Dash No Chris gave us a bunch of info on the new SF Anniversary Book. According to him, it has Pics and Illustrations from the Gallery, stuff on all the Animes, the crappy live action Movie and the US cartoon, Timeline of all released games including VS series and CVS, Japanese interview between Akiman and Funamizu, art from Kanzaki Masaomi (He did the art work for the other SF2 Comic released in the states), Kitobuki Tsukasa (Toshinden Artist) and like I said Nishimura (Dash says her SF Girls pic is worth the price of the book) and more! Now, if they could of just combined this book with the Eternal Challenge Book I may have felt I got my moneyās worth when I brought that book. The book is small, but itās really cheap, only 1000 Yen (Thatās roughly 13 US Dollars, I think). Hereās the ordering info! Goes on sale the 26th of this

I know a lot of you are going to be shocked about what Im going to say to you now. I dont care if it isnt official by the standard weve been using (stated or not stated directly in AAC), but based on what Ive learned at school today, I cant allow myself to believe Capcoms written version of SF canon can nullify what is scientific. Because if it does, then they, by all accounts, are officially full of it. So setting AAC aside, here is my claim:
Poison and Roxy are, and always HAVE BEEN, female, and were therefore never, EVER, in their ENTIRE lives, transvestites. Heres why, but please, read through this and try to pay attention.
As any neuro-psychologist will tell you, we as humans are essentially brains, and our bodies, what they call our genetic-make-up, are merely the vehicles our brains pilot for us to live. Kill somebody by slicing off a limb and draining them of their lifeblood; mentally, they are still there to suffer before they die. The same applies as if you were to pierce somebodys heart. Now try slicing them from top to bottom, or shooting them in the head. They die immediately because the brain is destroyed, or at least any vital parts of the brain to be more apt, which is almost always certain to happen. It applies to all living, thinking organisms. This supports the theory, BTW, that if you were to be decapitated, while youre sure to die, your head would still retain its eyesight and hearing for a brief period before the brain ceases to function, and thus we. Some of you might not be familiar with that theory, and it doesnt seem conclusive because obviously, we can never experience that for ourselves and still be able to record the data needed to validate it, much less bring ourselves to kill someone for a scientific experiment. But anyway.
Im sure many of you believe that ones sense of being male or female is learned from ones upbringing; through being taught what it means to be male or female, by parents, peers, or society in general. This is not the case. Gender identity is something you are born with. Its GENETIC. But just because its genetic, does not mean that your whole body, your genetic make-up, is in any way a deciding factor of what you are, regardless of your physical appearance. You can be born female physically, but born male psychologically. The exchange of information CAN lead to undesirable effects such as this during the bodys formation. So it is only courteous to refer to people with this problem by the gender they know themselves to be. And SO the next time you see some drag queen who you think is acting like a deluded fag begging for attention (which the person still could be), you might want to consider this so as to avoid passing it off as a laughing matter. Because more often than a lot of us think, it isnt.
Around some 30 years ago, a boy became victim to an accident that burned off his genitalia at a very young age. Naturally, his parents were distraught upon hearing this, so they consulted the guidance of a certain psychologist by the name of John Money (an idiot). He had told them that they would have to save their sons life by giving him a sex change operation, and for him to live happily, they would need to raise him as a girl: give him toys made for girls, give him girls clothes, teach him to like pink, not blue, to be cheery and delicate, not fierce and competitive, and what have you. The operation was done, and the parents tried to do just that, changing his name from John to Joan. But as their son grew older, he became very uncomfortable. He refused to play with girls toys and wear girls clothes, he didnt want to play with the opposite sex, he didnt want to keep from associating with his own, and he also didnt like being teased for being a girl. No matter what he did, he couldnt feel normal. He was totally miserable. His parents couldnt understand why that was, so they notified John Money. Without getting a legitimate answer, they decided to tell their son the truth. He, of course, didnt remember he was born a male, but when he heard about it, he was immediately able to recognize that as the root cause of his sadness. So as he got older, he had to bear worse like men making advancements on him, or getting bullied for being a transvestite. This pushed him to the brink of thinking about suicide, which he fortunately didnt commit. But there was an update aired on his being just recently (on Discovery channel?) that hes still bitter and thinking disdainfully of himself. This was enough to ruin Moneys reputation, but sadly, it didnt have any serious affect on his career or financial status. He is still alive doing research on his own goddamn theory to uphold his fame and fortune. And thats not even the saddest part; theyre still printing this steaming fallacious pile of shit in textbooks. But this thankfully didnt go unnoticed by several psychologists and professors ranging across 50 different countries around the world, including my Psych teacher who pinpointed this error in my class textbook just today.
There were also a few other cases, BTW, represented by one discussed in class, which was a female brain living in a male body, living a family life that we perceive as normal for someone of her masculine form, but resentful to her internally.
Back to the central point: I donāt think I can speak much for Roxy, but basically, while Poison did have a sex-change operation, it was only to attain the lifestyle that was rightfully hers. Some might think that Poison did it because shes gay, partly because she was also in love with Cody. But the important thing to understand is, if she was truly male, she wouldnt have had herself changed. She couldve stayed in a male body and still been in love with Cody, but little do most know that it wouldnt have made her gay, and living gay requires NO sex change to live happily (cuz then, gay relationships simply wouldnt exist). And pretending to like women as the person above wouldve meant a more depressing life for her. Gender identity and sexual orientation are two different things, and are commonly mistaken to have a connection with each other. Sex orientation may very well be genetic too, since ones sexuality is normally discovered, not created. Poison didnt need influence from her criminal life to have the sexual desire for men, or even to change herself (besides, with Mad Gear, what influence is there?). Poison didnt get to hook up with Cody of course, but you dont see her feeling regretful of the decision to change after putting him away in FFR, in SF3, or even in SvC where some obscure details about the SF characters are better exposed. Dressing as a woman in a mans body doesnt make her a transvestite either, because by definition, a transvestite would have to take pleasure in dressing as the opposite sex, which she knows deep down that isnt the opposite of hers.
Now one of the problems I have with this is that it further discloses how the FF continuity still remains screwed up with Capcoms approval of FFR. Poison and Roxy had already had their bodies changed during FF1, as they originally had said themselves, and it shows in the fact that when you knock them out, the scream they let out IS feminine. There was no way for Capcom USA to tell that they were male, in spite of what Capcom Jp told them, which was also misinformed in the first place. Never mind that you frequently beat on Billy and Sid in Capcom USAs SNES and GBA ports; Poisons and Roxys feminine voices were replaced by the generic male K.O. voice when their sprites were altered to look like Billy and Sid. I played the arcade version yesterday at a theater arcade and found out that I was correct about this the whole time.
From a logical standpoint, to call Poison gay, a transvestite, or a new-half is an overstatement, because she always has been female in her mind. But Capcom, as far as we know, did not state this, but used one of the three descriptions above instead. This bothers me too because it indicates that they dont know jack about cross-gender issues. This is one area they should definitely not touch when designing a character ever again.
But in their defense, they may not be the only ones; Sammy could be guilty of this too for creating Bridget, because all of what I explained here proves how pointless his design really is. At first, I thought he meant to calm his parents down by saying he was perfectly fine living in the guise of a female in his bio, knowing he was born male. But all of this is tossed out the window by his win-quote to Baiken, in which he comments on how shes perfected acting masculine for her gender and asks if she could give him (get this) tips on being less feminine.
I know these are only video games were talking about here, but damn, this is just flaunting of their ignorance. I guess we canāt expect even our favorite companies to avoid societal cliches.

