Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Hcparker: re: voices

wut.

As for the clones, I don’t get the “no so serious” bit.

Lord Vega:

No, these are new. Developed after SFA3, but before SF2. They’re not pseudo-clones like Cammy or dna-enhanced beings like the dolls, they’re full clones, complete with memories (though apparently some were developed with physical differences, since they don’t all look identical). They were thought to have all been destroyed post-SF2, but it’s obvious some activated. The only question is how many activated. We know of three, but it’s possible others are out there (hence Viper’s statement in her ending; she’s tracking them down to make sure they’re all eliminated).

I’ll add whatever’s not included on the marquee lists and go from there. BTW couple of notes when reading the official move lists:

-black arrows mean tap, white ones mean hold (for two seconds usually)
-EX-able moves need more than a quarter of a super gauge full to execute
-stars next to moves indicate “armor break” capabilities
-directions are for listed for facing right

Order of moves will be as follows: basic throws, characteristic moves, saving attack (the final characteristic move), target combo (when there is one), appeal, sure-killing moves, super, ultra.

Ultima, if the VA’s are who people said they are (Chris Sabat and company) then I’m not buying the game, simple as that. I can’t stand Sabat and his 3 pack a day, hacking wheezing voice. he’s one of the worst people I’ve ever heard trying to be a VA. And I refuse to pay money to listen to him mangle Guile’s voice and personality with his shitty performance.

RE: the clones, you said there are three in the game thus far. Well one is stated outright, the second is a bit more obvious. The third is the one I was referring to as being the less then serious one given what we know about that particular character.

Thanks. Very informative post.

You’re welcome Commander. Excellent sig BTW.:woot:

Hcparker:

re: voices

Well it’s your money, but that’s pretty retarded to miss out on a game in a series you enjoy because you don’t like a couple voice actors. That’s been stupidly excessively nitpicky.

There’s the possibility that JPN voices will still be included (Ono stated he would have like you to be able to select voice per character), so don’t give up just yet.

> RE: the clones, you said there are three in the game thus far. Well one is stated outright, the second is a bit more obvious. The third is the one I was referring to as being the less then serious one given what we know about that particular character.

I still don’t get what you mean by “serious”. They’re all serious, just that one is… damaged. At this point I’m not even sure if we’re talking about the same character.

Ultimate ignorance.

PM Az and ask him about this stuff. He and I go way back when it comes to dealing with Sabat and company.

It maybe a nitpick to you but I’m shelling out the $70+ for a collectors edition of the game unless its worth collecting. Having some of the worst people in the industry handle the dub is a valid reason for me not to waste money on a company that obviously doesn’t care.

As far as the JPN soundtrack, whoop de fraggle rock do. I don’t care about the Japanese soundtrack. I want an English Dub done by professionals who don’t suck which would be everyone else but Herbet and Sabat.

RE: we’re probably not talking about the same clone thoug. Seth is one, Abel is obviously two. So I guess we disagree about who #3 is. I think it’s Rufus but that’s just me.

Couple of notes on normals for the veterans thus far. Majority of them are from Super X and Revival arsenals. Exceptions:

Ken’s fumikomi maegeri and shiden kakato otoshi are from 3S. Thought his ultra should be renamed to jinrai shinryuken; I’m seeing the shipuu jinrai kyaku towards the beginning.

Chun-Li’s kirinshuu and kakusenshuu are from CvS2.

Ryu’s and are straight Super X/Revival. Guile’s chopping straight is new and Guile high kick I’m assuming is a rename of his Super X move addition. Especially his close HK seems to change names depending how high his rank is.

This would be my dream english dub cast

1 David Lucas as Ken Masters

3 Carl Lumbly as Dhalsim

4 Ron Perlman As Able

What’s your opinion on the SFIV logo. I think it’s acceptable but rather lame. They never managed to top their SFII logo (see banner on top). McGinty’s SSFII airbrush logo coming through the wall was my second favorite and SFZ2 is next.

