Do you think Kyo fighting himself actually happens? That’s just a joke encounter like all other characters who fight themselves. This game is in it’s own universe and has nothing to do with KOF Continuity. I know Playmore is nuts, but they are not crazy enought to reference SVC in a KOF Game. Isn’t Terry always invited to KOF? What does that prove? You mean Ryo’s clothing alterations? It’s not a brand spanking new outfit so I don’t see what’s the big whup in Ryo just wearing a different alteration that day, and this is mostly Sprite Rehash on Playmore’s part anyway.
He’s invited by Joe alone, all these years he had been invited either by a messager or by joe & Andy. Only in 2003 it’s Joe alone
I’ll give you that, but with Goenitz alive, Geese alive (I know the scroll theory but until I see him in MOTW2 or a new Official KOF Game it’s just a Theory) Kyo in the wrong outfit, Ken as a possible swap for one of the 8 heads of the Orochi and the prevelant use of Time Travel I still say the game really doesn’t fit anywhere in KOF Continuity in the true Vs. Game tradition.
And, in the KOF universe Rugal had long killed lots of the SFers and covered their bodies with Molten Metal… LOL!
Sano: Hey man! I just recently got through this entire thread, and I remember your posting on the huge list of stuff you got from Japan. I absolutely appreciate TiamatRoar and Saiki’s efforts along with everyone else’s to bring to us the Street Fighter Plot Guide. (I only wish I knew about the forum before the original thread was lost) Which brings me to this set of questions:
-
You stated that you got among other books All About Street Fighter Zero and All About Street Fighter Zero 2. How would you rate these two for purposes of storyline material? Are they worth buying like perhaps All About Street Fighter Zero 3 which TiamatRoar has as a source in the plot guide? I take if you can’t read Japanese too well, what would be your opinion?
-
Before I continue, in case you’re wondering, yes I’m the guy whom TiamatRoar mentions wants to know about the source books used for the plot guide
Anyway, do you have any idea what is the book that Tiamat refers to as “Official Street Fighter Zero 3 Fanbook (that’s not an exact title BTW)” ? I am familiar with all the sources he lists except for this one. Saiki so far has told me it came out 5 years ago and Shogakukan published it. He said he’d try to find the ISBN for it. Anything you could add (or disprove) to this? Of course anyone else in the forum who can say more about this mystery book please speak up! Thanks.
On a general note, I do hope this thread continues even though not much more has been found to add to official storyline, hence I don’t see TiamatRoar and Saiki much anymore (they’re busy also I’m sure). SVC has some wacky endings to say the least!
Sorry to bore you with all this stuff. Laters people.

The thing is I’m a Street Fighter Junkie and have to have every SF thing I find (though I draw the line sometimes like the new $90 Gashaphon set, the G.I.Joe esque SF2 Toys and that live action movie… I’m currently making Studio Udon rich by buying every cover variant…) so, I’ll go through my AAC books when I get a minute and try to rate them. I can’t read Japanese, so I can give you an opinion based on that at least.
-
I don’t have any of the Fan Books minus one for SF3. I find these Fan Books generally hard to find in the U.S. I’m sure you can order it somewhere but I hate ordering things and like to find them on my own. Recently I ordered the Sakura vs. Kyo Manga and SF Eternal though, so I may be changing a bit… I tried to order the Anniversary Book that came after SF Eternal and I ordered it on the same day it was released in Japan and it’s already sold out! DOH! Take my Advice, become a Star Trek Junkie. You’ll find everything you want very easily.
Yeah, I know I may sound like an SVC hater in my previous Posts, but I’ll probably buy the game before anyone else. To play Ryu and Chun-Li in a new game… ANY NEW GAME! I’ll have to admit I had a good time playing it in the Arcades too. Chun-Li dominates in the game!
Sano: The fanbook you do have is the one from Gamest right? It’s a SF3 mook vol. 81. That’s the only other one I’ve seen.
Yeah I know it’s next to impossible to find these through US sources, so I’m looking at Japanese sites instead, and trying to decide which are the good “storyline” books to get.
