Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Random. Someone stated on the MMCafe boards that All About Capcom said that Lee was Yun and Yang’s uncle, not their father. Erm… does anyone still have those SF3 bios that stated things like Yun and Yang taking over their grandfather’s restaurant? I forget if it had something in there about them being raised by their uncle or not.

Can someone confirm that uncle thing? Is it possible for one to translate the Japanese word for uncle/father as uncle and another as father so it could all just be a translation misunderstanding?

Meep…

Here’s a list of Sodom’s quotes from SFA3 where he is trying to sound Japanese. (I posted the ones from SFA2 a while back on this thread.) I got these from All About Street Fighter Zero 3. First, I’m going to start with his win quotes. Some are in the U.S. version. In Capcom USA’s defense, most of us wouldn’t get the jokes anyway.

A. MESSY FULL ON NIEL!
B. OH, DOLL A HOLD!
C. AND TURN MORE SKI NIEL!
D. NIP ON DIE SKI! ( Not sure, but I beleive this means “Nippon desuka” or, “do you speak Japanese!” )
E. GOTS AND DEATH!
F. MEET SAW, SHOW YOU? ( This one’s in the U.S.A. version. they translate it as "How do you want it?"
G. KICK ON SEE MAT SHOW! ( In the U.S.A. version. “We are good friends!” )

And, here are two that are only in the U.S. version.

I. Oretachi wa mutt achy da! ( We are dogs in pain! )
J. Boku wa itchy bun desu! ( I am the best! )
K. Please don’t thank me. In fact, “Don’t touch my mustache!” ( this one has nothing to do with anything I just like it. Imagine Sodom looking all mustached Dudley-like under that mask! )

And the rest seem to be winner to loser quotes. Yeah, looks like SFA3 had these as well for all the characters and we got cheated out of them once again!

VS. RYU: COOL SHOOT NIGHT!
VS. KEN: SHOW HE THEY, NEIL ANGRY!
VS. CHUN-LI: OH, COACH YET, YEAH!
VS. SAGAT: EAT CAR GAY NEED SAY!
VS. ADON: MY DOOM OR KID KNEE!
VS. BIRDIE: SEE MAY TEA HIGH!
VS. GUY: CAN I AND THEM!
VS. SODOM: KEY LIST EIGHT GO MAN!
VS. NASH: WHY LAW, SET EYE!
VS. ROSE: BE JEAN HACK MAY!
VS. VEGA(dictator): ON YOUR BE DEAD NIGHT?
VS. GOUKI: OH, NEED WARE SO TOE!
VS. DAN: NET CALL, NEED CALL BANG!
VS. DHALSIM: CAR RUSH MAN TIME!
VS. ZANGIEF: EAT AND BUY!
VS. GEN: COOK ON, TOES EYE!
VS. ROLENTO: CUT EIGHT, AND MAN!
VS. SAKURA: SIR CLUTCH EEL!
VS. BLANKA: KICK IT, PARTS!
VS. E.HONDA: SUIT GO IT DEATH NIEL!
VS. BALROG(ninja): ORC AND MAIL, HE YACHT CALL!
VS. CAMMY: EAT CALL, EAT CALL!
VS. CODY: OH, TWO CURRY!
VS. R.MIKA: SHOOT CHEAP, NICK RING!
VS. KARIN: MEETS MAY CHAT, DIE YOUNG!

Anyway, remember to work these quotes into daily conversation! Ha! Once again, any help with what Sodom’s trying to say would be appreciated.

Siegfried: Please keep us informed on what’s going on with your site.

To go out with another laugh, here’s Blade ending from the SF Movie game. I got this from AAC because there’s no way in Hell I’m buying that game!

“For years Blade has infiltrated Bison’s corrupt organization in secret to his brother Guile. Now with Bison destroyed, Blade is at last free of his deep cover assignment and is able to resume his professional wrestling carreer as Gunloc.”

WHAT THE?!! Capcom USA, stop being greedy! Pass that joint you smokin’!

From sano:

> D. NIP ON DIE SKI! ( Not sure, but I beleive this means “Nippon desuka” or, “do you speak Japanese!” )

I think that would be “Nippon Daisuki”, or “I really love Japan”. I think “Nippon desuka” would translate it into something along the lines of “Is this Japan?” It’s been a while since I’ve studied Japanese, so somebody correct me if I’m wrong.

I have no idea what the others are.

Also:

> To go out with another laugh, here’s Blade ending from the SF Movie game. I got this from AAC because there’s no way in Hell I’m buying that game!

> “For years Blade has infiltrated Bison’s corrupt organization in secret to his brother Guile. Now with Bison destroyed, Blade is at last free of his deep cover assignment and is able to resume his professional wrestling carreer as Gunloc.”

LOL!!! I had forgotten that was in there!

