Honestly, I’ve seen at least 3 different versions for most of the Doll names. I ended up deciding that most of them were just various different-but-not-wrong ways of romancizing/interpreting/spelling/whatever-the-heck-it-is than anything. The ones I finally ended up going along with were were the ones which seemed the most popular (I think Saiki listed the current ones, though not sure. Things were so long ago after all)
Actually, though, I did have the Marz and Fevrier mispelling thingies, but keep forgetting to fix those. Eh, whatever. Fixing it this update then. As a person who’s language knowledge barely goes beyond English (right up to a big fat D- in Spanish!), I tend to forget the smaller intricacies like umlots and such.
As for what to do with Chris’s names… er, I don’t know? I guess I’ll include those too.
…dammit, it’s hard to figure out names for characters who’s names are never even remotely mentioned in the games -_-
Oh yea. My Fevrier fanart says “Guards of Vega”. Though… I thought it was a common knowledge thing that they were bodyguards of Vega, anyways? Ah well. Guess I’ll add that in, too.
Dunno what to say about Gouki killing or not killing, either, at this rate. Whatever.
Stupid question. Er… could I have the source for the Shun Goku Satsu actually literally dragging down to hell, as opposed to symbollically dragging down to hell (though… HOW one would come up with THAT term for any symbollic meaning is beyond me ) so I know what to respond to Rokiseph with about that? I’m pretty sure it’s literal (since Gen even has his own counter to that), though. AAC, I assume?
Here’s another stupid question…
Is Shin Bison called Shin Bison in All About Capcom book? Is that what he’s officialy called? If not,why do we call him Shin Bison.
Also…
Why was Cammy’s Cannon Drill changed to Spiral Arrow?
I don’t think ‘we’ call him Shin Bison. Maybe a few do… as far as I know, he doesn’t have any changed name. I refer to him as Final Bison for gameplay reasons (but never for storyline ones) but that’s not an official name.
Dunno about Cammy’s spiral arrow / cannon drill. Never could figure that one out She says canon drill in MvC2, but Spiral Arrow in SFA3. Mweh?
If memory serves, Shin Vega (Dictator) is listed seperately from regular Vega in AAC, just like Satsui No Hado Ryu and Ryu are listed seperately. AAC works with the names the characters have in games.
But… he’s not named Shin Vega in the game. Heck, off the bat (as opposed to after he wastes you with his Psycho Crusher), the only way to know you’re fighting against the boss version of Bison instead of the normal one is to see if he’s in Shadaloo-Ism or not, unless the Japanese version is different in this regard (though I doubt it is)
I think it’s kind of like how Satsui No Hado Ryu is always called Ryu in the games in Japan but never Evil Ryu in the games just Ryu, but AAC recognizes that he’s a different character in the game “gameplay wise” so his stats are listed seperatley. So, I think Shin Vega (if he’s even called that in Japan) name just reads Vega when you fight him in SFZ3 but AAC acknowledges him as a different character. I’ll double check this in AAC when I have time.
Double checked AAC. Shin Vega (Dictator) is on page 335 and is only credited for being in SFZ3. Even my non Japanese reading self can tell that it’s him with the words “CPU” and “S-ISM” written in his Bio in English.
Regular Vega (Dictator, again) is on page 338 and his credits include all the SF2 games, all SFZ games (even SFZ3 once again), all EX games (minus EX 3 that came after AAC), all vs. games (he shows up in Chun-Li’s MVC1 ending, and this book came out before the CVS games so minus those) and his Pocket Fighter backgound cameo.
He appears one more time in AAC. An appearance so dreadful that it must of made Japanese Gamers piss in their pants. RUN AND HIDE YOUR CHILDREN AS THE FEAR INDUCING RAUL JULIA APPEARS UNDER THE NAME “BISON” FOR THE SF2 MOVIE GAME ON PAGE 332!!!
Sorry, couldn’t resist! May Raul Julia rest in peace.
Sieg - Glad you answered. It would of taken me a long time to translate the kanji for his name, and there’s a 99.9% chance I still would of been wrong!
Tiamatroar - Looks like your name “Final Bison” was right all along!
I’m still trying to figure out where I initially got the name, Final Bison, from. I know I didn’t make it up. Maybe from a FAQ or something.
Sieg, your hotmail account says it’s full. Do you want me to send you the latest version of the plotguide to your yahoo address? Oh wait… oops, I already did that, but I’ve updated it slightly since then. Er… yea
Long time no see, guys. Damn, I haven’t been here in ages. I honestly didn’t think this thread still existed, but it’s cool to see that it’s still running strong. So how is everybody? Tiamat, I see yer still workin’ on the plot FAQ. Very cool. I saw yer website as well. I checked out the SF Fanfics board and I aint surprised that those idiots still doubt yer FAQ for whatever reason. Well, whatever. I’m sure I’ve missed out on a lot, but you’ll see me around on this thread a lot more often. Peace for now.
Eeep! You found my website? Heh, that poor outdated thing is almost embarassing. Poor neglected website.
Wow, which SF fanfic board is that? But by now, we’re all pretty much starting to get used to that, anyways.
The new SF comic has the creators saying they’ll be working closely with Capcom to stay true to the story. They also say that eventually every character will be (or will have been) in it. Wonder how close and true to the story it’ll be. Will be funny to see if Mike is there and if he changes his name to Balrog or not later on.
Hey, Tiamatroar! In the Fighting Game Discussion Thread you can talk to Studio Udon In the Sticky Thread called, “Hello & Thanks from UDON!” Hell, over there I asked and they said they READ YOUR PLOT GUIDE!!!
Hey, do any of you guys have a problem with Erik Ko from Udon dropping in once in a while to ask questions about the canon? I told him about this thread, but somebody objected.
