Good to see the thread’s still up and running, and all the regulars are back. 55 pages…!
That official description of how the Sonic Boom feels was good stuff, Saiki. Got any more?
Well, Guile is the current topic here. I should come back. :D:D
I know EX a’int canon, but the way I see it personally, Arika had to get COJ’s permission to use their characters and COJ admittedly oversaw Arika’s portrayal of their characters in the EX series. So to me, their stories in EX a’int canon, but any move a Capcom character did in that game, they could do in the real storyline.
Earlier I saw talk about Ryu’s Dejin Hadouken, and it got me to thinking, couldnt Ryu combine the Dejin and Shinkuu Hadouken to make one really powerful Shinkuu Dejin Hadouken?
I actually think the first EX game could be Canon. Correct me if Im wrong please, ya know by giving timeline/character contrictions or something of that sort. I heard Arika intended the first game to be Canon (after they changed the name from Gaiden to EX) but then after it was released I think Capcom asked Arika to make the next game(s) not Canon, which is probaly why they did something so drastic as having Kairi become evil and kill Akuma.
Oh yeah, I found out that all the EX games were motioned captured, which is good for Capcom, since they could just get the moves for Ryu and Chun Li and easily put them into Capcom All Stars. It be pretty funny watching the martial artists doing the motion capturing, and then try to see them look cool when they’re throwing an imaginary Hadouken.
The EX series is not part of the normal timeline.
The company that made it, Arika, had people who designed some of the SF2 cast like Chun-Li and Zangief, so you can think of it as a sort of alternate reality.
Here’s some more info for projectiles
Ryu
Hadoken - About the same temp as the human body. Feels like getting hit by a nice solid kick. Once hit by this, the damage stays for a vey long time.
Shakunetsu Hadoken - The same temp as hot water. Not enough to burn cloths.
Ken’s Hadoken - Neither hot nor cold. Feels like a nice solid punch. The damage doesn’t stay like Ryu’s.
Sakura’s Hadoken - Is very warm, not as hot as Ken’s. The effect varies on which type. Small - Feels like a hard slap. Medium - same as Ken’s. Large - Same as Ryu’s.
Gouki’s GouHadoken - About the same temperature as the human body. Same kind as Ryu’s but much greater in power and effect.
Dan’s Gadoken - Very warm. Feels like a slap.
Yoga Fire - Same temperature as boiling hot water. The damage feels kinda like the same feeling you get when you eat something very, very spicy.(Curry)
Tiger shot - The damage feels like getting mauled by a ferocious tiger. The temperature is freezing cold.
Kikoken - About the temperature of a warm bath. The hit doesn’t feel like a solid hit but more of an effect that affects the whole body.
Soul Spark - Isn’t cold or hot. The hit itself isn’t hard at all but it makes the area it hit very numb.
Psycho Shot - Very, very hot. And the hit will burn the area it hits instantly and makes it very numb.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Sagat’s Tiger Blow blue/whitish in the CVS games and orange/yellowish in all the other games? If it feels cold like Saiki says, looks like Capcom corrected it’s coloring in the CVS series. Of course, I’m just going by memory here. Not that yellow/orange is such a bad coloring since it reflects the whole “Tiger” aspect. I’ll check my games to make sure.
Speaking of Sagat, why isn’t he in SF3??? Possible answers:
- He’s dead. (I dunno, but maybe he died before getting to fight Ryu)
- He got eliminated early. (participated, but didn’t make it that far)
- He still training when the tourney happened. (maybe he still isn’t ready for another match. . .)
- He won the SF2 tourney. (if he did won, then he should fight in SF3 to retain his title. unlikely)
- He quit fighting. (unlikely)
- He got sick. (unlikely)
- Married and happy with his life. (very, very unlikely)
One question about Gouki’s weird ending in SFA2 (American version) :
- Why is Gouki telling Gen to “come closer?” Does this mean that he’s gay or something? Also, he was glowing when he said that.
- He disappeared without a trace after Gen’s reaction "What?!. And he rematerialized on the Great Wall.
- Gouki said: “Worthy opponents have challenged me. (shows pictures of Gen, Ryu, and Vega on the sky. Did he fight Vega before SF2?) Perhaps this place isn’t weak as I thought. I could live in this place and perfect my killing power. I will be the next… to die!!! Bwahahahaha!!!” Does this mean he’s an alien or something? Very weird ending.
Also, in Sodom’s ending in SFA2, he fought Fujiyama (AKA E. Honda) with his helmet on. OWWWWW!!! IS this allowed in a sumo match?

I think that Gen has excellent control over his “ki”, just that he displays it differently. He doesn’t form flashy projectiles or bolts of energy, rather he uses it to back up his attacks. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean that it isn’t there (think of Ryu and the Shin Shoryu-ken). Anyway, there are multiple ways to adapt, control, and manipulate ki. I think that Gen’s style is more subtle and less obvious. I think that his ability to survive the SGS and his supers display this.

