Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

STREET FIGHTER 4 UPDATE

There are a few things already known about SF4.

  1. It will in fact be 2D

  2. Ryu will be the only (classic) returning character

  3. They have begun to work on it (thats all they said, didnt say if that was pre-production work or not)

  4. The game will come out when Capcom celbrates SF’s 20th Anniversary, which wont be till 2007 or 2008 (depending if you go by the US or Japanese anniversary of SF)

All of these things have either been stated in interviews, or at shows, by various Capcom employees or represenitives.

Rumors:

  • The 2D Animation will rival most animated shows or movies

  • Mel Masters (Ken’ son) will make an appearence

  • Based on a leaked concept sketch, Ryu will have a new look (3 diffrient versions of Ryu appeared in the sketch, all had diffrient gis, but they all had an unshaved [but not a beard] look to them)

I seperated the rumors from facts.

There is not more widespread knowledge because the people of Capcom only told these things to several people who asked about them at shows and such. That and its all from Japan, ie its fairly common knowledge in Japan.

Of all the stuff Ive heard about SF4, I havnt heard jack about the gameplay, not even any rumors, so Im wondering if they’re gonna try and make the gameplay classic (SF2-SF3) or new age (Alpha3-MvC2) or a combination of the two.

A Capcom rep at some show (think it was E3, or the Japanese equivilent of E3) said they had been working on SF4, but didnt say if that work was pre-production or not, and this was like 2 years ago, and another Capcom rep said that they wouldnt be releasing SF4 (if they were making it) till their 20th anniversary of SF.

Now I know for a fact a SF related game is in production at Capcom, and the above also implies that a SF game could come out between now and 2007 or 2008 (Capcom’s 20th Anniversary of SF) but it wont be SF4.

Considering the amount of time Capcom has been working on and will be working on SF4, it had better be good, or at least I think it will be good.

Why does alot of Americans hate fermented soybeans in capcom games?

Which ones? Off the top of my head, the only American character in a Capcom game that I can think of with that dislike is Tiffany from Rival Schools.

Isn’t fermented soybeans the same thing as natto? The Insert Credit webmaster guy was treated to that by Professor of Madman’s Cafe, and it was supposedly disgusting. All cultures seem to have these kind of dishes that noone actually wants to eat.

Anyway, that confirms that Rose and Guile have met Ryu somewhere along the way.

That would ruin everything.

Haven’t they learned already from SF3?

Well, teh fans will probaly bitch/wine/cry/omplain again, and Capcom will once again have to put in those classic characters, so you never know whats gonna happen.

Shutting the fans up is reason enough to bring those classic characters back. Besides, they gotta develop Alex’s storyline more.

Well, when just adding Ryu in SF4 won’t work, they’ll make SF4 Second Impact: Champion Edition and give us Ken and Gouki. Then they’ll make SF4 Fourth Strike: The new challengers Turbo and return Chun-Li.

While I’ll miss Chun-Li, things may be OK with Ryu being the only one returning (He is my favorite character) It can work out well if the new character designs are really good. Capcom neeeds to hire lots of Manga Artists… Methinks Ingrid, D.D. and Rook will be in the game…

Most of the character’s stories seemed pretty much finished except for a few Zero/Alpha people, but Alex really needs another appearance.

Thankfully they just placed an SVC Arcade machine close to my job, and I was the first one there and actually got to play the game! Because the other Arcade I used to go to, you couldn’t play the game but had to fight lots of people off. That’s fun too but I like playing the game once in a while to see how I do and stuff. I had a good run with Chun-Li until a Kyo user beat me. Aah, can’t win’em all.

I managed to see the “Engrish” version of Chun-Li and Guile’s dialog. Pretty much the same as Saiki’s translation, but instead of Guile saying “…its confidential” he says it’s a military operation. The conversation goes on a bit longer than the Jappnese version but overall it’s the same thing.

Chun-Li fought her double and her double said she had better legs! She tells Kim to hand over the criminals he’s hiding out!

In slight defense of the game, since SVC is not a Tourney like CVS or SVC for the NGP, I guess they need the intros to explain why the heck these people are fighting. Why Chun-Li’s being a catty arrest them all character I don’t know. Since they made Mai a Super Slut I guess there’s some balance, at least.