Letās put it this way. The more you learn about something, the easier it is to locate shit like this in mediums and tear it apart. Itās a fascination that comes as you get older. Video games are like movies and sitcoms; they all have some back story to them that may or may not make sense. This is one of those instances in SF that donāt, not just āscientifically,ā but ācanonically.ā We tend to do this with everything. Why do you think bad reviews even exist?

I agree that you shouldnāt call Drag Queens Gay, but for another reason entirely. The majority of them are not Gay. Itās almost a Societal Problem rather than a Sexual one. Women can wear whatever they want. They can wear dresses, pants, no make up, Boxers and no one will say anything. Men on the other hand actually have fewer things to wear - heck, most of us canāt even wear pink or light purple without being called a Homo let alone a Dress.
This whole phenomenom can be witnessed in Pokemon. Everyone past the age of 5 years old thinks James is Gay. One time he did fall in love with a girl and another time he regarded another girl as being cute and hearts appeared in his eyes. But just the fact that he tends to cross dress makes people think heās Gay. (It doesnāt help that his American Voice Actor makes him sound extra Fruityā¦ he doesnāt sound this bad in the Japanese Version, except of course when he sings in the CD Drama). But Iāve never heard anyone ever call Jesse a Lesbian! Sheās dressed up as a man just as much as James dresses up as a girl and she is extremely bossy and manly! About the Nurture vs. Nature thing - Hmmm. When someone told me that Homosexual behavior was displayed in Animals I thought people had to be born Gay. But, two things make me question that.