Hey, is there any dialogue in Final Fight One for the part where Hugo picks you up in the West Side stage and pits you against the other Andores? Because if that really happened to Cody, keeping in mind that he was fighting alone, wouldn’t it theoretically place him in Tier 4?

And why was Cody placed in Tier 5 anyway? If you set the Andore battle aside, assuming it happened, then helping to take down the Mad Gear means little because those guys are just a bunch of scrubs who can’t even take down one adversary in a gang-up (again, with the exception of the Andores). Dan could probably take them on.

I’d also like to know why T.Hawk and Dhalsim are in Tier 5.

Oh, one more thing. In case you didn’t already know, there’s a flaw in FF1’s ending. Haggar tells Jessica that he’s glad she wasn’t harmed when she most likely was. In the Japanese intro of the game, you see Jessica in nothing but underwear after Damnd tells Hagar to turn on the monitor. I don’t know if that’s how it is in the revision, but you could go to klov.com and see for yourself (no screenshots of it for obvious reasons).

Sodom’s quote’s are Capcom’s way of making fun of American’s trying to speak Japanese. Kinda like how English speaker’s make fun of Japanese people and Engrish.
ie. KICK ON SEE MAT SHOW - He’s trying to say “Kekkon shema sho”. Which translates to “Let’s get married”. But Sodom thinks it means Let’s be friends.

And with the Lee and Yun/Yang thing. This is how father is written in Japanese. . Parent is written e. Uncle is written f(younger brother of the parent) or (older brother of the parent). And in AACG, it states parent.
K, I just checked in AACG again and actually re-read the “Lee brothers” section. It actually doesn’t say Father or parent. It says relative. So Yun/Yang are related to Lee. Here’s what was written for anyone who cares. ???. grrrrr… totally mis-read that part. It’s a good thing someone else can read Japanese to correct me.
You’ll need to have Japanese text coding installed and “on” to see the writing.

Well, regarding tiers, you have to remember that it’s possible that Street Fighter follows ‘anime’ rules. IE, any character that’s not a boss is just canon fodder. Thus Cody taking on an entire city means nothing for power because all those guys besides the bosses were all just wusses compared to anyone that counts.

I highly doubt Hugo was that powerful back during Final Fight One. There he was only Andore Jr. and it took place what, 10 years before SF3? The guy probably improved a lot over time, I think.

I think T. Hawk is in Tier 5 because he can beat Noembelu, who’s in tier 6. Not sure, though

Wow, Saiki, thanks a lot^^ Really appreciate it  Hmm… dangit, I forget what that article said back then about Yun and Yang and their uncle (or even if it did say “uncle”). Though I suppose it doesn’t matter too much since can’t put too much credibility on a magazine article.

Well, Hugo himself probably wasn’t that powerful during FF1, but I gotta tell you I strongly believe that his relatives back then (just the ones you fight in the ring; I’m excluding Hugo’s dad because he was just another generic enemy like his son was) were on the same level Hugo’s currently on now. Primarily because they’re a lot older than Hugo is, so of course they’d have to have more experience. And they’re clearly a lot tougher, and it shows by the fact that they have two (or three?) life bars in the game, just as all the boss characters do whom you say matter the most. This may be just conjecture, but still: THAT’S LIKE FIGHTING AGAINST TWO OR THREE ACTUAL BOSSES AT ONCE! Defeating them would mean a HELL of a lot for what Cody’s worth, if he really did fight them which I’d safely assume to be true since all the Mad Gear members had to have been beaten. If that event didn’t have some importance, with dialogue or not, what would it still be doing in the revision for GBA?

Hmm, come to think of it, all of FF1’s bosses should fall somewhere in Tier 6, huh? So I guess beating them would explain Cody’s placement in Tier 5. slaps forehead  But again, I feel the ring battle with the Andores’ likelihood to have happened should move him up to Tier 4. Aw hell, perhaps up to Tier 3.

Ultima and Saiki - Thanks for clarity on Sodom’s quotes. My mistranslation was more of an uneducated guess if anything.

There’s a chance that Lee’s not Yun and Yang’s father? Woe…

GF2/Grenade Falcon - Didn’t get a chance to say it before but welcome back! No, in Final Fight One for the GBA there’s no dialog where Hugo grabs you.

Tiamatroar - Just read your latest Plot Guide update - it kicks Ass as usual! Before that, I haven’t read it since April. Thanks for adding my name to the list of credits. Don’t think I did all that much, but I’m honored to be mentioned. Well, here’s the two most interesting things I found in the Plot Guide this time around. These facts may have been there before, but I haven’t read the Guide since April and I suffer from swiss cheese memory…

Rose Being Inspired By Lisa Lisa From JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure - Man, I can’t beleive I never noticed that being the big JoJo fan that I am, especially of the first three chapters!

