Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

That’s only in the US version. Gouki actually remarks, “You! You’re Gouken’s…!”, and Ryu gets this strange but familiar feeling in him when he sees Gouki (Satsui no Hado), whom he’s never met in person before.

Ummm, are you sure about that? Because after you see the submarine spot Gouki underwater, and then the radio communications getting cut off on the ship above, you only see a single ship that’s already afloat, not one that’s shot up.

But if it’s in AAC, then I’ll stand corrected.

GF2 is right, Gouki recognizes Ryu but not the other way around.

I don’t remember if the sequence is rapid in the game, but AAC shows all frames of the ship popping up. It’s a dark greenish colour, certainly not the same as the regular rust/blue/white ship we see two frames earlier. You actually see a small part come up first, then larger pieces. And I think that, for dramatic reasons, the speech onboard the ship would have been cut off had Gouki actually hit it.

Unless you’re counting Goutetsu and Gouken, I think we need to look for better evidence for Gouki’s supposed evil.

Beat Third Stike with Gouki last night. From what I can tell, the Submarine approaches the large boat which Gouki rises with his Ki while standing on it. The people scream “AAHHH” or whatever, and Gouki’s move destroys the boat he’s standing on. Doesn’t straight up imply that the Submarine was destroyed from this (it’s underwater, so who knows?) so without confirmation I can’t really assume that the people on the Submarine were killed. I’m leaning towards that they lived, myself.

Checked Second Impact, as well. Looks like he splits the mountain, not destroying it so this probably wouldn’t hurt anybody, unless it makes a boulder fall on top of you or something. Not as devastating as destroying the mountain.

I got one of the Gamest Mooks for SFZ3. Of course, I can’t read Japanese worth a lick, but Masahiko Nakahira drew the cover with Ryu and Ken throwing Hadokens at each other while Sakura and Kairen pose and the inside has more artwork from said artist like Kairen (who he created) in a bikini and in outer space. Got it for the artwork, obviously.

The submarine is examining the wreck from a distance (it’s what lights up the scene) when Gouki starts his move.

Masahiko Nakahira fans! Over at Mad Man’s Cafe, Dash No Chris let us know about Nakahira’s new SVC Manga story, a Sakura Gambaru sequel! In it, she throws down with Kyo! Also features Karin and Shingo. Ryu and Gouki only appear in a few panels as Karin explains Ansatsuken to Shingo while Kyo and Sakura fight! I couldn’t find this book anywhere in New York City since the place where I got all of Nakahira’s Mangas shut down - Asahiya on 45th and Vanderbelt, (sob, sob) but Dash gave me all the info so I can special order it from Kinokuniya on 49th and Rockefeller! Yeah, they didn’t have the book either. The Sakura story is like 30 or so pages as there are other Mangas in the book. Well, here’s the info you’ll need to order it and if you want more info, head over to Mad Man’s Cafe, go to the Bulletin Board and the Thread entitled “Nakahira’s new CAPCOM vs. SNK manga story!”

What do you mean by “shura”; what’s this? Also, he saved a child? Why would he do that?

I’ve seen an “official” art of Gouki selling(?) fruit to some kid, is that a joke? Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

Yeah, I know what you’re talking about.

The pic was drawn by Bengus, and was a parody or a play on the SF2 anime movie.

In the SF2 anime movie, there’s a frame that Akuma appears in, in which he is sitting down (in India) near a wall, with a basket of food sitting in front of him (its kinda hard to see him the VHS tape if you have a small TV, or a large frame on your TV)

Bengus did alotta crazy with that set of pics, which were drawn for/during SFA2.

The set includes

Ryu (front shot of him just standing there)
Sakura (smiling and punching straight foward)
Chun Li (in her Alpha outfit with her top off)
Rose (in her fortune tellers dress holding a card in hand)
Rose (spinning Bison’s hat on her fingertip)
Young Sagat (with hair, one blind eye, and Go Hibiki in hand)
Akuma and Kid (SF2 anime parody)
Retsu and Dan (showing part of Dan’s past at Gouken’s dojo)
Guy and Cody (shows Guy hanging upside down and Cody in the doorway)
Charlie and Guile (back to back)
Bison and Rose (shows Bison sticking his hand into Rose)
Adon and Eagle (standing back to back)
Ken and Eliza (Eliza tying back the red band in Ken’s hair)
Sagat, Vega, Balrog (all shoulder up shots of the sub bosses from SF2)

There are more, but I cant remember what other ones are, but Im sure some of you guys out there know the other ones.

Oh and Sano I got the older Sakura picture, thnx.

sano - do you know how much that SVC manga costs to special order from Kinokuniya? I work at 55th and 5th, which is just a few blocks from Rockefeller Plaza and might stop by to order it. Also, do you know if that store also has the first Sakura Gambura and Ryu Final? If not, could I order those as well - and about what price range are these items? Thanks for any help you can provide!

TAS - You’re welcome!

