GF2 - You got a point! Still to difficult for me to guess who’s the strongest between the three.
Those pictures are from the new SF Eternal Art Book released a few months ago. It’s OK but could of been better.
Regarding the words on Ryu’s belt “Fuu Rin Ka Zan” - don’t the two ninjas from World Heroes (Hanzo and Fuuma) say that in one of their moves…I think its for their version of the hurricane kick where they glide across the screen with their bodies spinning. I recall they said something like 'Ninpo Fuu Rin Kazan".
Nothing important, just a small useless observation.
About Poison and Roxy:
Was there really any way for Capcom USA to tell they weren’t females? Do they positively sound like guys in Final Fight 1? I just got the game on my GBA, and as I’ve been listening through all the SEs in the options menu, I heard a female scream that was NOT Jessica’s. Whose else could it possibly be? I think I remember hearing that same scream coming from Poison and Roxy in the arcade version, too.
Never mind that they’re not in the US version; the BGMs include a remix of the original Industrial Area track that doesn’t play during the course of the stage itself.
A couple more things to add about Final Fight:
I think the reason a-Cody talks about standing in front of a dog is because it’s really a hint that there’s a dog that actually gives you health in that stage. Halfway through the level (past the bathroom), the first dog you’ll see will replenish your vitality when you walk right up to it, then keep moving up and down, touching the dog over and over until your life guage is full.
Also, I know knocking over drums for food is a necessity in FF, but right after the boss dialogue in the West Side level, Edi.E spits the gum out of his mouth for you to pick up and,… eeulllllgh!!! Almost completely restore your health!!!
Guy, Cody, and Haggar are fucking savages!!! :wasted:
Hey you guys wanna help me out with something?

This guy is an idiot and wont listen. Maybe if multiple people keep telling him he’s wrong he’ll listen.
I’ve been reading some of the SFZ3 character bios at capcom japan’s official website and I’ve learned some little details that you might/might not know.
Karin is definitely 16 during SFZ3, so you can confirm that. It also states that she’s well versed in various Bushido, military arts, and “sports combative”. I’m guessing the sports combative thing means she’s good at sports…? Just so ya know I was translating it with tan’s japanese to english translator. It’s waaay better than Babelfish or whatever it’s called.
It looks like Dhalsim was present during SFZ3 for the same reason he’s in any/every SF game: an illness hit his village and he reluctantly turned to street fighting to make money in order to pay for the medical expenses.
Birdie worked as a pro wrestler AND a bar bouncer at some point in his life. I think tiamat only acknowledged the pro wrestler part in his FAQ. His bio says: “The bodyguard of a bar. A basis is a show pro wrestler…”
Rolento wants to build a state “for the military man by the military man”. Gives a tiny bit of insight on what his vision of a utopia is.
Rose is referred to as the fortune teller of Genoa.
Ohhhh, so that explains it. When Ryu meets Tabasa in SvC, that’s who he says she reminds him of.
It was a hunch that he’d be referring to Rose. Course, the Genoa thing’s still new to my ears, so it kinda messed with me a little.
I read somewhere that Ryu’s present bust(?) size is 112 and that it was only 110 during the Zero series. It makes sense, considering the stats/bios tiamat uses in his faq are from SFZ3.
Genoa: a large jib that overlaps the mainsail and is used especially in racing
…that’s what I got from Webster’s. Odd. It’s also stated by Webster to be an Italian word.
Anyway, thanks for the info, Golden Dragon! Cool beans Dunno about that Ryu changing bust thing. Blarg, I dislike tracking down bits of info as small as 2 centimeters. Maybe when I have more time. Is that Tan Japanese to English translator available to the public?
Poison and Roxy… well, to me they sound like guys, at least. I suppose maybe it could be that their voices are really REALLY horrible, though.
I figured the dog thing was just a reference to the Bay Area in general, though that health trick makes lots of sense as to why Cody would stop by it. Hmm.
Genoa is a city in Italy.
I second that. This would prove to be most useful. Please share.
GD: Those stats make sense, Ryu’s build seems a bit larger in SF2&3 when compared to SFA
Tas: That guys not worth the time of day.
No problem, guys and yeah the translator’s available to all. I’ll give you the link:
http://www.tans.org/translater.shtml
You just put in the url of the website u wanna translate and press translate. Btw, Clay’s right. Genoa’s a city in Italy. I knew I should’ve explained what it was just in case. If anyone’s curious, here’s the full definition of Genoa from dictionary.com:
Genoa- A city of northwest Italy on the Gulf of Genoa, an arm of the Ligurian Sea. An ancient settlement, Genoa flourished under the Romans and also enjoyed great prosperity during the Crusades. Today, it is Italy’s chief seaport and a major commercial and industrial center. Population: 675,659.
Oooo. Now we know the exact city Rose comes from. Keen!
runs SFZ3 win quotes through translator
Thank you very much for the link, sir!
Words cannot express how much I appreciate it.
Yeah, good job on that translator! Now I can finally read the SF 15th anniversary website.
OKAY, HERE ARE SOMETHING’s I’ve learned so far:
A lot of Japanese websites list “general bushido” as one of Ryu’s likes. Also, Youkan, or Yokan(sp?), is a sweet jellied bean paste.
Tiamat’s FAQ has beer listed as one of Balrog’s likes. He’s not wrong, but a lot of Japanese websites list it as bourbon. I remember dashtaisen listed it as bourbon, when it still existed. Maybe bourbon and beer are the same thing. I don’t know my alcohol very well.
One of the Japanese websites I went to listed M. Bison’s birthday as September 4. I dunno if it’s reliable or not.
In case u don’t know, umeboshi (one of ken’s dislikes), are pickled plums.
All the Japanese sites I’ve been to so far add another part to Guile’s dislike of fermented soy beans. Instead of just saying fermented soybeans, it says “Fermented soybeans given to Ryu in Japan.” Something tells me it’s the other way around andthat Ryu gave fermented soybeans to Guile, but I dunno. Recently I went to a Japanese Guile fan site and it was explaining Guile’s backstory during the SF2 series. It was the usual “After charlie was murdered by Vega, Guile leaves his family to avenge his friend” bit, but then it started explaining how after investigating Charlie’s death, Guile tried to have Bison thrown in jail or something, so he brought the evidence/proof to court, but he lost the case because the court was corrupt. Apparently, the court was under bison’s influence or he had bribed them. It was something to that affect. But then I thought to myself, “I’m not certain, but didn’t something like this happen in the SF2 anime?” Anyway, I kept reading and at the end of the back story, the guy who wrote it said something like “I didn’t think this was the official/formal story until I read ALLABOUT.” Obviously he was referring to the All About Capcom fighting games book, so maybe it is official. Then again, you might wanna check with Saiki.
I was reading some stuff on the Capcom of Japan website, and was suprised to see/read the storylines for the VS games.
I didnt even think the VS games, ie XvSF, MvSF, MvC, MvC2, even had storylines. I just thought they threw all the characters for the fans, and gave the characters crazy/wacky endings (cept MvC2, with its weak ass uncolored, no text, single ending that it had)
I wouldve copy and pasted the translated stories, but I accidently exited the site, and Im too tired to go back too it.
Interesting Guile story.
By the way, could anyone here please write down Guile and Chun’s conversation in SVC?
Saiki’s translation of the Japanese Dialog between the two. Probably better than the “Engrish” version.
Guile vs. Chun-Li
Chun-Li - Hey Guile, what are you doing here?
Guile - …it’s confidential
Chun-Li - You haven’t changed one bit
Guile - You seem to have trained yourself even more, you wanna battle?
Chun-Li - Sure
