Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

I think the Wraith’s description means that he seems more like a magician than a wrestler. The Wraith is… very very very freaky.

Wow. They gave the monkey, Ref, and Jessica bios  That’s hilarious how the monkey is like, a genius  It’s cool that I can get more information of what Jessica and Colt’s relationship was like. Thanks!

Rip Saber’s description is most likely something like “no matter how cowardly it is, he will use any weapon in wrestling. He is popular with the fans thanks to this” or something like that. But yeep, the guy uses grenades, for crying out loud

Hey Saiki, you wouldn’t happen to have the ISBN# of the Official Street Fighter Zero 3 Fanbook, would you? That guy who asked for the numbers and confirmation of what the other various fanbooks were would like to see if he can find that one, too, now.

GF2 - I’ve seen a lot of those but not all. Thanks!

Alex beating up Mike Bison? How official is this? I guess since they are in the same Power Tier, Alex lucked out a win or won by a hair? Looks like Alex anielated him in that art, though. Maybe Mike Bison should be moved down to Tier Number 6?

I bet Ryu looked the same when he beat Hugo. Uhmm,…

Maybe Alex up to Tier 3/4?

Well, the tiers aren’t official, right? Of course there will be some exceptions. Can anyone read what’s on that specific flyer with Alex & Balrog?

Maybe it’s the US Martial Arts tournament that took place shortly after SF2 (or was it before? I forget) :stuck_out_tongue: I’d like to know about it, myself, though.

Juni’s power ratings of various characters throw the tiers off, but then again, while most of those ratings make sense, there are some that make no sense at all (like T. Hawk pwning EVERYONE).

Weeee. I finally got gamefaqs to update the guide. And also put it where links to it would actually exist (various arcade SF FAQ sections of the site. Not some of the the console versions’ sections in gamefaqs, it seems, though). Now all I have to do is update my sig to reflect the new URL in about like, 5000 gajillion different message boards and I’m set!

Well, at least I finally got to getting Fighter Mania’s new URL into the guide, too, in the ‘where to find the guide’ section.

Random: Just realized that Capcom of America removed two gang references in Final Fight 2. Maki’s biker gang background and Wong’s mafia background. Maybe Capcom of America dislikes Asian gangs or something. Strange, since they’re perfectly fine with a gang like Mad Gear

The event that Alex and Bison fought in isn’t the US Martial Arts tournament . It’s called the Vale Tudo Eternal Fighting(B.E.F). Bison appeared in it 2 years ago and became the champ both times.
In this years tournament, Bison beat Rike Bernardo, Camo Riapardo and Kimaro to advance to the finals. Alex beat Jerald Golby in the semi-finals. The first round against Alex, Bison completely dominated the fight. 1min 20 seconds into the second round, Bison landed 23 solid heavy punches into Alex. But Alex countered with his own combo and KO’ed Bison.

Oh, and Sean KO’ed a wrestler called Pulluk Hogan. Hogan was fighting Zangief in a title match in the WWC. Hogan was thrown outside of the ring by Zangief’s double lariat. Hogan went berzerk and starting going wild. A chair that Hogan threw was just about to hit a woman in the crowd but Ryu deflected the chair and Sean KO’ed Hogan. The only person who remained was Ken, who was busy trying to pick up a girl.

I’ll get the rest later…

d00d, these secret files sure contain some really #@$#@ed up shiyet, yo

…Ken trying to pick up a girl? Considering that Sean’s old enough to fight, isn’t Ken already married by then?

Wonder who finally won the third round between Bison and Alex.

Thanks Saiki! At least the fight between Mike Bison and Alex seemed close so I guess they can remain in the same tier.

As for Ken, well, he still hits on girls in Pocket Fighter and SVC. Course those games are unofficial, but once a Playa always a Playa!

Not sure how official that Flyer is, sounds like they’re joking around.

Since Alex went on to the third tournament, I’d say he won. Besides, Balrog is too beat up to continue. Unless (gasp!) he put on a mask to disguise himself!

I suppose these are official. Then I’d guess most of the SF2 cast know each other. Why else would Ryu and Ken go to see a random wrestling game if they didn’t know Zangief?

Saiki, the world would be eternally grateful if you translated all of these. However, if it is official information, I wonder why it isn’t already mentioned in AAC, at least not in Alex’s bio. Maybe it’s just too unimportant.

Thanks Saiki!

I just enjoy learning more details of the Street Fighter world no matter how unimportant or trivial they may be. It just gives more insight and further fleshes out the SF universe.

If these things are official, than now we have a better knowledge of what Balrog (Mike Bison) did after Shadaloo fell apart.

And I agree with Siegfried, translate them all if you can! It will be much appreciated

All About series from what I can tell, while going into detail about things, don’t go into THAT much detail about things, since all of this stuff took place in what seems to be more minor tournaments than the World Warrior tournament or even the US Martial Arts tournament (assuming they’re canon at all in the first place, of course). For one thing, I’m not even sure where in AAC it would go. I feel like I’m sorta in the same boat, since the closest thing the plot guide has to an ‘events’ section is the various games, and these tournaments didn’t take place in any games, so I’m having a slight bit of trouble trying to figure out where to put this all into the plot guide so it’d read coherently… :stuck_out_tongue: Ah well. Probably will just slap it into the various character sections (hopefully will be able to figure out more how canon it is or not).

“The first round against Alex, Bison completely dominated the fight. 1min 20 seconds into the second round, Bison landed 23 solid heavy punches into Alex. But Alex countered with his own combo and KO’ed Bison.”

I dunno. This is just what happened to Brad Pitt in that movie Snatch; a couple of guys would beat the living crap out of him in a boxing ring until he got mad. From there, one punch from him and its all over. Seriously.

