Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

damn, I never knew that.

Is there an aesthetic difference? I never noticed.

S’alright kev_the_bev, it’s a 20-year-old fact brought up once in an interview with SF1’s development team.

I don’t believe there’s really an aesthetic difference between the two; just his state of mind when he performs them. The tiger uppercut is supposed to be Sagat’s ideal emulation of a shoryuken, while the tiger blow is the rough-around-the-edges angry attack, an appropriate finish to his tiger genocide super with which he nearly annihilated Adon.

Great stuff as usual vasili10!

Akiman’s girls of the month in Gamaga magazine for the last 2 months. Lol I have no idea who they are this time, um, vas?

Some random stuff. A few months ago in Play magazine artist Ryu Moto did this awesome drawing with PSP characters, including Ingrid and Arthur!

This fan art showed up in Arcadia back in October. Since I keep track of Ingrid images for SRK poster Master Chibi, well I’m not sure who here cares but what can it hurt! She’s with Hauzer and Demitri can be spotted in the background lol!

Now for some super random Capcom timeline stuff for the very bottom of the Plot Guide:

First I have to talk about the Devil May Cry anime. In a Play Magazine interview with Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi he had this to say.

*Q: Here at TGS the returning heroines Trish and Lady were shown for the first time. It’s been a long time since DMC3 in the continuity, right?

A: A long time, yes. The continuity goes DMC3, DMC1, DMC4…

Q: But Trish and Lady haven’t aged a day, and seem to know each other.

A: They actually meet each other for the first time in the DMC anime, which takes place after DMC1 but before DMC4. As far as their looks, Trish is a demon so she doesn’t age (laughs). Lady didn’t have an official age in DMC3, but we thought of her as being in her teens. When you see DMC4’s Lady in motion, I think you’ll notices she’s definitely an adult, she’s much sexier-in her late 20s. *

While it was not stressed this time Capcom has stressed quite a few times that the timeline for DMC is 3, 1, 4 with 2 happening far into the future (no one currently knows how far into the future though).

There’s another interview here - http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/09/kobayashi-devil.html where Kobayashi states that there is about 10 year gap between DMC3 and DMC1 -

ā€œBecause a big part of the fan base is guys, we always put in a nice sexy character, hence Gloria. In the past we’ve used Trish, who is a recurring character, and also Lady. Lady appeared in 3, and now she’s about ten years older than she was in that one, but she’s grown up very nicely, as you’ll see.ā€

So two things to note here. While we still have no idea what years the DMC series takes place (the anime seems to indicate 80s and 90s, no ipods, PCs, CDs, you have to manually turn TVs on, phones have cords, records are still in use, actually the games are like that too, but in DMC4 Nero is listening to an Ipod, hard to pinpoint the time I suppose… Maybe late 80s, early 90s - 00s?) there is at least a ballpark of ten years passing between DMC3 and DMC4, with DMC1 and the anime falling in between 1 and 4.

The anime is also used to explain Trish and Lady meeting each other. Which isn’t so much of a stress since Kobayashi was a producer on the anime and Bingo Morihashi who worked on the anime was also one of the writers of DMC2, 3 and 4. I suppose it’s as close to a ā€˜canon’ anime that Capcom has right now, especially if it is being used to explain Trish and Lady’s meeting. :lovin:

With regards to the new PS3/360 Bionic Commando game, I originally was thinking that the new character, Nathan Spencer was a relative and / or a son of the console Bionic Commando, Ladd AKA Radd / Rad Spencer. But in both EGM and Play Magazine they claim that Nathan and Ladd are the same exact person, Nathan’s just a less goofier name. Um, this is a bit strange to me since they look sooo different. It doesn’t seem like it’s an Alternate Universe game since it’s suppose to take place 10 years after the original Bionic Commando, according to Capcom. In Bionic Commando’s American intro for the NES, it states that the game took place in 198X, making the newer game occur in 199X. (Unless it’s following up the Gameboy version, but I doubt it). In the trailer for the newer game, the enemies shown are wearing red, I wonder if they are related to the ā€œBaddsā€ of the American version and not Nazis like the Japanese version. Well, time will tell.

Lastly, Capcom is putting out another Commado game available for download for the PS3 and 360 in early 2008, dubbing it Commando 3. Part 3 because Mercs is considered a sequel to Commando, even if both have nothing in common. BTW during Play’s article on the new Bionic Commando game, when they commented on the Rad to Nathan name change, they said in parenthesis, *ā€œFor all you superfreaks, Super Joe’s still Super Joe, short for Supervisor Joseph Bishop.ā€ * Hey who’s a superfreak? Well, didn’t know that Super Joe was short for something else, that’s pretty dope! At the very least this removes some doubt with regards to whether or not Super Joe returned for Mercs, at least in the English version the Joe character in Mercs is called ā€œJoseph Gibson.ā€ :looney: Anyway, so far for Commando 3 they say that there are 4 playable characters. The ones that have been named are called Antonio Ramirez Carranza aka ā€œAnimalā€, a lady named ā€œSmokeā€ and another character called Roy McMurray aka ā€œBoomer.ā€ Capcom hasn’t named the fourth playable character yet, I’m hoping it’s Super Joe so he can join Mr. Spencer, Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dhalsim in the '08 comeback trail. Damn Commando was the very first Capcom game I ever played, first in arcades and then on the NES console. :lovin:

Thanks sano. Yeah they are toughies this time. Name guesses in parentheses:

First pic, pair: from top to bottom I’m guessing, Suchi Pai & (Gyoki Shouko) aka Suchi Pai S. From the game Idol Janshi Suchi Pai.