There is an Inner City problem going on that is very ill researched but comedians talk about it a lot. Many African American and Latino Women face the problem of most of their Male counterparts being killed at a young age, becoming low lifes and Gangsters, just sleeping around and treat them badly. On top of that these women are making more money then the Male counterparts and tend to want Males who make more money. Some just go outside of their race, but some become Lesbians! Having met a few Women like this, they tend to flirt with guys and grope us at times as if they were not Gay, but when asked they call themselves Lesbians when they are clearly Bisexuals at best because real Lesbians Iāve met donāt act this way at all.
So, under very very extreme circumstances I say itās possible to convert someone but it is still not very likely and predominantly most Homosexuals are born that way.
Well, Iām not sure how far Iāve strayed from the topic but the thing with Capcom is that they have yet to state clearly beyond a shadow of a doubt if Poison got a Sex Change and theirin lies the problem. Through the eyes of the State she will still be described as Male even if she got said Sex Change Operation. The Government is not going to bother to retroactivly change your Birth Certificate to match your new Sex or whatever color youāve decided to dye your Hair Color or eyes. I donāt think AAC is dealing with Scientific Reasoning when they call Poison a Male, and what Science says today they retroactivly change tomorrow. Of course, Capcom does tooā¦

Uhm, GF, have you ever read Desmond Morris? as I was reading your post I remembered a whole chapter from the Human Zoo. In this he explained how kids went for a homosexual orientation. Yes, animals display homosexual behavior, but there is a common factor for homosexual animals: captivity when an animal is free, it doesnāt engage in homosexual activity, seve for training purposes (i think itās present in some wolves, but I donāt recallā¦:().
On the other side, captive animals also engage in homicidal and suicidal tendencies, obessity, stress, senseless violence, anorexia, masturbation, and several other manias we well know from the city dweller humans. Iām pretty much in the Dark Ages with a lot of PC stuff but whenever I try to Post a Pic here, I have to break down the Bytes or something and itās just easier for me to just send it to you. Also, look around the Net and you just may come across it. Gouki, doesnāt seem to have that much official Art to fish through.
I donāt think the Speed of Fireballs has been stated, just that the Sonic Boom is the fastest. I would guess, Danās Gadouken is the slowest, of course, it would probably disperse before anyone tried to clock itās Speed with a Stopwatch! LOL!
OT - Picked up the first 2 issues of the Hong Kong SVC Comic. Starts off like the Gameās Intro, and then Gouki beats up Kyo and Mr. Karate beats up Ryu. Terry takes on Vega, Mike Bison and Riot Iori and gets knocked out of a Window! Balrog the Spanish Ninja saves his life. (Thereās Pics of this at MMcafe on a thread called SVC Comics. MMcafe seems to be down right now though, least on my connection.) And I donāt know how, I donāt know why, but Shin and Cap from Card Fighters Clash are in the Comic as either Gods, Ghosts or Spirits! So far the only major screw up I witnessed was when Demitri fought Kyo (Kyo kicked his way out of a Midnight Bliss so no transformation for us!) Demitri went home running when the Sun came up. As you may or may not know Demitriās Yellow Aura protects him from Sunlight. Well, itās such a little known fact (I myself only found this out from Saiki a short while ago) itās almost excusable. All and all, Iāve seen worse Hong Kong comics and as long as no one gets decapitated or places their severed Arm back in place and heals it up maybe the book wonāt turn out to be all that bad. Ah, who am I kidding.

It was drawn by Bengus (who created Akuma) and is a parody of a scene/frame in the SF2:Animated Movie.
Its hard to see on a small screen TV (specialy if it has a thick casing) but thereās a scene/frame in the India part of the movie that is shown right before the Shadowloo agent kills some guy, then gets killed himself. Anyways, if you look closely, on the far left Akuma is sitting against the wall, as if he is selling fruit or something, and this is where the pic comes from.

I donāt really understand the reasoning. If anything this proves that Poisonās scenario is possible. She was born in a male body but got an operation to change into her ārealā sex. Still, she would legally be considered a male.
In English class, we read a book on this subject called Brain Sex by Moir and Jessel. They say the brain is conditioned into becoming either male or female in several stages using hormones, and if those hormones arenāt available part of the brain might function like a femaleās (which is the default stage).
As for kakuto-jutsu, it just means āfighting techniquesā. Not a real martial art.

