Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Yea, I’m trying to figure out how Capcom of Japan could make such a stupid statement when SOMEONE there has to be trying to connect everything, considering how SF2 Revival had so many small but significant changes to reconcile with Alpha. Sadly, right now, Okamoto leaving is the only explanation :frowning:

Sagat has just the Tiger Uppercut in CvS2, but it does do multiple hits like the Tiger Blow.

Remember how Sagat says in his A2 ending that he needs something better than the Tiger Blow, but he has to find it on his own? He may have developed the Uppercut after leaving Bison, but before quitting Shadaloo permanently.

Can someone post a link to the Ryu_Chun pic? Just curious.

Was there ever anymore news about the reported Fighting RPG that Capcom was developing? The one using Shenmue-style engine?

GF2 - Beat me to it. Thanks! In SFZ3 Sagat has the Tiger Uppercut (he says Tiger Uppercut instead of Tiger Blow) but only in Xism where he plays SF2 style. It’s about a 2 hit Attack. Maybe you can get more hits but not as many as the Tiger Blow. Oddly, in SF2 New Challengers Turbo you can get about 5 hits or so with the Tiger Uppercut. Why it’s lessened in SFZ Xism when it should be increased from Tiger Blow or at least be on par with Sagat’s SF2 Tiger Uppercut I don’t know. Guess this is where Gameplay interferes with Storyline. Well, all seems right in CVS2 with his Uppercut being powerful and all, sort of, even if it’s a Tiger Blow.

Thinking out loud, Okamoto did executive Produce the SFZ Anime if memory serves and if you think if he was the storyline guru behind SF he’d smack the creators on the back of their heads and say, “Guy knows Ryu, Ken, Sodom and Rolento DAMN IT!” Meh, given how short the Anime was this would probably confuse non SF Fanatics who watched this Anime and it’s not canon anyways. The characters do move the way they are supposed to in the games so that’s a plus.

Hey, checked on the SF Poll. My man Remy cracked the Top Ten! Cammy’s pretty high too! This Vote reflects a few hours ago since It took me a while to translate, but here are the top 25 using Japanese Names. Numbers at the end represent votes of course.

  25. YANG (SF3) 279

Dan’s right behind with 276. This sure is a fun vote!

Wow. Karin’s ahead of Sakura, now. That’s… surprising

And cripes did Cammy make one heck of a come-back. Never knew that Vega was so popular, though. Especially never knew that Oro was.

…BWAHAHAHAHAHA! R. Mika is ahead of Akuma!!!

Masaaki Hatsumi is the 34th master of the Togakure-ryu Ninjutsu, the first ninja art, created by Daisuke Nishina. Masaaki is the leader of the Bujin-kai (Warrior God Fundation - any relation with Guy? ).
I have one question: if Togakure is the first ninja art, and Masaaki is the 34th master, why Guy is the 39th master of Bushin? What is the explanation? Bushin masters die early? Or the Bushin-ryu is the older ninja clan, in SF universe?

Oh and watching the final episode of SF 2 Victory, I heard Bison saying to Ryu and Ken “The your Hado energy and my Psycho Power coming from this place.” I believe that Capcom of Japan decides make Satsui no Hadou and the Psycho Power “sister” energies after SF2V.

Hcparker - Didn’t I send you a Pic of the Shadowloo Base with the Art of Ryu and Chun-Li a while back and called it “MAP”, or something? It’s the same Pic.

I wouldnt really say that poll is too reliable. The fact that it lets people vote once per day. I bet there’s alot of ppl who keeps voting everyday to boost their fav character higher.

Anyways, I’m still in the middle of reading the SF artbook but two things caught my attention.
It says that Hugo is from Final Fight. It doesn’t say that he’s Andore but it says he’s from Final Fight.
And the other one is the interview with the main ppl that made SF. They were all asked when the next SF is and they answered that their was nothing planned or in the works. They said that if they were to make another one, it would be five years from now marking the 20th anniversary of SF.

blink blink

All the beautiful things in the world are gone.

…or at least, from the Street Fighter side of the spectrum. I can’t help but wonder how they expect anyone to actually CARE 5 years from now, considering that that’ll make it literally 50% of SF’s lifetime since the last Street Fighter game Oo

Thanks for the translation stuff. That Hugo thing is… interesting, if really really confusing.

Can you describe it?

More details to see if I have it.