Remy’s fighting style being unrelated to Nash and Guiles, as his attacks are not based on sound so he probably came up with his own style - Yeah, I always wondered why his style resembled Guile and Nash’s, but I guess it’s more of a gameplay thing than anything. Cool, that clears up something I always wanted to know.

Quick question. I’ve been thinking about Capcom Allstars and how it has Alex and Final Fight Haggar. If the two fought (in this universe or whatever since Haggar’s probably too old now) who would win? Haggar has more experience being a pro wrestler and cleaning up Metro City a few times, but Alex has that flash chop projectile and Gill beleives he’s the “chosen one” even if Ryu mopped the floor with him. Well, who do you guys think would come out on top?

Wow, SFZ3 has character to character win-quotes? …damn Capcom of USA  Sigh. Now I want to see them. Though… I doubt there are any J&J ones and even if there were, it’d probably all be generic robo-speak, though :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the comments on the update^^ The next update is… coming along extremely slowly right now. Mainly due to lack of new info and all.

I personally think Cody and Guy might be higher, but it’s honestly very hard to tier them in my view since there isn’t much to compare them to. Storyline-wise, Cody and Guy don’t interact with many Street Fighters outside of Final Fight and each other, and it’s pretty hard to make comparisons when they don’t interact with other Street Fighters on a fighting level to be compared to. They beat Sodom and Rolento, but that doesn’t mean too much since we CAN tier Sodom and Rolento to some extent and the way it comes out is that they’re too ‘low’ on the tiers to be a good gauge of power (well, at least we know that E. Honda beat Sodom. And Rolento’s most likely around Sodom’s level)

Hugo’s also pretty hard to compare, I think, since all he did was withstand a shin-shoryuken. That means he could be anywhere from tiere 6 to tier 3 without any other things to compare him against at his most present form…

All About SFZ3 deals with the arcade version, so Juni, Juli and Mike Bison don’t have character quotes in that book since in the arcade they’re just swaps for Vega.

even though it’s officially listed as unknown, i’d be inclined to say russia because:

-in one of zangief’s many SF2 endings, gorbachev says something to him like “thank you for defeating that mad russian” (that’s probably way off, but its something like that). now i know that it was changed so that borgy never said that, but it is something to consider

-the reason gief gets involved in SFA3 is because russia is being over-run with shadowloo’s drugs. even SL probably deals drugs all over the world , the fact that russia gets special consideration might mean something

-he looks a lot more russian than thai

Vega(Bison) doesn’t have a nationality. Remember, his body is made up so he really doesn’t have one. And who knows what he was originally.

And ya, in SFZ3, each character has character to characters specific quotes. Some are funny…
Like Zangief to Ryu.
“I don’t like projectiles but i like you personally…”

…wow, Zangief being gay is that obvious?

Dammit. Here I’m looking for some solid hard disrefutable proof of and it turns out that it was right there all along, and I don’t get it once again thanks to Capcom USA

Whatever. I’ll throw it into the next update. Better late than never.

I wanna see what Maki, Yun and Eagle’s quotes are in the GBA version. Although it has no endings, I hear that the win quotes and even the beginning storyline info when you play as a character in arcade mode were retained. Hope Capcom USA didn’t screw that up either (yea, right. I wish)…

My blessings to you, Saiki! Now those dimwits at GameFAQs will have NO reason to question the integrity of the Plot Guide and that of everyone here! Finally, no more rebuttals like “They said Zangief was gay but didn’t provide any evidence, so everything in that FAQ has GOT to be BS!”. Fuckin’ Cap USA. :bluu:

And for further emphasis Tiamat, I’d throw in Lilith’s ending with Zangief in MvC along with Gief’s CvS2 intro with Eagle (the intro itself doesn’t indicate anything, but it’s the fact that Capcom even GAVE Gief an intro with Eagle that counts; what else could warrant the need for an intro between them besides being gay?).

About Hugo, I think his withstanding the Shin-Shoryuken is solid grounds to base Cody’s potential on, and especially Guy’s. You have to remember that the older Andores, with the exception of “Andore” (in purple), were more powerful than Hugo was back during FF1, as per generation. So they must’ve been on that same present level that Hugo’s on in terms of being able to take damage, which of course could consistently mean that Hugo is now on that same level as they formerly were. Fighting two or three of them back in FF1 should equal taking on two or three of the present Hugo, who was able to take Ryu’s Shin-Shoryuken.

If Cody could beat them, which again, I believe to be true as there is no evidence suggesting the fight didn’t happen or that Cody wasn’t alone for just that fight, then he definitely deserves to be ranked higher. And Guy too. That’s when you think about their meeting with each other in SFZ3.

And now you’ve raised yet another question.

If Rolento’s SFZ3 storyline happened, how could he have remembered Cody when he didn’t fight him at all in FF1?