Hmm, he also said CEO before that page, and that’s what Seth’s bio says as well. Did he mean he’s also president, or he just mentioned president as a synonym to CEO? Rats, wishing there was an audio version of the interview. The clues to his origin are in his win quotes eh? People gotta start losing to him now.

Wonder if it’s the same case with learning about Vega…:wonder:

I agree. It’s okay but it just doesn’t jump out at me like all the others do.

CEO which stands for chief executive officer can either be the president or the chairman of the board.

That would be interesting…
Pity the US version probably will change it…

OK, so synonym. Cool. Thanks Sagatryu.

> Ultimate ignorance.

LOL. Look who’s still butthurt because SFIV doesn’t belong to the Street Fighter that exists in his mind. Watch out for the Alpha characters in the home version!

HCparker:

> It maybe a nitpick to you but I’m shelling out the $70+ for a collectors edition of the game unless its worth collecting.

I’m assuming there’s a “not” missing here. So… why are you forced to get the collector’s edition? How about the regular edition? Or wait and pick up the game second hand?

> Having some of the worst people in the industry handle the dub is a valid reason for me not to waste money on a company that obviously doesn’t care.

No, they’re just not picky. From what little I’ve heard, the SFIV dub sounds… okay. Ryu’s a little dull, but not terrible. The thing is, the dub is likely to attract more players than they would without it (sad but true). Moreover, there are diminishing returns on a game like this. Hiring “quality” voices actors (and by that, I’m just simply limiting it to voice actors you don’t hate) will probably cost a lot more for very little reward. There’s not enough spoken speech to make it a priority; in fact, I’m surprised they’re even bothering with dubbing at all.

I wasn’t talking about the soundtrack, I was talking about the voices. Ono said he wanted players to be able to select each character’s voice individually (e.g. JPN for Ryu, english for Ken, etc).

And yes to Seth and Abel being clones. But er, I would have thought the 3rd would be obvious: Bison.

vaili10:

Good stuff. Going through the list now.

Okay, gone over SFIV commands list. Some notes/corrections/queries:

Guile:

  • Chopping Straight is a new move (an overhead punch). I have no idea what his Guile High Kick is.
  • Flying Mare = Flying Major

El Furete:

  • Sky Soul Bracer Trap: “Soul Bracer”, besides being wrong, (it’s Pu, not Bu), is one word. Best I can come up with is “Suppressor” (also sometimes spelled “suppresser”), so it could be “Sky Suppressor Trap”.
  • Caramale = Calamare (also spelled Calamari).

Rufus:

  • Head Buzzcut = Head Bazooka
  • Grolly Kick = Glory Kick
  • Spectacular Romance = Spectacle Romance
  • You have a translation for jatotsu by any chance?

Once again, thanks.

I see your points on Rufus (wow how did I mess up the head bazooka?:looney:), and okay Guile’s chopping straight is brand new, and I’ll fix those.

Unfortunately there’s a separate spelling for “major” used in Guile’s basic kicks arsenal, so together with an existing animal reference the dragon suplex, flying mare stays.

For El Fuerte, yeah you’re right it’s not “bu” but “pu”, however the beginning is “soru”, not “sa” or “su”. So the second half is presser, but the first could be soul, sol for sun, or sole, or just “soru” for “bending”. What’s the move like? Does it involve locking the feet? Is it a thoroughly aerial maneuver? Does it turn the victim into a pretzel? Since sky is already part of the name and it’s in katakana, I’m vouching for sol until I learn more about the move.

Yeah it could be calamari if using say “curry” as your precedent, but keeping with the regional cuisine vocab his arsenal has thus far, and caramale is such a dessert, I’m sticking with that. Besides, the ending is “re” not “ri”, and caramale is also a more phonetic match.

Jatotsu means snake/serpent thrust/stab. I previously said it was a serpent thrusting since ja mainly refers to serpents or large snakes.

Thanks Ultima.

Feilong and Dan Confirm for the home version

Edit: Fully animated prologues and endings for the home verison = dubbing. So the dubbing isn’t just for pre fight intros and post fight outros.