Also while you’re looking at the AA books, can you tell me how many win quotes a character has in Zero 2? I doubt that the game has specific character-to-character win quotes, but for Ryu so far I’ve come across ten (including the 4 from Zero 1), and Satsui no Ryu has nine according to AASFZ2A which I have.
Thanks for the previous reply.
No, the SF3 Fan Book I have is not from Gamest I don’t think. I’ll check out who made it and answer all your questions soon.
Vasili10 - ADOY! You were right! The SF3 Fan Book I got is a Gamest Mook! Ooops…
Anyway, here’s a breakdown of the AAC books regarding SF, and what’s cool for people who can’t read Japanese. The books have interviews and stuff too but I won’t mention those for obvious reasons. They are placed in the order I think are the most important.

Wow!!! I’ll definitely have to snag some of these books when I get a chance. Thanks for the info sano. Now if only someone could shed some more light on the Z3 fanbook…
You’re welcome. And to answer your earlier question, according to AASFZ2, Each Character has 26 Japanese Quotes. The Quotes are not specific Character to Character win Quotes like in SFZ3 and SF3. In SF Zero each Character has 16 Quotes. They have the same Quotes in SFZ2, Capcom just added 10 more for each Character.
By comparison, each Character in the American Version of SFZ2 has only Four Quotes. GRRR!!!
26!!! And 16 for Zero 1!!! My gosh, the US versions really got ripped out. I didn’t think it was to that degree though. I wonder why Satsui no Ryu only had 9 quotes in Z2A. Hmm…
Hey sano, once again that’s a great “fan-friendly” summary for the AA books. Do you have any other Gamest mooks to do the same for them? The first one ever was on SSF2X. I also know there were two for SFZ, three for SFZ2, one for SFZ3 with Karin’s speculative birthdate from Nakahira Masahiko san most likely, first mentioned by Lord Vega; two for SF3 including the fanbook we confirmed before, and two for SF33S. A couple of months ago TiamatRoar posted Rokesiph mentioning the story of Gouki visiting Gouken with a much younger Ryu and Ken as told in the first mook for SFZ. (Yes I know that SFZ is not considered canon anymore but TiamatRoar included the story in his plot guide because it could’ve happened without too much of a conflict since Capcom has forgotten quite a few things from that long ago: ie. Gouken’s daughter, Vega’s pre-Shadoloo history, Vega possibly visiting Gouken before Gouki finishes the Ansatsuken shisho off.
Hey Tiamat, I found entries for all twelve Shadoloo dolls in AA Capcom. I believe that the doll of March is listed as Me-ru-tsu (me is pronounced as in met), so the closest English spelling would be Mertz. I don’t know if that’s pronounced the same as Mrz but just letting you know if they’re not the same. I guess you can confirm it with Saiki if you’re not sure.
As always, anyone can shed some more light on the SFZ3 (or other?) “official fanbooks” I’d greatly appreciate it. Laters.
Yea, I’ve seen it before. Mertz is just… engrish translation or something. Even Japanese fanartists call her Marz with the umlot.
The Gamest Mooks I have regarding SF are one for SF3NG, one on SFZ3 discussed here and the Capcom Illustrations Book. I’ll describe them in detail on Monday if you wish.
Sure sano. That’d be great. Thanks for your time and efforts.
Please do, Sano. Thanks.
Slight correction. SFZ2 Characters have 24 Quotes and not 26. In AASFZ2 they were numbered by the Alphabet going by A-X and for a split second I thought their were 28 letters in the Alphabet so minus Y and Z I thought that was 26… Too many Video Games have thus killed some Brain Cells…
Everything’s written on Paper so when I have some free time I’ll describe the Three Gamest Mooks. For Capcom Illustrations I described most of the Artwork to TAS in my earlier Posts on this Thread recently, so I’ll discuss other cool stuff in that book.
