Jitsu, and jutsu, means “art”. Kenjutsu is the “sword art”. Jiu-jitsu is the “soft art”, and Judo is “soft way”.

We can hope a great comic series!

there is no Jiu-jitsu. It’s Jujutsu.
Not to try and correct Saiki or anything, but jutsu means “technique/s”. Bujutsu = war techniques = general term for martial arts. Jujutsu = soft/gentle techniques. Kenjutsu = sword techniques. It generally applies to the actual moves. If you use “do” instead, it means the entire way of martial arts. Budo = way of the war. Judo = way of the soft/gentle.
Most of the time for fighters, a “jutsu” is used instead of a “do”.
Anyway, Nancy is definitely around 20. She’s got short blond hair (cut like Jenny’s in Bloody Roar), a top with bare shoulders and a short skirt. She doesn’t really look like Jessica but she’s the right age. Besides, Haggar doesn’t look like himself either so it’s probably a really old picture.
The book is from 1995 though so if they changed the name, it should have been noted somewhere.
Jiu-jutsu is not wrong per se, but it isn’t right either.
The true and correct way to say it is Jujutsu. But if you say/write Jiu-jutsu, Jujitsu, Jiu-jitsu, etc… People will still know what you’re talking about. In fact, some schools still use those variations today.
BTW, the true way to write “Jujutsu” is a series of kanji that I don’t know (I wish I could use HerV’s trannie symbol right now)
It’s just like Kenpo/Kempo neither is wrong and neither is truly right either.
[/nitpicking]
Well, it’s still wrong. Like Japanese kah-rah-teh versus English ka-RAW-tay. Jiujitsu is just a mispronunciation/misspelling of jujutsu.
Kenpo/kempo is different. The actual character is “n” but in front of “p” it’s pronounced as “m”. So you can use either.
I have a little comment concerning the amount of time between Third Strike and Double Impact. Third Strike takes place exactly a year after Double Impact. Read the dialogue between Sean and Ken in Third Strike. Sean says something like “I’m not the same person I was a year ago”. Also, for the last time KEN & GUILE ARE NOT BROTHERS-IN-LAW!!! Guile’s married to Jane/Julia, so that would make him Eliza’s brother-in-law and Ken’s married to Eliza, so that would make him Jane’s brother-in-law. There’s no in-law relationship between Ken and Guile.
The brother of my sister is my brother!
Or… not. I don’t know what else to call it, though. The “Ken Eliza Guile Jane” connection sounds corny.
OT - TiamatRoar - Just noticed the words above your Avatar! “Street Fighter Eternal Delay.” Now that’s funny!!!
doesn’t seem likely. Why would Sagat be upset at Ryu right now?
They’ve made their peace, Right?
That is a flashback to when Ryu fought Sagat in Street Fighter 1. BEFORE the scar.
Sagat’s not pissed off as much as arrogant.
And here, Ryu’s got the black hair and red headband?
What’s Udon basing this comic’s story on? Popularity?
Noticed in the SVC Arcade in Ryu and Kyo’s dialog in the US version that they don’t know each other as they introduce themselves. Is this true in the Japanese Version? This should clearly show people that it is not CVS3 as people are suggesting, because, at least they would know each other. I guess the game has nothing to do with the Neo Geo Pocket Game either. Course everyone’s Super Deformed in that game anyways, but the game was so good I never pictured the characters that way.
Three different companies - Old SNK made SVC for the Neo Geo Pocket, Capcom made you know what and the new SNK/Playmore made SVC Chaos - three different realities. How cool is that?
Hey sano, did you see any shit-talking between those two?
And I agree. The “SvC IS CvS3” people are pretty retarded.
From what I recall, the dialog was like one of them saying “You’re no slacker, what’s you’re name?” and they both told the other their names. Of course, everyone in the Arcade is skipping the intro dialogs, so you constanlty have to tell people to not press the button and skip it so you can see it, and you can only do that if it’s your quarter. Luckily, few others care about the dialogs so you get to catch some here and there.
One of the funniest ones was Genjyuro vs. Gouki. They were trash talking, I think Genjyuro said something about cutting off Gouki’s tongue, and Gouki said in a one word sentence, “Rumble!” to kick off the fight.
GOUKI SAID RUMBLE! SNK BACKWARDS ENGLISH RULES!
Doesn’t look like it. I mean, they’re fighting in a warehouse of all places.
Why would Sagat be arrogant at this point?
Granted he’s world champion and all that but everything I’ve seen suggests he might be over-confident about beating Ryu, not arrogant.
Udon has come right out and said that this is in fact that fateful first encounter between the two.
Btw, long time reader to this thread. You guys have done a really good job of fleshing out the intricacies of the SF storyline, my highest regards to you.
Here’s something that has been lingering in the back of my head since I first saw the SF2 Animated Movie. Because of that anime, I’ve always referred to Gouken’s temple where he trained Ryu and Ken was called “Gourinji.” This comes from the scene where Vega/Bison is getting the comparative info on Ken and Ryu on that monitor aboard his ship. It lists their stats, and then for the DOJO heading it offers “Gourinji.” Of course, the fact that right beneath that statistic it lists “Goutetsu” as their sensei does diminish the credibility of the source. Regardless, is there any confirmation of this as being the actual name of the dojo? And, for curiousity’s sake, what does “Gourinji” fully translate to?
Hey, I was just wondering about Rolento again… okay, more like his weapon. Can you make him drop it in Final Fight and pick it up? What’s the name of the weapon? I know it’s made out of metal, but I want to know if it’s really a pipe or not.
You can’t pick it up in Final Fight and he never drops it there. In Final Fight Revenge, I believe it’s referred to as “Stick”, though.
Tiamat - A few things…
And I think I finally found AKIMAN’s site (although Id rather find a BENGUS site)
http://www12.big.or.jp/~akiman/
When Hinita says she applies “Ken Masters Techniques” to her moves she is talking about channeling her ki to create fire/flames at the ends of her limbs, notably her legs, since she does a flaming hurricane kick (something Ken shouldve always had, but for some reason dosnt)
Also noticed some people talking about the board game, and if you want some really cool info on that see my next post.
YAY! That gives them time to make my game (HAHA!)
Anyways, that dosnt seem right, from what Ive heard from my friends in Japan, and what Erik (Udoneko) and Capcom Of America have been hinting at.
The last time my friends (in Japan) told me any news about what was going on with the next SF (related) game, they said it was still under some codename like “Project X” cause theyre trying to keep it all secretive, and I remember before CFAS was officialy canceled they pulled all the team members off that game to work on another game, but they woulnt say what game (and this time CFAS was put on a “Hiatus” status, but like a week later it was officialy canceled)
I found another AKIMAN site (maybe??) and there are a lot of impressive artwork he has drawn over the years (50+ pages worth). Don’t know if anyone has posted this yet but here you go…