So what we have here is Bison landing a series of heavy hitting combos and seemingly dominating until the next round where all it’d take from Alex is just ONE combo to actually knock his ass out. For all we know, he was just messin’ around.

Well, it at least seems more balanced than the Art.

I’m sure at the Tier Range they are in, they can be taken out by a lucky punch by someone in the same Tier?

Head hurts from too much thinking… I dunno either way.

I think you guys are thinking to far into this. Capcom obviously has a crappy memory, so I’m not surprised when tend to forget important details like power tiers and such. Sometimes it aint necessary to hang on their every word, 'cuz they usually forget what they say. It’s like I said, the tiers aren’t set in stone. As far as I’m concerned, the stuff written in those secret files are canon. Btw Tiamat, In your FAQ you list Cody’s height as 185cm and weight as 80kg. The thing is, all the Japanese websites I’ve gone to list his height as 182cm and 85kg. Apparently, it’s been that way since the original Final Fight. I dunno, you might wanna re-check that. His 3 sizes are correct, though. Just thought I’d let you know. Oh yeah, props to SAIKI for translating some of that flyer. PLEASE translate the rest when you get the chance.

Yea, I know those tiers aren’t official.

But bearing that in mind, still, I just think it’s unfair that Alex would be hinted as scrubby for getting beat down by Ryu when there’s no conclusive evidence that he got totally p3wned by him. That’s all. The match wasn’t finished in his 3S, and you can clearly see his determination when he gets back up. And there’s also the part where he says, “No way! The fight’s just begun!”.

We just learned that he got pummeled by Balrog in much the same way, and look what happened to him. Not to say he can really BEAT Ryu, of course, but he must’ve made a good comeback at least.

Balrog’s (boxer) pretty much been reduced to joke character status. He seems to be just a fill in that is used as punching bag by other major characters.

Who ever called Alex a scrub?

Joke characters don’t have to suck to be joke characters. If that status is applicable to Dan and Sean, then Balrog’s far above it. He might not have the skill or intelligence, but he does have power. Killing an elephant with his bear hands isn’t exactly what I’d call scrubby. It just isn’t enough to place him in the same range as Guile or Ken, who possess everything he lacks and then some.

It just seems that after talking to some fans, there are some people who strangely think that way about Alex because you see him get trashed by Ryu in his 3S ending, as a way of “bringing Ryu back in the spotlight.” :wtf:

I didn’t mean to imply that Balrog is useless, if that is how it came off. However, I would still consider him to be somewhat of a joke, considering all of the fun Capcom makes at his expense. In this situation, Capcom uses him as somewhat of a litmus test. Showing Alex defeating Balrog is a pretty good way of displaying his current strength and future potential without really upsetting the current continuity or balance of tiers.

Rather than putting Ryu in the spotlight, I would say that Alex’s 3s ending was just a way of keeping him in perspective. Sure, he won the 3rd tournament, and “beat” Gill, but his ending makes you bear in mind that he isn’t the top dog yet, he’s actually far from it. It isn’t capcoms style to let a new up and comer gain the top rank right away, he has to work for it. Actually, it’s very similar to how Ryu “defeated” Sagat in SF1 and still managed to lose to Ken in SFA2.

Exactly. That should be the most appropriate way to look at his ending, but not everyone sees it as such.

Hi to everyone in the forum, I am a newcomer here, and I think this forum is a “spectacular spectacular” For my first post, I would like to post a wishlist for Capcom vs. SNK 3, because I think it has great potential to rejuvenate Capcom games.

Note :

  • Japanese names are used here, so “M. Bison” is the boxer, and “Vega” is the Shadaloo general
  • “Metsu” is Evil Ryu, it’s what’s written on his back, so his name is not “Evil Ryu” anymore, but “Metsu”
  • “Ashura” is Shin Gouki
  • The “name / name” you see explains the character and his or her more powerful form, so Ken players can unlock Psycho Ken, Kyo to Saishu, Vega to Psycho Vega, etc

I’ll post more, comment please? I believe you can improve this list much more, but also state the reason whenever you propose an insertion or a deletion of character…

There is a great potential for a great storyline in CVS3 as well, my interpretation is that when Gouki reaches the “martial art god” status, he actually becomes an express embodiment of a martial art god. “Ashura” is the martial deity of the Japanese, the Indian, the Nepalese, and to an extent, the Chinese as well, that’s actually why I change “Shin Gouki” to “Ashura”, you can see very clearly from his character design that he resembles the image of “Ashura”.

Whereas “Metsu” means “Destruction”, pure and simple. Evil Ryu is the express embodiment of Destruction itself. This is because he practices “Ansatsuken” (“Fist of the Assassin”) albeit a toned down one, the destructive forces have always been latent inside the practitioners of Ansatsuken such as Ryu, Ken, Gouki, etc…

I believe when Gouki achieves the state of “Ashura”, he is beyond good and evil already, remember that evil angels reside in heaven too, and good angels guard in hell as well. He is simply said to be “Man of God”, which is the writing on his back. It is very interesting to note that “Man of God” is the transliteration of “Gabriel”, who is the “Warrior of God”.

Furthermore, “Metsu, Destruction” has a parallel in “Abaddon”, the Angel and Lord of Destruction who in the Jewish and Christian Apocalyptic tradition will be defeated and chained up by none other than Gabriel and Raphael!

I think we have an apocalyptic battle here, one between an “Ashura, Warrior of God” assigned the divine task to eradicate the Force of “Metsu, Destruction” that arises in Ryu’s soul. It’s an interesting twist even more since Gouki is Ryu’s father, imagine the anguish of the Man of God when he has to destroy the Lord of Destruction, and in the process, probably destroy Ryu’s very soul and body…
