Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

I got All About SFZ3 and All About Vampire Savior today.

Weird though, AASFZ3 says that it was ? years between Zero 2 and Zero 3, and then 3-4 years until SF2 and then 3-4 years? until SF3…
I thought these guys would know exactly…

Oh, oops. Just All-Stars instead of Fighting All-Stars? I tend to miss the specifics of names when I’m in a rush, I guess. Too bad, though. Lord knows that CFAS’s roster is too pitifully small as it is as of last official news hearing…

I think that AASFZ3 not havint the exact date might be due to the same reason SF3 Akuma’s ending says 199X instead of 1998? Maybe Capcom just doesn’t know what the hell it’s doing for dates until quite a while after the games are released or something.

All-Stars is going to have a good line up of characters but story wise it’s going to be like cvs2 I think but it is just capcom doing it this time it could be different.

I don’t know, Capcom + 3D equals wackness.

Question.

What exactly happens to Sakura after the alpha series???

Your right 3d capcom fighting games aren’t that great in graphics I never am impressed with them but maybe the reason they put the game on hold was because they wanted to change that flaw.
As for Sakara she goes into ex sf series and she’s in college I believe but she seems to have lost most of drive to test Ryu by then after facing him like twice during the alpha series.

I think one of the main problems is no one takes Capcom 3D seriously, take Project Justice for example. They can achieve so much more in 2D, I don’t know why they would waste their time on a 3d fighter.

Shame about Sakura. She was one of my favorite Alpha series characters. Then they threw her into that garbage known as EX.

your right project justice, or even rival schools wwould have been a best seller in 2d in stead of 3d. I think capcom is a 2d fighting game company and a 3d rpg and action.
Sakura was terrible in 3d I think but still had the basic look.

True. Games like Resident evil and Devil May Cry are great.

I really think they need to continue the street fighter series with some possible off-shoots from 3rd strike, like the other street fighter characters that weren’t included in third strike itself.

Sakura is travelling around the world still fighting, but unless she gets a trainer she’s not gonna get all that much stronger. - Something Saiki said long ago.

The unnoficial Vs. Games conjecture that she gave up fighting/started a family/went to college.

Sakura’s not showing up in anymore games that progress the storyline. They would have to age her and she’d have to be wearing either sweats or a gi, and she would no longer show her panties when she kicks, loosing the High School Uniform. This would tick off to many of her fans, especially the Japanese ones, so she’ll probably remain in the non canon vs. games where she could stay frozen at 16 forever.

Sakura’s SFEX story is not Canon, although I dont even think she had a story in SFEX, since they only threw her in the final instalment of the first game Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha (plus a is due to Sakura’s inclusion) because Capcom asked ARIKA (the company that made SFEX) to include Sakura, because she was such a fan favorite.

Another thing about an older Sakura (I copied this from the fan art forum)

Now the only way I can/could see Capcom getting away with an older Sakura (look wise) is by making her look more mature and sexy, kinda like SNK’s Mai, which I took into consideration when drawing the above.

Now I dont understand what everyone’s big gripe is with Capcom’s 3D fighters, cause

  1. They DID NOT make Street Fighter EX, ARIKA did.

  2. Rival Schools and/or Project Justice problay wouldnt of done good, nor developed a fanbase in a 2D format, cause it no doubt wouldve just been considered a SF knock off, and wouldve never developed of fan base nor sequels, if it were 2D.

  3. Power Stone 1 & 2 were SUPER successful both here and in Japan, and a third game is on the drawing board.

  4. 2D Fighters wont last forever, they’re already getting to the point were they cant be improved upon, because you can only push 2D so far. Like for instance if SF4 is 2D it will blow away the Guilty Gear games in terms of animation, but that will be as far as 2D can be pushed, since they (Capcom) are working with the same technology animation studios (like Madhouse) work with.

What game on hold? Capcom Fighting All Stars? That didnt get put on hold, it was rumored to be canceled, but that proved to be false.

I could be wrong, but I dont think Capcom has any 3D RPGs, cause all the Breath Of Fire games are 2D, and BOF is the only RPG(s) that I know of the Capcom has made, but there could be others, but none are coming to mind.

There have only been two things that have been shown as her future or possible future are

(One of) Elena’s SF3 endings shows Sakura (and her friend Kei) at Elena’s college.

In Sakura’s Marvel vs Street Fighter ending it shows that she has a kid, although the ending showing Apocalypse and Cyber Akuma makes in non-canon, but it could be foreshadowing on Capcom’s part.

So in short, Sakura goes to college, and possibly starts a family after the Alpha games.

