It’s a costume ball, does make sence to me. Maybe not that they’re dressed as those characters, but that they are dressed as “some” characters, in this case they are all Capcom charas.
Hum, can anyone tell me where that Guile picture is from?
I’ve never seen it before.

And Vasili, what does that site say about it? It’s under the ??? section.
Thanks
Aerial Groove
Even though it’s a costume ball, that’s not the character itself. It’s a mere appearance.
It’s from Secrets Of The Hado(u)ken, a smart way to show Guile and Nash together, before he had an official look. That’s where I know it from and where Red Cyclone has it from. I think vasili10 said it’s from a manga originally, I could be wrong though. The book has more of that kind, gonna scan em someday.
ryo’s description says it’s from a manga within a gaming magazine, but Hadouken no Nazo has it as well. The rest of his paragraph points out that Guile’s pal Nash was mentioned often during the SF2-era but never seen, so this was one artist’s representation, albeit from a torn photograph, and apparently liked by Capcom and/or Gamest back then, since it and other similarly drawn pics appeared in HnN. ryo told me long ago that the magazine it featured in was Marukatsu Super Famicom.
Here are the newest four bios from CJ’s SF4 site. With the exception of Vega’s, hardly any further developments for them since SF2. Some interesting choices of terms though, Shadaloo the secret society, eerie secret maneuver, anyway.
M.Bison- Roaring Strong Arm
The boxer who was banned from the boxing world due to a dangerous fight style. Accepting a large amount of monetary reward, he became Vega’s close associate. Together with Shadoloo’s collapse he’d become unaccounted for…
Balrog- Blood-Smeared Claw
Balrog believes he’s the most beautiful narcissist. For the sake of his own aesthetics, he was cooperating with Vega. Revealing many splendid techniques of dreadful speed, onlookers don’t cease to be fascinated. Not much more to say of his whereabouts from the time of Shadoloo’s collapse…
Sagat- Tenacious Emperor
The invincible tiger also the entitled emperor of the Muay Thai world. Having moves of those kicks to rank equal with might as far as said for no other man in existence. Having formerly received from Ryu a defeat once that knicked into his breast, he acquires a new strength to continue training.
Vega- Demon Being, Come From Hell
Narcotics, testing on living people, weapons dealings etc., his hand dyed in all crimes as commander of the secret society Shadoloo, the demon being and dreaded user of psycho power. Though it appeared that his fate was together with Shadoloo to collapse, acquiring a new body to carry out revenge, an eerie secret maneuver begins.
Wow they know as little about Vega’s crew after Shadaloo’s collapse as we do. Guess there won’t be too many plot changes this time, if they stay so lazy.
Are they saying that Vega acquired yet another body after he got killed by Akuma, or are they talking about his new body after SFA3? The context seems to indicate the former, since the “Shadaloo collapse” mentioned along with it is clearly the “after SF2” collapse as indicated from M. Bison’s and Balrog’s bios. At any rate, it’s nice to see some confirmation of body switching, since I’m not sure we were ever able to track down the exact official statement of it ACTUALLY occurring per say (which was one of the prime points of contention as to whether SFAlpha was canon or alternate continuity).
I think Shadaloo has always kinda sorta been a pseudo secret society in a way, I think. It did have infiltrators everywhere around the world and ties to the occult, after all. Or maybe I’m just being influenced by all those old fanfics and writing clubs I was always in that warped it into such (secret society).
Does the head always remain the same?
I’d go with Shadaloo being more secret army than, say Cobra.
I wasn’t expecting any plot changes for Claw, Boxer and Sagat. Dictator though… I agree with Tiamat: It seems to suggest that he got yet another body. There’s some explaining to do, cause if Gouker’s SGSed him, as far as we know his soul would be destroyed and that would be IT. In light of this, I see two possibilities:
-
Akuma never used SGS on Bison. Perhaps he will do so at the end of SFIV and finish him off for good this time.
-
Bison was somehow able to either save or transfer his soul before SGS connected.
