Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

HEY! I just read that!! Udoneko has inside info! Cool! At least I can breath a sigh of releif that CFAS won’t be the only game honoring their 15th Anniversary! Unless Capcom wants to slap an SF4 label on it! NAAAA!

Still hoping the next game is SF4 but given recent statements from Capcom chances are it will be SF 2.5 or SF 3.5. Ah hell, after all this time I’d be happy to play SFA4 for crying out loud…

Saiki, what means “kakutou”? In a manga of SF2 (by Masaomi Kanzaki), the stories of Ryu, Ken, Gouken and Sagat talk “kakutou”, but I can’t read Japanese. And the fighting style of Karin is Kanzuki-ryu kakutoujutsu. Jutsu means “art”, right? What means “kakutou”?

Hey, Tiamat, and about the 3.7 version of the FAQ? Do you can view it? I can’t…

grumble grumble

I’ve tried uploading the stupid thing and I’ve tried e-mailing it to them but still nothing. Blah, stupid thing-_- Trying again

“Kanzaki-ryuu kakutoujutsu” means literally “Kanzaki school (of) fighting style”

Then kakutou means “fighting”?

I belive that after SFZ3, the SF2 Movie happens in 1990. Because the Bison of Movie is the same Bison of the game, and the stage of he is the same stage of the Movie (maybe in other country). And in the Movie, Bison not die in the end. What you think?

The thing is that if memory serves, the SF2 Movie was released in 1994, and the story is said to happen in the “near future,” least that’s what it says in the Box of the crappy U.S. version of the Movie. Personally, I’d say '94, '95, or '96 is as good a time as any, with the SF3 stuff happening around '98 or '99.

The SF2 Movie (at least the art books for it) still use the character’s birthdates, and since Cammy was born in '75 she’d be like 15 in the Movie if it took place in '90 and that’s a little TOO YOUNG. Not that SFA Shadowloo Cammy looks 16.

Hey, Tiamat, finally I’ve saw the 3.7 version!
And about the SF2Movie, I know that it has maked in 1994, but this Movie inspired Capcom to make the Zero/Alpha series, and maybe to make Final Bison too. After SFZ3, maybe we should watch the movie thinking that it is based on SFZ3. And Bison still alive in the final of the movie, like in SFZ3.
Oh, and I saw that in the SF Eternal Challenge all the story of SF and all the characters (including of EX series) are showed. Maybe Capcom of Japan wants to make the EX series be a canon universe (sure, changing a lot of things, like the death of Akuma in the hands of Kairi).

Ah. So sending it to gamefaqs as a noncorruptible zip file finally worked. Cool.

I keep hearing from random sources (but none that I can 100% be assured of) that Capcom brought the right to the SF EX characters. But I haven’t been able to confirm that. Although it wouldn’t surprise me too much, I can’t fathom what Capcom would actually DO with them at the moment. …unless some are going to be in Street Fighter 2.5 or whatever the new SF game coming is or something.

But anyways, yea, there’d be storyline info on them in Street Fighter eternal because they give the storyline info of the noncanon games, too, as far as I know.

I don’t care about EX I just want more Skullo, Doctrine Dark and Cracker Jack!

Just a note I picked up about Slammasters 2, the real name of El Stingray’s favorite attacks (there are two variations, one throw, one special done normally) are the “Screw Diver” (He actually says “Skiru Divaa”, so I assume that’s “Screw Diver”), which is his QCF+P attack, and the “Atomic Diver”, which is his Grab, then DP+Grab Super Throw.

That’s from the American/Euro version though, so I don’t know whether or not it’s actually true, but I doubt they’d retroactively change the voice from the game to fit their needs. Okay, they cut the voices of the characters for no appearant reason other than they were in Japanese (I think I still have them in a big .zip file, for anyone that would be interested in one sentence from each character of a game we’re not even sure is in SF canon), but still, I doubt they’d change the voice of one character that yells out his attack.

I also have no idea how Haggar calls his Spinning Piledriver, but I doubt it’s the Pothole Plugger.

Given the fact that the SF2 Movie recognizes the Birthdates of the characters (ignoring Art Books for it, there are birthdates of Balrog(Ninja), Mike Bison and Sagat in the Movie itself) I personally find it hard to imagine the movie happening in 1990. Even if SFZ3 took a lot of ideas from it it’s still seperate entirely from the games and the Movie is in no way official/canon whatsoever. Besides, thinking the Movie took place in '90 would mean there should be a direct Animated Sequel to the SF2 Movie representing a Tourney of sorts, but seeing as how Capcom has stated on more than one occasion they WILL NEVER make a direct Sequel to the Movie (The SF2 Anime was originally supposed to be based after the Movie, but at some point they decided to go with younger versions of the characters creating SF2V. I’ve alway suspecteed this was because Capcom themselves was working on SFZ1 at the same time and an Anime about the younger characters would get more people to buy SFZ1) I see no reason to turture myself and feel the SF2 saga in the Animes is over. It’s SF Zero’s turn now (A sequel to the SFZ Anime is in the works slated for next year) and I hope we won’t have to wait to long for an SF3 Anime!

