Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Personally, I feel that Rival Schools is unconnected and Sakura’s appearance is only an Easter Egg, since she doesn’t show up in RS2, and nor does Kyosuke show up in SF3 for the Gameboy Advance, and he’s the only new Capcom Character for CVS2 that didn’t show up in that Game, as if Capcom now wants the two to be unrelated.

Version 3.9 is at gamefaqs, but at a new URL (in my sig). The old URL version iwhich is up to 3.8 s still there for some strange strange reason, though. Probably because it’s in the miscellaneous section of gamefaqs, which was removed a while ago but pieces of it still remain.

I personally don’t think Rival Schools is a part of SF, either. The only time Sakura got a really REALLY big storyline role was in a noncanon drama CD.

…well, actually, I honestly think she was originally intended to not be an easter egg, but that Capcom realized the timelines don’t fit and from there tried to quietly separate them, considering that they put a pretty decent amount of effort into RS Sakura above and beyond an easter egg (she has semblance of a real ending, lots of official RS art of her with other characters, and actual character relations with several characters, then there are other SF bits mentioned in various Evo disks like Hinata trying to learn the Hadoken and Chairperson learning saikyo instead of shotokan, and I have this hunch that they were going to do something with Ran being a Hibiki but scratched it, but as far as I can tell, its all gone by Project Justice).

Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if that arcade thing and Ruby Heart were done in all seriousness by the Rival Schools storyline team while they were still wanting it to be a part of Street Fighter universe then when they were found out, a bunch of other Capcom employees slapped them and screamed “What are you smoking!?”

To Tiamat:

I don’t think this is too off-topic…

You want what-if KoF endings? I have some for you:

Kof 94- Fatal Fury team- After the “your team defeats Rugal”, you team members talk to each other and each one go to different places. Then we see Geese and then Krauzer(not Rugal! :frowning: )- each one comment Rugal’s loss and that they’ll be the first one to defeat Terry. This ending could only happen if Terry had won the tournament.

Kof 99- Fatal Fury Team- After the “your team defeats Krizald” the base begins to collapse like in every other ending. But Terry stays behind and dissapears with the base. Everyone thinks he is dead. Later, Blue Mary meets him while she is searching for some bandits. Yes, this could happen without they actually begin the winners, they could be just finallists… but the problem is…

Kof 99- Art of Fighting Team- After the “your team defeats Krizald”, the base begins to collapse like in every other ending. But Takuma can’t keep up with the other and is hit by a rock. The building falls. During the entire ending, the team is just the team looking at the ruins. At the very end, Takuma’s hand come out of the wrecks as they were already going home.

Kof99- Psycho soldiers- After the “your team defeats Krizald”, the base begins to collapse like in every other ending. But Athena stays behind and Kensou also stays to help her. Everything explodes. Kensou comes out of the fire with an energy shield protecting him and Athena; at the same time that Bao falls uncouncious.

Kof 2000- Kyo and Iori ending- This one you all know about.

Kof2001- There’s no way K’s ending happened… In every ending you have K’ helping Kula to fight against Diana and K’9999 just before the O Zero Battle… but in K’s ending, you have K’9999 and Diana attacking Kula before the O Zero Battle, like they always do, but, instead of K’ appearing at that moment, he goes there only after beating O Zero and the Igniz… he’d just arrive too late to be able to do that.

EDIT: Nevermind. Had a bunch of rebuttals, but wasn’t able to finish with them, since going through various KOF endings and analyzing them reminded me of why I hate that stupid plot rife with 101 filler endings that do jack squat and exist solely for fanservice so much, which made my head hurt too much to continue. Looking at all that crap when I was double checking those stupid endings to make sure I remembered everything correctly made me just not care, anymore.

VERY OFF TOPIC - Since I post on this Thread more than anywhere else, and I kind of consider all the people here as family I wish to share this with you guys! On the fourth Post of this Link is my entry for the upcoming Fan Art contest for the Street Fighter Comic! It’s Chun-Li Fighting Twelve whose X.C.O.P.Y.ing (Imitating) Ryu!

Anyway, is anyone else participating? TAS, where you at?

http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44691&perpage=&pagenumber=2

Hey Saiki or Tiamat, do you guys have any opinion on these?

Okay, now for some far out theories and speculations Ive had or thought about or been thinking about.

I remember the Plot Guide talking about how Lee and Gen may of had ties to the underworld/mafia, and if they were related to Chun Li (and her father) in someway it be kinda ironic, since they would be on opposite sides of the law.

I figure its just pointless to enter, because there are alot of better artists out there that will be entering the contest that will blow away anything I do.

EDIT:

I remember you guys talking about Rival Schools and if you thought it was connected to SF or not.

Anyways, Id like to believe it is, but in certain ways I know its not.

For instance I believe Capcom officialy stated RS takes place in 1999, which dosnt fit with Sakura and SFA’s timeline.

Also Hinita has a book in RS name “Ken Masters Fighting Philosophy” which I imagine Ken wote when he was older, post SF3 (or around that time)

Although if Capcom wanted they could simply retroactively (sp?) change RS’s timeline to the same as SFA’s timeline, and still not screw anything up, since I dont think there would be anything to explain because of the timeline change, ie it wouldnt affect anything, except maybe Ken’s book (which he could of written when he was younger, who knows)

Oh and Tiamat or Saiki, how much do you guys know about RS? Cause I have a couple questions about it, and unfortunatly the only person I know who knows alot about RS is Snowstorm.