How Rolento knows Cody? I dunno. I’m thinking that a few (but not all) of the Mad Gear members knew Cody and Guy and had run-ins with them before Final Fight happened and Mad Gear got smacked down for good or so. At least, Damned knew Cody from before, but Edi. E didn’t, judging by the dialogue. Cody’s dialogue with Rolento could go either way, though. Alpha Cody’s dialogue shows that he recognizes Sodom, though he doesn’t seem to recall ever fighting Sodom in Final Fight (we all know that Guy did. That one’s irrefutable at least), so it seems that Cody knew Sodom before Final Fight One occurred (regular Cody’s dialogue with Sodom could go either way, I think).

Come to think of it, Alpha Guy’s dialogue with Edi. E indicate that maybe he was on the West Side accompanying Cody, too.

At any rate, you have to remember that in the end, Father Andore, Uncle Andore, and Grandpa Andore are NOT bosses. They are only mid-bosses, and it takes at least TWO of them to make up the mid-boss battle at that. If they were so powerful, then wouldn’t they be bosses as well as not need to fight as a duo (or trio if Grandpa Andore is there)? Therefore, the end result is that if you were to tier them as Hugo’s SF3 level, then you’d have to up all the Final Fight bosses to tier 3 because they are definately tougher than simple mid-bosses. Then after you do that, Cody and Guy would jump up to tier 2, hehehe…

Course… I do think Cody and Guy do deserve to be somewhere up there, anyways, but if you continued by the logic of father and uncle Andore being in tier four, then you’d have to lump E. Honda up to tier two, because he beat Sodom who’s a boss and thus higher than simple mid-bosses, and now we’re just getting exceedingly crazy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and in Final Fight 2, Grandpa Andore (who’s along the same lines as Uncle Andore and Father Andore) is only a generic enemy, albeit a pretty rare one and the most powerful one.

Abigail could probably wipe the floor with all three of the elder Andores at the same time. Well, gameplay-wise, he sure as heck could.

I still don’t think Hugo deserves to be in Tier 4 just for withstanding a shin shoryuken, myself. Since that makes him higher than Alex, which is just… weird. But eh, not like there’s much else to compare him to so there isn’t much grounds to start an argument on, anyways.

No one ever takes the intro with Eagle or that Lilith ending as hard proof, sadly. It’s too… circumstantial. Which is why I’m glad for this win quote :stuck_out_tongue: The Lilith ending is already mentioned there, though. Forgot to mention the Eagle one now that I think about it…

There’s also Guy’s level 3 super which I guess kills it’s victim. That could also lend support for ranking him higher.

Ok, first of all let me say this thread kicks ass. Now I would like to post a theory on a 3S character. Twelve.

I believe that Twelve’s design was inspired by the T-1000 in T2 : Judgement Day. Let’s look at the similarities.

They are both assasins sent to kill someone.
They can shape their limbs into objects.
They can copy the physical appearence of people.
They both feel no pain.
Twelve speaks in binary code, whice is used in robotics.
They are both made of something that let’s them shape their bodies into any form.

Coincidence? You decide.

I also have a few questions about Twelve.

Is he immortal since he feels no pain?
How does he speak? Does he blatantly blurt out numbers?
If he has no memory, how would he tell the Illuminati that he killed Necro?
How long can Twelve hold the shape of a person?

I’ll probably think of more later.

Also I believe that the Illuminati’s armageddon philosophy was taken from T2, but in a wierd way, so I won’t post it unless someone asks me to.

Tiamat: Point taken. So does that mean Hugo’s the only Andore who’s really devoted to wrestling?

Hcparker: Guy’s super isn’t necessarily used to kill anyone, just cripple them badly. Otherwise, he’d be higher up than Ryu, and so would Cammy because the Shin-Shoryuken doesn’t kill.

When I think about it, maybe Hugo’s so powerful because he went legit and got lots of experience pro-wrestling rather than just gang-bashing people on the streets? That would explain how he managed to advance beyond his parents, I guess.

I think I have a reason to boost Guy and Cody’s rating.

When you think about it, most of the others are used to fighting one on one (two on one at the most). However, Guy and Cody DO take on at least 5-6 guys per screen, if not more. Even if the guys are chumps, it does show that they have versatile fighting ability. And besides, must I remind you that they didn’t really rest in the FF storyline, all they did was fight fight fight until Belger, which Cody uppercutted through a window.

And is it just me or is Black related to Rolento in some way? They almost look the same! Instead of a baton, Black wields some sort of whip.

Also, it’s my opinion that the one to give Black the boot was Dean, because, gameplay-wise, Black steals the Spinning Lariat, Guy’s Fire Palm and Lucia’s general speed. Dean’s probably someone they never expected to find Black, Dean does his electricity spin move, sending Black into the generator, which makes Black and the building go boom.