CAPCOM ILLUSTRATIONS - GAMEST MOOK VOL. 17 - Loads of Artwork from Capcom Arcade Games, most of the Art is from SF2. Pictures from the originally planned SF2 Anime T.V. Series that was supposed to follow the Animated Movie. This idea was scrapped when it was decided the Anime would be based on the younger SFers, hence SF2V. (Most likely this decision was made since SF Zero was in Production at the same time as the Anime, so an Anime about the younger SFers would sell more SFZ games.) Least I THIIIINK that’s what these pictures represent with the words “TV” and the dates 3/25 - 5/21 1995 which was more or less SF2V’s run, and given my knowledge of what the SF2 TV Anime was supposed to be originally. These Pictures are of older Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and E.Honda. Moving along, Bengus Drawings of the cast of Cammy’s CD Drama. Lots of Darkstalker Sketches by Bengus, including one of Demitri fighting Belial, Another of Belial and two other Goat-like Demons, and the contraption inside Hsenko’s Gloves that house all those weapons. Lots of Akiman Design Sketches of the SF2 Cast. Character Designs for the SF2 Animated Movie.
STREET FIGHTER ZERO 3 - GAMEST MOOK VOL. 159 - Personally, I like the way the Chapters are divided. The first Page of a Chapter hosts a white page with some of the SFers using their SFZ3 Character Art, but it’s interesting how they’re grouped. First chapter page shows the six characters that first appeared in SF1. Second Chapter Second Chapter shows the five good guys that first appeared in SF2. Third Chapter shows the remaining five bad guys that first appeared in SF2 - Using Japanese names, though in this case since I mention all three Shadaloo Bosses it won’t matter much, Doll Cammy, M.Bison, Balrog, Vega and Gouki. Fourth Chapter shows the eight original SFZ characters. And the last Chapter features the four Final Fight Characters. Everyone’s Mini Bio is written in English, and their Voice Actors are written in English! Lots of Masahiko Nakahira Art along with Karin’s Bio. Lots of sketches of the two newbies, R.Mika and Cody. (Since it only covers the Arcade which Juni and Juli were only playable as Vega swaps, no sketches of them, but along with Mike Bison they do get the Mini Bio treatment and their Voice Actors are listed in English as well.) Lots of great Fan Art! No Character Quotes. All endings of the Characters and just like SFZ3, only the Arcade Characters.
STREET FIGHTER THREE NEW GENERATION FAN BOOK - GAMEST VOL. 81 - Art of each Character done by a different Manga Artist. I don’t recognize any of these Artists, but at least their names are written in English! Great SF3 Art done by Akiman, Bengus and Shoei done in an EXTREMELY FAN ART style! Hilarious! Lots of Fan Art, done by actual fans of course! Four page Japanese comedic and very silly comic featuring Yun, Yang and Ibuki. Two comic strip SF3 Gags. Character Art for SF2 The New Challengers Turbo, SF1 and SF Zero. All of the Character Art has the Character’s name on the bottom written in English, and this book was essential for me back in the day so I could learn the names of the SF1 Cast! A Japanese SF Dictionary, of what I dunno… Maybe you could look up “Hadouken?” Pictures and Bios of some of the SF3 Voice Actors. A bunch of Pictures from SF3 Endings have been grouped together with Text for a comedic story, MAD Magazine Style! Pictures of the SF3 Character’s Cards from the “All Capcom World” Card series. (I have a bunch of these cards but not all.) Pictures of other SF3 Merchandise including the SF3 Super Deformed Character Keychaines. There’s also a written apology to sano for not including Chun-Li as a selectable Character in SF3NG… Okay made up that last sentence, LOL! Getting pretty late around here in my defense…
Thanks Sano. Anyone else with a mook would like to contribute? Hey Saiki, any news with the fanbook for Zero 3?
Hey, could you scan Belial for me? I have pictures of Jedah (duh!) and Ozom already but not him.
Sure thing. I finally learned how to Post images on this Thread, so I’ll post that and the Gouki and the Kid sketch that was being asked about a while ago, when I get the chance. The sketches of Belial are not very clear though as there is an extreme use of black, but given he has four arms as Saiki described him, is really large and is fighting Demitri you can tell it’s him.