There’s alot of info about RS on Snow’s site and the character bios are kinda set up like the Canon Guides (which is nice) but the info on the site dosnt help me with my questions, and I dont wanna post on Snow’s message board (cause it be weird, and she’d probaly know its me anyway)

So I was just wondering how much you knew, ie do you know enough for me to be asking stuff about it, or should I not even bother?

remember hinata and natsu were sakura’s childhood friend …

and this

this are her full trivia of sakura
http://snowstorm.50megs.com/profiles/sakura.htm * caugh caugh caugh * gosh …too too weird

TAS - Personally I could care less about winning the SF Fan Art Contest. I mean, there’s no Money involved, you just win signed copies of issue 1 and a drawing by Studio Udon of your favorite character. SNORE. It’s all about showing your love for Street Fighter in my mind. Wish the Deadline wasn’t so short though. Hope my Drawing gets printed, at least.

Art is all opinion. Someone may come out with the craziest illest looking drawing done in Photoshop Million Point Zero and someone else may prefer a simple drawing in Pencil. It’s almost impossible to say this drawing is better than that drawing because in short it is all personal opinion so don’t ever doubt yourself in that way. Heck, there’s Tons of people who say Anime, Comics, Cartoons are not Art at all. Of course, this is a contest and all, and I guess someone will say this drawing is the best, but I guess that only affects you if your obsessed with winning. If no one ever competed in anything because they thought they’d get blown out or loose life would be pretty boring.

Anyway, I like your Art Work.

Where the Heck did Snowstorm hear Kei was investigating anything during RS?

yeah …i dunno the dramaCD might help
http://snowstorm.50megs.com/series/rs1.htm

because of the drama cd , it also ruin the storyline in RS 1 !!

CD Dramas are not official. If you want Proof, Check pages 108 and 109 of this Thread for my extremely rough translations of two Street Fighter II CD Dramas that have gotten whole lot of crap for SF2 wrong. Retsu’s even in one of the CDs. WHOA…

Doesn’t Daala of the original projectjustice.com post here? I know she posts on some fighting game site…

Snowstorm’s probably the most knowledgeable though. If only she wasn’t insane…

She Posts at MMCAFE regularly.

Btw Sano, Retsu’s in exactly 3 SF2 drama CDs…even weirder.

Honestly, nearly everything I know about Rival Schools I learned from spying on Snowstorm. The rest I got from some translation facts at gamefaqs which snowstorm would never admit to (such as Sakura being in Evolution 2’s simulation storyline but not 1 while the amusement park with the Street Fighter arcades is absent from 2 blah blah blah). Most of it I learned long before she posted this stuff up to the site. For the longest time, I thought Sakura was almost positively canon to RS due to having a big role in the investigation and Kei having a role in the RS storyline, too, but eventually I realized that was only in the drama CD (IE, it was bullshit. Even snowstorm admits it has some conflicts with the storyline. although she still accepts it as canon. Go figure. …funnily enough, the 2nd drama CD shattered her expectations a bit but she brushed it off just like any selective memory pro would).

Anyways, RS has a LOT more that conflicts with Street Fighter than just Ken’s fighting philosophy book. The fact that STREET FIGHTER EXISTS AS AN ARCADE GAME IN THE RS UNIVERSE should be a big fat alarm, right there (although the amusement park with said arcade game is absent in Evolution 2, which also just happens to be the Evolution game where Sakura has an actual role in the evolution simulation story). There’s also things like cellphones and fast internet connections which really wouldn’t mesh well with any time earlier than 1999.

Finally,

Sakura teaming up with Ruby Heart. Nuff said.

Hey Golden Dragon. Thanks again for the info. I’ll add it into the next plot guide update. Right now I’m trying to wait until Hyper SF2 to finally finish that update up

HAHAHAHA BIG LAUGH ! so sakura wasn’t considered in RS then ?? yeah the arcade game was SF3 3rd strike ! edge playing it … damn snowstorm is trying to tell that sakura came from the past with a time machine or something ??

Yeah I thought about that, but then figured comic books and video games have never been very accurate when it comes to technology, ie they just throw in whatever tech they want no matter what the timeline.

Example in SF would be the Psycho Drive, or cloning, and probaly a dozen other things.

I guess if they wanted to connect RS with SF they could do it one of two ways.

  1. Retroactively change the timeline of RS and make it fit with SFA’s (minor things would have to be overlooked though or considered to be non-canon) and you could tie in younger SF chars with it like Sakura (again) Karin, Rainbow Mika (?)

or

  1. Tie it in with SF3’s younger cast, ie Yun, Yang, Elena, Makoto, Sean, etc, and have them go to the RS shcools (although I imagine that they’d have to create some new schools)

I also heard from my sources it was fairly expensive to produce the RS game series.

Evolution 1
Evoultion 2
Project Justice
Drama CDs

All of them were jam packed with extras and goodies, more so than any other Capcom fighters, plus there was the fact the games/cds were very fan oriented, ie they tried to put in alot of stuff fans wanted, which isnt a bad thing, but it does become an expensive thing.

Theres also the fact that the RS games took longer to make than most other Capcom games, given the fact none of them were ever rushed (or seemed rushed)

I imagine Capcom feels it a bit risky to produce another RS game because of the above, and the fact the creator of the series no longer works for them.

Anyways Im rambling, but I’ll ask what Im probaly most curious about right now concerning RS.

Does anyone know the name of or anything about the school Batsu originaly came/transfered from?

Cause with all the stuff Im writting/designing/doing a new RS game/story is one of em, and I thought the inclusion of Batsu’s former school would be cool to see in RS.

Like Strider, Captain Commando, Ginzu, Lynn Kurosawa, Felicia, and Morrigan in SFA2, it’s nothing more than a cameo.

batsu was formerly a student of tamagawa minami kouku during junior college …

There’s also the Wonderswan version of Pocket Fighter that Sakura plays in the SFA anime…