Golden Hell -To order the Manga with Sakura vs. Kyo, I had to put a deposit for 15.21 to get it sent to me Airmail in 4 weeks. If you want to get it sent through the mail regularly I was told that it’s 2 dollars less and you’ll get it in 2 months. I’m not sure if the deposit is the actual price, but if you consider it’s 880 yen plus tax, shipping and handling it sounds about right. When it comes to SF, I turn into a raving fan boy and stop thinking about money so I didn’t ask…

In case you don’t know, they also have some pretty good books upstairs. Not so long ago, they had “All About Capcom” and “All About SNK.” I’m not sure if they still have those books, but last I checked they had 2 SNK Illustration books (the All About ones) and an SNK Poster Book. I got all these books in the past minus the SNK Poster Book since I’m not that big a fan of SNK art.

Getting Masahiko Nakahira’s other Mangas is really hard since the company that put them out went out of business. I brought these books when they were more or less new a while back. If you want, I’ll give you their ISBN #s tomorrow and you can try to order them. Don’t know what this would cost but asking never hurts.

From Cain Highwind over at Mad Man’s Cafe, here’s a bunch of images for SNK vs. Capcom for the Neo Geo Pocket that never made it into the U.S.

Thanks for the info, sano!

I’ll probably stop by tomorrow during my lunch break or after work and see what SF goodies that store might have.

Random - Just got the Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) Reflection DVD! The Subtitles are a lot better than the bootleg so the story makes a lot more sense! It’s got interviews with my 2 favorite voice actors, Yuji Ueda and Miki Fujitani! And in the production sketches, there’s a sketch of the Kenshin clan as older Megumi stands next to older Sanosuke and checks him out! Though it’ll never get animated, there’s still hope for these two hooking up! “Give me Smile and Shine Days!”

Well, it’s not completely SF unrelated, as Yuji Ueda has provided the voices for MVC’s Jin Saotome, SFA3’s Balrog (the ninja) and Blanka and Guilty Gear’s Zappa! And Miki Fujitani did the voice for Chun-Li in the SF2 Animated Movie!

Back on topic - Here’s the ISBN#s for all of Masahiko Nakahira’s SF Manga. Not sure it will help anyone find these books since the Co. that put them out no longer exists, but it’s a good place to start! I’m hoping with Street Fighter comics being made in the U.S. soon and the new Sakura Manga story, someone will take interest in releasing these books again possibly in English because no one atrist has had more influesce on SF than Masahiko Nakahira. I’m skipping the Cammy Manga since that was released in the U.S. and is easy to find.

Everyone can start cheering because in the newest issue of Wizard “the comic book magzine” thye have confirmed that some comoany named UDON had bought the rights to bring Street Fighter to comics. And it comes out this summer. Hopefully they will take information from Capcom Japan and not Capcom U.S.A.
Well that’s all for now. Keep up the good news on this thread. Holla!!!

Go against us and you DIE!!!..Simple as that

You guys once said that Guile/Charlie’s Sonic Boom is the fastest traveling projectile. But what about the Shinku and Dejin Hadoukens? Isn’t these two faster?

If I remember correctly the Shinku Hadoken isn’t that fast. Even in the games.

also we need our table of contents back up when someone gets a chance.

Siegfried: Just beat 3S again with Akuma. I saw the same thing you described in AAC, so I haven’t been paying enough attention. I was wrong all along! And I can’t believe that if there was anyone else who didn’t make note of that error, it’d be Saiki! Sheisen!

The Dejin Hadouken moves quite fast game wise (the shinku dosnt) but what’s represented in the games or in gameplay isnt always Canon.

If it was lots a gameplay elements would be diffrient, and characters would handle completely diffrient, like for example if the character could play the way they’re supposed to according to the Canon, someone like Ryu (in the Alpha games) could transform into Evil Ryu at anytime during gameplay.

Really characters like the ones who were in SF2 were only modified over time, and alot of the Canon info was added to their characters overtime, but Capcom would never change the way the chars played, because it would change what people/fans/players are used to, except for the time they made Guile really weak in SFA3, which upset/offput many fans/players.

Suprisingly enough, director Yasuhiro Imagawa actually mentions SF2 on the fourth “Mobile Fighter G Gundam” 4th DVD, although not in a way you’d think, since this Anime is like basically SF2+Gundam. It also kicked off the whole Gundam Alternate reality storylines. Anyway, here’s what Yasuhiro Imagawa said when asked where the name of Sai Saici’s “Chokyu Haoh Den’eidan” came from.

“Chokyu Haoh Den’eidan” was taken out of the film version title name of the Super School Fighters II made in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, it is called Chokyu Gaitoh Haoh, which is the Chinese version of Street Fighter II. At the beginning, the film was produced with the title and content as a work faithful to the original game. However, because the game’s production company Capcom had an exclusive contract with publisher Jade Man Comics, other companies were unable to use the Street Fighter II name. Because of this, even though the film production was already started, the film’s setting had to be changed. So, it was changed into a school fight and thus, the film was renamed and completed as Chiaou-Chi Xie-Xiau Pa-Wang (Super School Fighters)."

The rest of his answer went on to explain where “Den’eidan” came from, but it’s not relevant to SF at all. Well, not that this post is that relevant to SF storylines…

I just spoke with Chris from Dashtaisen and our Doll names are misromanized (is that a word? Guess it is now).

-Enero (the same)

He did more research than we apparently bothered to do. He also called them “Vega Shin’eitai” [Vega Bodyguard Troops].