No it doesn’t.
BTW, Elena doesn’t go to college, she goes to high school.

I couldve sworn someone told me that Sakura and Kei show up in one of the SF3 endings, and I thought it was Elean’s ending.

So Sakura and Kei arent in any of the SF3 endings?

AHH! I hate it when I get misinformed about stuff!

The deal with Sakura going to college is from her CVS2 ending. I think she says something like, “I have to work hard to go to College” or something like that. Not canon.

Elena goes to the same High School Sakura attended, that’s why their school uniforms are similar. But Sakura most likely long since graduated by the time Elena’s enrolled. Not 100% sure it’s the same exact High School but that’s what I heard.

Sakura’s appearance in SF EX doesn’t seem to hurt anything, Since SF EX is not connected to the regular storyline. Sakura may well be 16 in that reality. Although, she does appear in EX Plus Alpha and EX 3, two games that don’t seem to advance the storylone all that much, especially considering that EX 3 has no new characters.

Oh, and the SF3 series already does have better Animation than the Guilty Gear series. (The way the characters move is more fluid.) But the Animation in Guilty Gear is also very good and the game’s backgrounds and graphics have a lot going for it so you really have to pay attention to notice.

I don’t think the Animation in Guilty Gear is good at all, I think CvS is way more better.

But Guilty Gear design seems to appeal to the public than SF.

I see alot of lights in Guilty Gear which hides their jerky movements. Unlike CvS less flash see.

Since the cast of CFAS gets trashed here/there/everywhere, I’ll attempt to defend it and explain why I like the cast.

Granted, it’s not a true All Star game, but I don’t know what else Capcom should call it. If Capcom made a true All Star game, it’s critics would say, “They just used the MVC2 Capcom cast members (All all stars 'cept for the newbies) and put them in 3D adding Dante and Samanosuke.” Think of it from their perspective. If they did this the hard core fans would buy it, but the hard core fans will buy it no matter what. So, what I feel Capcom is doing is going through their casts and coming up with a diverse/interesting line up to appeal to the non Capcom junkie, (the one that doesn’t post on SRK) which is why it’s 3D instead of 2D. It’s obviously going for the Tekken/Virtua Fighter crowd that long since abandoned 2D.

Let’s look at the cast, except for the newbies.

RYU - He started the Fighting Game franchise and is the main Shoto. Also repping for Karate, and most fighters have at least one that reps for Karate.
CHUN-LI - The first woman fighting character. Repping for Kung-Fu.
NASH - Guile’s more popular in the U.S., but Nash is more popular in Japan. Since he is officially dead he’s doomed to only appear in out of continuity games, so don’t expect Capcom to pass up another oppurtunity to stick him in. Military rep, and good for people who like to play "Guile Style."
HAGGAR - Guy and Cody had their shot in the Alphas, now it’s Haggar’s turn. A more interesting choice than Zangief, IMHO.
BATSU - Another Shoto, will most likely play like Ken. Star of Rival Schools.
AKIRA - Of all the half naked bimbos in Capcom’s camp, it’s great to see no nonsense Akira show up!
ALEX - THE FREAKING STAR OF SF3 RETURNS! JUST THINK, ALEX VS. HAGGAR - CAPCOM’S FIRST GRAPPLER VS. IT’S LAST!!!
POISON - Perhaps she’ll attract the horny undersexed Dead or Alive fans, and in the U.S. they probably won’t know she was a he! Ha!
STRIDER - The oddest choice, since the only fighting games he appeared in is the MVC series that featured characters like Megaman and Jill. But unlike those characters at least Strider “fights” in his games. Megaman shoots and Jill runs away and then shoots. Most fighters have a ninja and Strider was very popular in the MVC series. Personally, I think he’s a much more interesting choice than Capcom using Balrog(Ninja) or Guy.

If you’re gonna defend CFAS, do it right.

Batsu is not a shoto… His only similarity to Ryu is his fireball.

and FYI, I want CFAS. 'coz as long as it’s Capcom fighter I’ll play it.

(Hey I’m not a capcom fan, just want Capcom diversity in Fighting Games)

I’m saying maybe he’ll play like Ken this time around.

Well, Poison had Shoto moves in FFR, but I think this Poison will play completly different.

When I say Shoto, I don’t mean Shotokan Karate which none of these characters use. I’m talking about the Dragon Punch, fireball controls of the joystick.

If you are gonna say something about characters… Say it clearly. Saying a character is a shoto automatically tells people that it’s a ryu rip-off, which Batsu is not.

Sorry this is not a flame, just pointing out points.