Whole lot of SVC intros -

Some more intros with Chun-Li I saw. I’d post them on the Site I put a link to but I forgot my Password over there. Have to look for it later since I’m not on my PC right now. All of these are by memory so they won’t be perfect.

Chun-Li vs. Chun-Li

Forgot to mention Chun-Li’s double says she has softer skin

Ryu vs. Chun-Li

Chun-Li - HEEEYAH!!! HEEEYAH!!! HEEEYAH!!!
Ryu - What was that?
Chun-Li - You just missed out on some fun (I guess RYu walked in on Chun-Li practicing her Lightning Kick)
The rest of it is a conversation of the two friends wishing to spar again

Chun-Li vs. Dan

Dan - Feel the power of my Saikyo Groove!
Chun-Li - Is this a joke? Where’s the Hidden Camera?
Dan - My Saikyo style will beat you!
Chun-Li - This will be over in 2 seconds

Chun-Li vs. Violent Ken

Violent Ken - I will kill you! OOOOWA!!! (You saw the ooowa coming from a mile away!)
Chun-Li - You don’t look well Ken

sano, you’re in NYC right?

Where is this arcade that has the SvC machine? I work at midtown (5th and 55th) and if the place is close enough I’d like to check out the game. Thanks!

If you’re not in NYC then oops on my part and just disregard this msg

Yeah, it’s on Broad Street, really far from where your at. I’ll give you an address this afternoon. The crowd is not that bad compared the Machine in China Town Fair on 8 and Mott Street if you wanna come after work. Most of the people on Broad St. are playing CVS2 still, as there’s some neighborhood rivalry going on or something.

Sol & Son Game Trade Center, Inc.
59 Nassau Street (Near Maiden Lane)

My confusion was that Broad Street turns into Nassau Street, but here’s where the SVC Machine is at. And just in case you didn’t know and don’t have a copy of Street Fighter issue 1, Jim Hanley’s on 33rd Street across from the Empire State Building still has a bunch of them, as it seems it’s sold out everywhere else.

Thanks man. You’re right, it is a bit far - i think its further away from me than Chinatown Fair. And since they close at 7 I won’t be able to stay long after I get off work. Appreciate the info though, I might still try to go someday.

Luckily, I was able to get a copy of the comic (from Midtown Comics). Great stuff, only comic book I’ll be collecting since I stopped the hobby about 6 years ago.

There’s rumors all over the place about a Sammy vs. Capcom game coming out made by Sammy, and with people confirming this at Madman’s Cafe I’m starting to beleive it!

REPENT!!! THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US!!!

Hehehe. Chun’s passive reaction towards Violent Ken is hilarious.

But yea, Sammy vs Capcom is pretty much confirmed by now.

I may get to play SvC this weekend. If so, I’ll bring a camera and record any win quotes I see…

I hope it’s not GG vs. SF, 'cuz that would suck. Not as bad as MvC, but it’s still bizarre and uneven.

Any crossover with Sammy would need Darkstalkers and/or VS style characters. Combining with SF style fighting would be to weird.

Sammy vs. Capcom - So far SF Characters have not been mentioned. Funamizu himself mentioned Darkstalkers and people keep talking about Rival Schools Characters (I think Funamizu mentioned RS too but I forget) Well, least some RS Characters use weapons.

Hyper SF2 X is the rumored game to be coming to PS2, not SF 2.5 or whatever. Speculation is heavy that the SF2 Remake will have new Graphics, High Res Sprites and On-Line Play, but we’ll have to wait until September 25-26 for the Tokyo Show for more information. Sure everyone knows this already…

Voice Actor Fact of the week - Just watched the last episode of GTO and realized that Wataru Takagi was the voice of main character Onizuka Eikichi. He’s also provided the voices of SFZ3’s Adon, Sodom, Birdie, Zangief and Gen. Oh, and I saw my favorite Voice Actor Yuji Ueda (Sagara Sanosuke, Jin Saotome, Zappa) in Rival School’s credits! Not sure if he does more than one voice but I can tell he does Shoma’s since it sounds like Jin’s/Sanosuke’s.

On another Site, TAS told me about a new SF Anniversary book. From what I read on other Sites, it seems it’s mostly Gameplay stuff and there is only one Kinu Nishimura Drawing of SF Girls Fighting. Think I’ll wait for that drawing to show up on the Net since the cover doesn’t even have new art.
