when someone from Capcom talks about SF!

Ah, yes. The religion with a million gods. Makes it so much easier for Capcom.

Apparently, he likes SF2, and thus he assumes revising it like that is a great gift to hardcore players. It’s good to see that somebody from Capcom shares the same perspective about fighting games as nearly everyone at SRK.

Which is why I still can’t believe some have the nerve to spit in their faces. :bluu:

We like Street Fighter… but it doesn’t mean that Capcom can release the exact same game they released nine years ago and expect us to just lap it up. Most of us have this game in at least one version already.

If Capcom released some kind of new game for the anniversary, you wouldn’t see half of the complaints.

Also, it doesn’t help that storyline-wise, this isn’t even the best/most updated SF2…

Yes, but Hyper SF2’s not even the exact same game, hence its title. Its appearance and in-game story are, but that’s about it. And truthfully, I don’t believe the target audience cares.

Yep. Just because you happen to have been a SF fan since the beginning, doesn’t make you a hardcore SF2 player.

OT - Back when CFAS was coming out, Capcom did a comedic drawing for it that was published in an Issue of Arcadia. I asked StickClick of MMCAFE to hook me up with a Scan of that drawing since I can’t seem to find that issue in my collection at the moment. Enjoy!

you make me hungry …so capcom will re release CFA … or other fighting games with this 3 new characters ?

Truthfully, if the intended target audience is the audience that I think it is (and I’m quite positive it is), I think the target audience consists of about 500 people total across the entire world…

LOL! I have no idea if Capcom will ever release this game, or if we’ll ever see Ingrid, D.D. or Rook in a game at that. It doesn’t look like Senri Kita, the Character Designer of those three characters is doing much for Capcom right now (all I see from Capcom nowadays is from Shinchiro and Kinu Nishimura). Ingrid has the best chance of being included in a game, given all the Fan Art I’ve seen based on her, the fact that on the Street Fighter Fan Poll (Before they stopped the write in votes) she was ranked fairly high and she was almost a Gashapon Figure and an Action Figure, and that’s actually quite Amazing given she was never in a Video Game! Maybe she’ll be in Sammy Vs. Capcom? Who knows.

Yeah. About the same number of people who sign up for ST tourneys every year, more or less.

You could even say that for games like Final Fight One.

raises glass Cheers.

umm…sammy VS capcom project was cancelled… according to GCC

That’s just a Rumor making the Rounds because no new info on Sammy vs. Capcom has been out for a while, as far as I can tell.

Gen’s two in game styles are listed as Ansatsu-ken: Sou-Ryu and Ki-Ryu. Can anyone translate that? Chris MacDonald at gamefaqs has them both as “Mourning Style”; that has to be a typo.

It is, but not as outright as one might think. Sou-Ryu translates to Mourning Style, but Ki-Ryu depending on some dictionaries can also read as Mourning Style because of how the kanji “KI” is used in other words; it can mean detestable or abhorable along with mourning. “SOU” interestingly means only mourning by itself.

Therefore, the Ki-Ryu more commonly translates to Hateful Style, which is also what the SFA2 Strategy Guide lists it as. (yes, kanji can be confusing at times)

Some interesting bits/pieces of information I found, concerning the SF3 series:

The bald CIA investigator who appears in Qs ending is named David.

Twelve can reassemble/repair any damage to his body. His creation was based on something called the human body reconstruction theory.

Necro: The 3rd son of four siblings. He has 2 older brothers and 1 younger sister.

Dr. Kure: On the suggestion of Urien, he conducted research and practiced the human body reconstruction theory.

Tiamat’s missing some of the judges who appear during the judgement scenario:

Anna: Russia (wears a fur coat and hat)
Fair Libra: Birthplace is unknown. She wears roller blades.
Effie
Reason Flower (Rifa): China (Wears a blue Chinese dress)

Makoto has an older brother who works a white-collar job due to his lack of fighting ability.

During Urien’s 3rd Strike ending, the brain(s) the organization has collected are erasedAfterwards, Urien decides to name his own era/age, “A. U. (After Urien)”.

Hoimei’s older than Shaomei. They both work for their father (whos known only as old man) who owns a chinese restaurant stand in Hong Kong called Ascent Dragon eaves. Hes familiar with Yun and Yang.

Ryu: He feels sad/lonely because Kens fighting ability hasnt changed/improved much, now that he has been domesticated.

Elena studied in Japan during SF3DI and studied abroad in France during SF3TS.

Orudoo K. Gotchi: He has have served Dudleys family for generations. I think it says he served Dudleys family back when Dudleys father was a kid.

Chairperson: He appears in Uriens SF3DI ending. Let it be only all the past chairpersons and presidents to know existence of Heaven Emperor also in Gill’s organization.

Sarai: She was originally an early design of Ibuki during the games developmental stages.

Sean: He goes by the belief/philosophy, “Even if I lose today, Ill win tomorrow”

Shinkai 3000: The submarine that appears in Akumas SF3TS ending.

Julian: She’s a CIA personnel/officer. She carries out an investigation report in Qs ending.

that was nice gold