Frankly, I’d prefer my explanation, used in my Street Fighter Perfect Project: That Bison’s soul was destroyed in SF2, and it’s someone else who has revived his body (sans soul) and is using it as a kinda zombie henchman. Hell, that may yet be the case, since the entry is fairly vague…
The former. Yeah it’s nice to see that too. I agree. And yeah it sort of has been like that, in Vega’s eyes if no one else’s. I started wondering because that’s an ultra-rare (no CCG allusion intended ) description of Shadaloo. You usually read “mysterious organization”, “criminal organization”, “crime syndicate”, “narcotics organization”, etc. for Shadaloo. “Secret society”'s been usually reserved for Gill’s organization. AAC’s about the only other source that calls it a secret society, in its SF2 entry.
Up until the end of SF2, Vega’s always been the head of Shadaloo.
That’s what I’m thinking is the truth as well. Even though he’s back, it’s pretty certain that Vega’s not the one large and in charge anymore.
I mean his head. Does his head remain the same? Do they frankenstein it onto his new body (besides Cammy)? They could do a post SFIIWW comedy show with M. Bison having Vega’s head in a glass or as a puppet, to rule Shadaloo.
Oops, I get what you meant now. Good question. I would imagine no, because I doubt that “body” refers to anything but the complete physical, material composition that needs a soul to animate it. In other words, not a headless torso with limbs. When we see Vega having an interest in Ryu being his next body, I’m sure he doesn’t want Ryu beheaded then reattach his own head to Ryu’s torso. So I’m pretty confident that the human being, at least for SF’s case, consists of body and soul rather than head and body.
Semi-related, anyone recall the American version of Golion, Lion Force Voltron? At first the uniting sequence included “form arms and body”, then in later episodes it changed to “form arms and torso.”
LOL at Shadaloo having Futurama “Head in a glass jar” technology. Frankly, it’s not that far fetched, since Gill’s organization stocks human brains in glass jars.
re: Go Lion/Voltron
Yes. I remember. I noted that change in later epiodes as well. What about it?
re: Shadaloo
So… if what vasili and I are thinking is at all even remotely true, anyone care to place bets on who’s running Shadaloo (or the Neo Shadaloo, or whatever) now? Is it someone new? Is it someone old/borrowed and returning, say Urien or Gill? Place your bets folks!
Also, quick question: Do we know as yet if SFIV is an actual tournament or not? Half the cast sounds like it’s competing in tournament, and the others sound like they’re doing Alpha-type stuff.
I just thought about it after aerialgroove explained his question to me. World Events made it clear later on that they were talking about the body as in torso instead of a headless body like in Beetlejuice or Scooby Doo.:looney:
For now it seems that SF4 isn’t another World Fighting Championship, and just an epilogue to SF2.
Aerialgroove and vasili10
Thanks for the explanation abou that Guile photo, it’s pretty nice, however… I don’t think it can be placed as a offical Capcom artwork…
Vasili10, thanks for the SFIV bosses bios!!
But… until now, to me… it only proves that it’s yet another SF2 remake, I know it’s said to be after SF2, but, storylinewise, it’s sounding to be a more improved SF2.
You see, I didn’t spot anything mentioning that SF2 (events) happened…
The collapse of Shadoloo isn’t enough… you could say that Shadoloo collapsed after Zero 3 when Vega’s first body was destroyed (if memory serves me right, on Cammy’s SSF2 account, it’s mentioned that Shadoloo used to be more powerful in the past)…
There’s no mention of M. Bison running it for a while…
No mention of Gouki humiliating Vega…
Vega acquiring a new body, only proves that it could be a Zero 3 connection rather than a SF2…
Of course I could be wrong…
Aerialgroove
I always looked at Vega’s bodies as clones, so, same head.
But in SFZ series he could have used drugs and Psycho Power to be so buffed…
Sure thing Lord Vega.
The game’s overall story does account for SF2’s tournament occurring one year before SF4. The term “World Fighting Championship” which was later extended to include SF1 and SF3 was first coined for SF2’s overall tournament. It’s not just Ono-san’s words.
Indeed you are! vasili10 knows wut’s up. Check it out:
And I’m sure you can find this (or atleast something similar) as well character bios at the SF4 official website. Anyone been there???
I’m hoping (but not betting) that it’s Gill’s organization. It would be nice if SF3 wasn’t completely 100% forgotten by Capcom in all of this O_o
Golden Dragon
I’ve seen this text before. BUT, until now, the character storylines do not contain the events that happen during SF2. I mentioned some of those events.
They might release a more detailed account of the characters when the game is released…
Well Eliza is pergent with Mel in SF4, and she is never mention to be pergent with Mel in SF2. So yeah SF4 does take place after 2.