Okay, we all know all know fighters could manipulate ki. It’s what poers their move or anything, but in a limited degree. As what you said, everyone could manipulate ki in their own way. which makes my point - that eventhough Guile doesn’t show it, he could manipulate ki as good as Nash.
But we have to remember Nash taught Guile. We have no facts to approve or disprove that Nash trained Guile. We also have to remember almost all students get better than their teacher. But your belief that Nash is more agile and finesse is for naught. If you’re right, Guile is much more solid which would make his stamina and endurance better than Nash.
Maybe that’s the reason why Guile is good. When Nash trains Guile, Guile in all those year/s of training(1 0r 2?!) Guile could take alot of Nash’s attacks, which in turn made Guile’s body stronger.
I’m not saying that you’re wrong or anythin’ but I’m just tryin’ to prove that Guile is in league with Charlie.
As with Ken and Ryu, so is with Nash and Guile. Nash is the flashy one, while Guile is the solid one.
Just my two cents.
No, his sonic hurricane doesn’t move and CvS2’s sonic hurricane is much better.
Comparisons:
Sonic Hurricane Alpha 3:
- time of move is faster.
- If you’re hit(even in air)you’ll recieve the full damage at the moment of impact
- has less range.
Sonic Hurricane CvS2:
- time of move is slower.
- You have to be in the ground to recieve the full damage of the move(in air, you’ll just bounce)
- You cannot backstab Guile.
- has much more damage than Alpha 3 hurricane.
- has much longer range.
- could guard crush and cheese.
I do know that Guile even without the Flash kick(I use cr. fp or s.sp in CvS2, SFII s.rh or c.fp) could beat people.
Anyway, did Charlie invented the dash feature? hehehe just wanna know.
How about Dee Jay’s projectile?
Remy, Urien, Gill, Kyosuke, Batsu?
Just askin…
if you ask me, the answer is number three. i’m sure he would have done well if he had entered, but maybe he thought that his time would be better spent training by himself. after all, he does not care about his pride so much anymore, so its not like he enters tournaments to prove how great he is
Hi I’m back after many days of just reading I have decided to comment on some of the statements made in the thread. To give a possible answer to the question about Gouki’s alpha 2 ending usually in stories people of immense power usually search for other of immense power who can supass there own. I think in someways Gouki wants to meet somebody who is strong enough to beat and perhaps even kill him. I personally beliebe that he is still waiting for Ryu but I don’t know could Ryu bring himself to have a fight with Gouki to the death. It’s kinda like a warrior code usually people wholive revole around battle want to die in battle. The same thing goes for Gen. He has a sickness but he would rather die in battle then succumb to an illness.
Next topic , on the subject of if Guile from SF2 is stronger than Nash in Alpha 3. Going with my gut I’m going to say that Nash was better. I think that at best he is equal to Charlie in Sf2. Being that Nash taught Guile his moves I think he was the superior fighter. Nash just seems to have more ability(Yes I know part of this is because Alpha came out later but even in CvS Guile does not seem to have the same ability). Maybe if he is in another Street Fighter he might be better just not now.
And for my last comment i think that we should all get togther or comment on a tier list for fighters for each tournament. Like what tier was Retsu (I think I spelled that right) on in Street Fighter. Well that’s all for now.

You go against us you die!!!..Simple as that
Nash and Guile
I think Nash’s version of the Sommersault Justice is better, see the angle of his kick. . . my God he’s directly perpendicular to the ground. . . (Guile’s Sommersault Strike kicks at an acute angle. . .) Anyway he’s more talented than Guile because he invented it anyway. . .
On the other hand, I belive that Guile is better than Nash because in terms of normal attacks. He has a double sweep because he is more muscular than Nash, Nash doesn’t have big muscles but Guile does look like a big-muscled commando up close if you ask me. . . I don’t think Charlie could do a double sweep mainly because of his build. . . And his (Nash’s) crouching Fierce doesn’t hit straight up but Guile’s hits 90 degrees above ground. . . Enough of the stupid geometry stuff and get to work!!!
Where did you get this information?
I agree with the rest, but I think it’s faster. After the initial charging animation, it hits instantly. And I’d like to add that the Sonic Hurricane stays out even after Guile gets hit.
My mistake again… What I meant to say was, the whole move time is longer than the SFA3 sonic hurricane.
I’ve heard Sagat got tired of fighting after SF2. There was no way he “didn’t get far” in the tournament since he was more skilled than most of the people in SF3.
Gouki knows Gen is sick and doesn’t kill him, which is why Gen says, “He knew!”
I suspect the translation is not very good there. The only known fight with Vega is the one where Gouki kills him. Gouki’s not an alien, he’s just got a lot of power, so he seems different.
