Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

I’m kinda surprised that I’m not much into this Guile issue.

I already accepted (slightly) that SFA3 Nash is better than SF2 Guile.

Why?

It’s a simple marketing strategy. Capcom cannot market a lame clone. It’s the same reason why we have Akuma and Kairi.

There’s no more potential when a person is dead.

Charlie is dead, therefore

Charlie = no more potential.

Unless Capcom uses the almighty power of the thing called RETROACTIVE CONTINUITY and decides to ressurect him.

The only way we can judge how Guile has improved since SF2 is if he shows up in the next incarnation of SF (which is SF4 most likely).

Wait a minute. Can we please establish some Guile related facts first.

  1. Guile is lame storylinewise in SFA3
  2. He got better in SF2
  3. We don’t know if SF2 Guile is better than SFA3 Nash
  4. Ryu didn’t win SF2 (otherwise Capcom should have stated it)

I agree that Guile is the more efficient fighter.

Nash couldn’t do Guile’s defy-the-laws-of-physics forward roundhouse flip.
Guile’s brawler status is attributed to his SF2V incarnation, which is non-canon.
Nash may be flashier, but that doesn’t mean that he’s more agile. Nor does his built would automatically suggest that. Remy is way too slim, but he’s damn slow.
If we study both Guile’s and Nash’s sprites, it’s hard to tell which one is more agile. We might as well forget this issue.

Yeah, Ryu couldn’t of won the SF2 Tourney because if he did, he would of already had his rematch with Sagat, and according to Sagat’s SF2 Revival ending that hasn’t gone down yet. Just my guess.

It’s been a minute since I played SFA3,with my PS2 across the city, so I could be wrong. But if memory serves correctly, Guile in Alpha has the exact same forward as Charlie. Said upside-down kick is after his training, in his SF2 incarnation. I stand by my statement. Guile in Alpha = runt brawler. Guile in SF2 = seasoned fighter.

Yeah, I think Guile has pretty much consummated his story for the time being. I wonder if we’ll see Charlie again. But he’s sort of accomplished his goal too.
I wish Capcom would make SF4 and clear some crap up.

Clay- I’ve been OK. I hope you’ve been alright as well.

Concerning the Gen+Gouki ending in SFZ2.
The stuff in the brackets are stuff being said in the head by that character.

Gen - "…this is the end, just finishe me off.(Good…come closer to me. Feel my final desperation hit!)…What?!
Gen - “Dam…he knew, he had only left his presence behind.”

Gouki - “Worthy opponents who challenge me…This world is still has many more to be found. It makes it more worthy for I, who fights to purify my fists. Will it be I, or him, that will die next…Hmph…hahahaha!”

And regarding Guile and Nash. Yes, I personally think that Nash is better than Guile, even though Nash is dead. I’ll point out why. Capcom has flat out said that Nash is one of the fighters in SF that has the top potentials with Ki manipulation. His potential is right up there with Ryu, Sagat, Sakura, etc. He is a very calm fighter and is not as flashy as people think. Also, he has learned martial arts from when he was very young. Capcom hasn’t said what though. Although they have said that Nash knows quite a bit of holds and locks as well as having very powerful kicks.
With Guile, yes, he has more physical strength than Nash in SF2. But he doesn’t have the skills so that he can use his strength to its full potential. He has alot of wasted strength and effort. He does not have that much more experience in terms of fighting compared to his SFZ3 self. During the time form SFZ3 to SF2, Guile mainly trained on learning the Sonic Boom. And he finally learned it a little while before the SF2 tournament.
And concerning Sonic Booms, Guile can only throw it when he puts everything he has into it. Nash can throw it anytime, with his arm, leg, knee, elbow.
These are pretty much the reasons why I still rank Nash higher than SF2 Guile.

 Is that the correct, unedited Japanese version of Gouki’s SFA2 ending??? Then I’ve been fooled by Capcom of USA for the last time!!!

Wishful thinking, they’ll find something ELSE to screw up.

That bit about Nash being able to throw sonic booms from any limb is pretty interesting. It explains why in his ‘Sonic Break’ super at level three he ‘throws’ the final boom from his foot.

Saiki: what do Oro’s, Remy’s and Ibuki’s ki attacks feel like?

I have an animated gif of Guile (in his SFA3 sprite) doing the defy-the-laws-of-physics kick.

If Saiki listed those projectiles right, then the Psycho Shot must be the most powerful, storylinewise. . . Or is it?

Just got down from tonsilitis, so I couldn’t reply. . . Don’t worry, you won’t catch it by reading my posts!!!

It’s just a marketing strategy to make Nash popular IMO. Too bad he wasn’t able to achieve even a fraction of Guile’s popularity.

Saiki pretty much gave a good arguement there.

If I remember Guile has a different standing roundhouse, compared to Nash’s standing roundhouse.

We could also compare both of their c.fp animation

Nash’s is a little slower, while Guile is a tad bit faster.

Same with both of their backfist.

Well, I don’t consider bursts of sonic booms a good manifestation of chi manipulation as compared to a one-shot, semi screen size buzzsaw super.

That’s just me.

Have you seen Capcom all stars?

It has a storyline…

Maybe we’ll find somethin’ out right?

NIce point you have there.

Nash’s backfist is waaaaaaaaaaaay too slow.

Nash’s crouching FP is also slow.

So where the heck did the idea that Nash is more agile come from?

Agent Guile is right… Sonic Hurricane is way much better than Sonic Barrage.

Maybe Guile learned that Charlie’s sonic barrage is a waste of energy.

They should have a storyline explaining why Guile isn’t in that game.:mad:

Because Charlie wasn’t following Bison.

“Death” seems to be the main villain.

D. D. seems to be the main Character.

DD goddess of thunder, same with Poison being a woman.

I just hate Capcom usage of Poison. She’s so damn sexy in all stars.

Yeah, he does have that kick in Z3, and yes, it is amazing.

Relax… why do you care so much?

Look at his Somersault kick. He’s very flexible and very athletic.

Yes, because, in the end, that’s all we care about.
Relax again.

Man, this last page reeks of so much Guile fan-boyism. You guys like Guile, I prefer Nash. That’s cool, so just let it go.