Hey, Tiamat, regarding the WuShu/Taichi case, in SF2 and SF3 series Chun Li is a WuShu fighter, right? I believe that SFZ3 bio NOT is a update of other informations. Like the Cammy bios, one of SFZ3 and other of SF2 series (Likes and Dislikes thing). And the FAQ says that WuShu and Kung Fu are the same thing, but I believe that is a wrong information.
I know that is irrelevant to the plot guide, but some Street Fighter fans should to know that.

And about the koppo info, maybe it’s only a supposition, or a not confirmed information. Buts maybe it’s official, too, because in the first SF2 Ryu and Ken style was a “mix” of karate and judo, and in the SFZ3 taekwondo are included in their art, too. But I want to know if the info about koppo is official (from the All Abouts) or not.

Er, no, I don’t believe there are any official bios that say that Chun-Li’s fighting style is wu shu to my knowledge. SF3 doesn’t have any bios at all, that’s for sure, and I didn’t hear anything about it regarding SF2.

Koppo isn’t in the All Abouts. Saiki already stated that.

Pic of Ryu with Chun-Li is drawn in extremely realistic fashion with Chun’s hand on Ryu’s chest, tears in her eyes, and her hand over her mouth. …as if she’s going to puke or something (well, okay, or not). Ryu’s expression is one of anger (and ugliness!).

Shadaloo Base pic… well, it’s very zoomed out so that all the people in it are basically stick figures. It’s a cross-section. Above ground, there’s a “Mt Rushmore” mountain with all the Shadaloo Boss’s faces carved into it (Sagat, Vega, Balrog, and M. Bison). You really can’t miss that. There’s also an arena up there. Down below is… well, a whole lot of underground base crap. It’s on an island and you can see a submarine shooting out the island into the sea down below.

Are you sure… But, for what Capcom decides to change the style of Chun Li? In the past, WuShu, now, Taichi. Strange…

And about the pic of Ryu and Chun Li, anyone can scan the picture? I’m very, very curious!

Chunli was never listed as using Wushu. I’ve never seen any official Capcom stuff in Japanese that stated Chunli using Wushu. Ever. To my knowledge, it has always been Taichi.

Oh, and the Chunli crying with Ryu looking ugly pic is very ugly. You dont want to see it

That pic Ryu and Chun Li wasn’t sent to me, so I haven’t seen it.

And yes I am curious to see it.

“The series will also be set between the Alpha and II games, with more Alpha moments being revealed in flashbacks. Continuity of the games will be followed, but since the games themselves are contradictory, liberties are taken.”

Sooooo yea, whoever was in charge of the storyline of SF2 Revival probably isn’t at Capcom anymore or something. Though then again, I suppose at least a ‘continuity of the games’ is acknowledged, as opposed to each game being within their own continuity which is what Udoneko implied. Though my guess is just that one or the other statement is right and the other one was heard wrong.

Whatever. Not that it matters, anyways, I suppose, since the Street Fighter plot might as well be dead for all we’re going to get anytime soon.

Hcparker - Sorry, the image must of not gone through last time since I sent it with a bunch of other stuff. Can you tell me your E-Mail Address again? You can list it here, PM me or E-Mail me, whatever’s more convenient for you. I’m at -

colladoa@sullcrom.com

  • and I’ll send the image to you as soon as I can.

so if hugo was in final fight that means that Andore was only in two final fight games.

Heh, heh. I know the Poll’s not reliable. Heck, I’ve voted for SF3 Ryu and SF3 Chun-Li more times than I can count! Just think it’s fun is all.

Regarding the Comic - I’ve said all I have to say so I’ll just keep my trap shut 'till the book is out.

Course, my main reason for Posting here is -

1,500 Posts!!!

I said it about Chunli basing on this part of the plot guide:
"Chun-Li’s fighting style used to be listed as WuShu. According to Eric, WuShu is a general term for Chinese Kungfu. Apparently, Capcom thought they could get away with it since Chun-Li was the only Chinese character or something (Well, there’s Lee, but he’s kinda poofed and all).
When Fei Long game around, his fighting style was called “Kungfu”, despite how they’re ironically one and the same. Later on, when more Chinese characters came around, right around the time of SF3 or so with Yun and Yang, Chun-Li’s style became Taichi, and Fei Long’s during Alpha 3 became
Hitenryu Kungfu, to further differentiate and specify things. They say her movements in SF3 are more similar to Taichi, now. As for Alpha… well, of course, her SFA3 stage has a bunch of Taichi practictioners in the background."

But, thanks, Saiki and Tiamat for the clarifications and for this great FAQ!!!