Yea, I saw that. Actually have a fan art of those figures on my hard drive. They come in black suits and white suits. I actually donāt care too much for them, myself, though (Juniās hair looks strange and I prefer the Doll outfit to the outfits the figures have. Actual Doll figures with the actual Doll outfit donāt exist yet, after all, besides some custom ones made by extreme fans).

He seems pretty powerful to me, since he can deflect laser beams of death star caliber with just his fire ball (AoF team ending in KOF2k). That would explain why Serious Mr. Karate is Shin Akumaās counterpart.
Of course, that doesnāt explain why his team always loses the KOF tournaments, but SNK power tiers never did mesh well with the KOF storyline, I think.
Sano- About societal pressure concerning sexuality, your reasons arenāt that much different from mine. Of course, you can still be influenced to like members of the same sex, but youād have to be taught that behavior at a very young age. Itās just that gay people who have no intervening influences in life often discover theyāre gay through attempting to be straight, but to no avail. And they usually canāt explain why theyre gay. Itās actually much like how we canāt even explain how were straight. Normally, were born that way. Even still, it doesnāt take a sex change or transvestite tendancies to make your sexuality more acceptable. You like whoever you like, and thereās nothing you can do about it.
This is absolutely not true. Sexuality cannot be forcefully changed, nor judged by environmental behavior. The reason people in jail commit homosexual acts is that they badly want sex, and thereās no one else they can come into contact with but those of the same sex. After a while of experimentation, they get used to sleeping with each other and continue to do it anyway, not because they turn gay, but because it doesnāt matter who it is theyāre having sex with for them to feel good. McCall thinks heās gay, but he only cares about pleasure. He doesnāt realize that he doesnāt have to LIKE men to feel good sleeping with them.
Its sad to hear, especially coming from a homophobe like me, but it goes without saying. I remember watching this Jerry Springer episode (I was bored, watcha gonna do?) where this transvestite offered a straight guy in the audience an oil massage. This guy was under the assumption that he was gonna be pleasured by a hot female, so he accepted, got his massage, and admitted that it felt good. Then when it was revealed to him he was getting rubbed by a man, he pretended to act like he got infected by some ghastly disease. Yet, the sensations were still there, despite not knowing he was rubbed by a man.
Im guessing the most likely scenario is that some of them grew up not liking men because they learned about their low-life status, and whatnot, but I doubt something can cause you to simply turn gay overnight.
Well, the old sex theory that you are what youre raised to be had already been disproved thirty years ago, but not everybody knows about the John-to-Joan incident I described. Thats what I find most unfortunate (not counting in Capcoms and Sammys ignorance on the subject).
Jaldaboath- I wasnt trying to argue that its impossible for ones sexual orientation to change, just that normally, homosexuals are born that way and that its often confused with their gender identity. Very rarely do I hear about few things impacting preference for male or female at a mature age. However, malprinting, as you explained, is not permanent, because phobias are just mental disorders that can easily be overcome. And they dont necessarily come from traumatic experiences. Im arachnophobic, but I cant recall a time when something terrible happened that made me hate spiders. Incidentally, my brother, sister, and mother are afraid of spiders too. Hmmm, now Im leaning more towards the possibility that phobias can become inherited as well.

Yes, and legally, its a bunch of nonsense. Like sano pointed out, the governments not going to bother changing your birth certificate to match whichever sex you change into. But even if they wanted to, they cant. They have no way of analyzing your gender identity. They could only record what they know about your appearance and assume thats your real sex. You, and you alone, determine what sex you are, not your body or what anyone else tells you. Its not a matter of choice on your part either. You simply cant live and feel normal as a gender youre not, and thats why some people have sex change operations.
Whats important to understand is that law is just a matter of conventional morality; its concerned with interpersonal relationships and conformity, compliance with duty and procedure, and keeping social harmony, not to uphold universal principles of ethics or science. The two do not mix, and still, science doesnt need to be counted into the equation to learn that not everything about the law makes sense.
Anyway, Poisons perfectly fine with the way she is now and doesnt regret changing one bit. Thats all she needs for the scenario to be the plain truth, not just a possibility. Of course, as far as legalities go, Poison has to be a male anyway because Capcom said so, in which case, gender identity doesnt seem to apply to any of their characters at all.
I dont know how credible Moir and Jessel are, but that book sounds dated. Youd think that after getting your testicles burned off in an accident, youd no longer be able to produce the hormones needed for your brain to function like a males. That didnt happen with Joan.