Second pic, triple: from left to right, (Kintaku) Kasumi, Shouko, (Kintaku) Miki. From the games Super Real Mahjong PII & PIII.

Here’s Nash’s Zero 2 account from Gamest SFZ2 and AASFZ2 also.

Nash from SFZ2

Somersault Justice

A section of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base…that place is an exclusive military-use training facility. Even today under First Lieutenant Nash’s guidance, new troops were taking on the martial arts coach.
"Not yet! Higher, with all your might!"
The new troops having robust bodies and flexible motions, easily able to handle inferior training, having been guided in steps for ā€œkicksā€, they vehemently grew with Coach Nash.
The new troops’, sufficient precision and destructive force of their ā€œkicksā€ was opposed to, the furthermore higher level desired by Nash. A color of doubt started to be seen in their eyes.
"What’s wrong? Your faces say, that’s as far as is adequate. Alright, I’ll show you the pattern!"
Nash with both hands bound behind him, just crouched on one knee.
"No need to hold back. 2 of you together attack me!"
What so-called counterattack could be from such a situation?
The 2 new troops while delusional would spring upon Nash.
Immediately following, in a sharp wind together with a closing noise, the 2 of them were blown off backwards.
Somersault kick…the backwards revolving kick, 2 times in succession what sort of preliminary execution from a stance not able, was released.
Nash having calmly stood up lent a hand to the defeated new troops.
The new troops astonished, as renewed US Air Force troops in order to not help but go beyond they were recognized by height in the huddle.
ā€œAs you boost your foundational ability, you’ll first seem to be capable of it. Therefore my troop members, it is this standard of foundation you want to master it.ā€

Next time, Rose. Thanks for reading minna-san.:clap:

do you happen to have this?

Okay, thanks for the info Vas!

Ditto vasili10 and happy holidays to Warriors Fate!

Happy Christmas to all of ya guys ^^

I do, was about to buy the whole mag in auctions but came across scans of the pages I wanted by accident one day. So wishing this could happen someday with that confounded SF1 pamphlet.

Sure thing minna-san. Merri Kurisumasu!:china:

EDIT: C’mon folks, one more post for #7777!

Bump for good luck in '08!

Happy holidays everyone!

Happy holidays!

according to an interview with ā€˜Edge’ Magazine (god that’s almost as retareded as ā€˜Play’) we expect the following for SF4…

-Chunli, Zangief and Honda return as well as all major SF2 characters (ie Cammy of the new challengers).

And while its possible for some Alpha characters (Probably Sakura or Rose), no SF3 characters will be in this game.

Seems like Akuma’s returning too…according to that post about the spanish mag.
No SFIII chars = too bad, but somewhat logical, most of them wouldn’t have any reason to fight in the SF tournament before SFIII anyway.

I hope there will be some decent new characters, otherwise they could just do a remix of SFII in 3D. SF2.5 would fit better both timelinewise and dimensionalwise.

He’s a given though, if they ever did another SF game without him represented in some form or fashion I would be surprised.

The only SF3 characters I could think of worth including were Alex, Urien, Hugo and Dudley. You could argue Q but he’s pointless and too weird.

Alex is the main character of SF3 so he doesn’t fit. Dudley they have no need for with Balrog returning. Hugo is almost comically large and they’ve already announced Zangief will be back.

That just leaves Urien whom I’ll a little surprised won’t apepar in some form given he’s the only character after the second tournament to even allude to Shadoloo’s existence.

So the projected roster I would guess at is:
Ryu(confirmed)
Ken (confirmed)
Chunli (confirmed)
Dhalsim (confirmed)
Zangief (confirmed)
E.Honda (confirmed)
Akuma (likely)
Guile
Blanka
Vega
Sagat
Balrog

Cammy? (likely but not confirmed)
T.Hawk? (only other member of the new challengers with a story to tell)
Deejay (likely as he’s fairly different from Guile)

Feilong? Pretty pointless to bring back if you ask me.
M.Bison? I’m sure he’ll be back but I think he’s supposed to be dead at this point.

Alpha characters I would guess we’ll see…
Adon (fight with Sagat so the latter can regain his title I would assume)
Sakura (the only iconic Alpha character)
Karin?
Rose?

Tiamat or anyone else…

That official art of Titantic Tim and Birdie with the 500 Trillion powers information…

Did anyone else notice that it sort of makes Birdie a Transformers fan? He has the Decepticon logo on his left shoulder and his two rings pictured, one has the head of Optimus Prime/Convoy and the other has Megatron on it?

Yeah it has been discussed sometime on the thread. Here’s the pic to those who forgot:

Maybe just an easter egg.

Daigo Ikeno SF4 interview.

as in someone on the art staff has a TF hobby?

Maybe if Birdie resurfaces in SF4 we can check and see.