I’m not surprised that SF EX is in that Art Book. It bears the name Street Fighter and Akira Nishitani worked on the game and he was one of SF2’s creators. Hey, AAC even includes the live Action SF Movie Game, even if it’s not official at all. If that game had artwork for it instead of live action photographs of the characters it would probably be in Art Book as well. Art is Art and doesn’t have to be official all the time. In the gallery they even got a pic (most likely will be in the book) of Guile fighting Ryu. I doubt this happened because Ryu would of beat his Ass and Guile would never confront Vega(dictator) for his ending to happen and chances are Guile’s ending did happen.

Now, if Capcom does take some SF EX characters that would be cool, as I personally feel the original cast of SF EX 1 was way better than the original cast of SF3 New Generation. Some characters like Pullum Purna, Blair, Garuda, Kairi, Hayate and Doctrine Dark I would love to play in a 2D official game!

That whole deal with Kairi killing Gouki should be left out. It’s kind of O.K. for him to kill Gouki in SF EX since Gouki has little connection to lots of the other characters in SF EX, but in official storyline that would be a BAD way for Gouki to die. They should probably keep the Doctrine Dark/Rolento deal in some shape/size/form, only because I find it hella weird that his story is very connected to Rolento and Rolento never appeared in any SF EX Games.

Hey, Tiamat…

If I remember correctly that there is still no solid evidence that Hugo is better than Alex…

other than Hugo withstanding the shinshoryuken.

Personally I’m finding it odd that Ryu does not show Hugo any respect in their SVC Dialog by calling him “useless.” Sure, it’s made by Playmore, but I thought Ryu would give Hugo some props after standing up after being hit with his Shin Shoryuken. I can only guess Ryu doesn’t respect his “oafish style?” Dunno.

Course, the whole SVC joint could take place prior to SF3, but these vs. games usually reference everything (Kyo makes a comment when he fights his double stating “How many Clones of me are there?” Clearly a nest storyline reference) with most of the stuff in their game universes happening in some shape/size/form with the exception of people dying of course.

There I go thinking way to much about an out of continuity vs. game again… and this time from another company…

He didn’t necessarily say Hugo’s fighting style was useless. He just said “Useless.” That could also mean “It’s useless to fight against me because I’m just that good.”

So, Ryu’s Trash talkin’? Could be.

I belive that the taekwondo moves of Gouki are the Dive Kick, the Short Kick and the Hurricane Kick (I know that it’s created by Goutetsu, but have a taekwondo influence), and the judo moves is the Hyakishu Throws and (maybe) the other throws, because I’m sure that these moves don’t have any relation with karate. Karate taught throws, buts maybe not the all throws that he have. And the jumping kicks of karate aren’t so complicated like Dive Kick or Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku. The Zenpou Tenshin of Akuma/Ken it’s a move from judo, and the Roundhouse Kick of Ken is a move of taekwondo too.

Does anyone know how Sakura’s shun goku satsu works in RS? Was there ever an official explanation? I was always under the impression that it was basically just a beat down while the others hold the opponent down or so, though someone else said that it was mistranslated or something.

While we’re at it, can someone confirm that it really does translate as Spring Breeze Murder and not Instant Hell Murder? I’ve been told that snowstorm of RSN claimed it was mistranslated, which I find funny since I could have sworn snowstorm was where I got the translation of the name in the first place.

Finally, snowstorm also apparently said that the “I like street fighting better than sparring in rival schools!” win quote of Sakura’s wasn’t in the Japanese version that she noticed. Weird. But alta vista isn’t working for me so I can’t check the SFA3 win quote site to confirm it’s existance in the Japanese version-_-

Eh, ah wel. Just some small stuff that isn’t really necessary, but I’d like to confirm. I have a thing for not letting snowstorm show me up :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, Tiamat, I belive that Capcom of USA don’t understand a lot of things about Akuma. Maybe Capcom of Japan said that Akuma was possessed by a demon, but in the oriental culture, it means that someone become a evil person. In Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X), I heard something about “Aoshi been possessed by the demon”, buts it means that Aoshi is becoming a evil character. Maybe Capcom of Japan tried to say about the killing intent.
