Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Oh sorry. I really should read more carefully.

Streetwise

ok i was just wondering does final fight street wise tie in with the storyline of the prevous final fights or was it just giveing us an update on cody life

ps from reading some of these posts who woulda thought that i played with a gay red wrestler for about 10 years lol

What do you mean by tie-in? Well, at any rate, I’m sure it ties-in with Final Fight One on more aspects than just Cody’s life (albeit not as much as I’d hoped for, especially after Sodom and Poison’s Streetwise concept art got my hopes up). Doesn’t really take into account particularly much of FF2 or FF3, though. (not that anything ever does)

streetwise

cause i mean like when this game came out it was 2005 right or 06 but anyway if i did my math correctly cody in streetwise should be about 35 years old takeing a break the street fighter circuit cause of his legs but when after the od’ing on glo his legs are starting to return to normal which means he can be put back in the street fighter circuit was this game trying to introduce kyle as a new charicter to the street fighter circuit or what?

Um… it was just trying to be a Final Fight game, I’m pretty sure from the interviews with various programmers and designers. The Capcom higher up guy went to Capcom of America Studio 8 and literally said “Hey, why don’t we bring back the Final Fight franchise?” (that’s a near exact quote from the interview) and that’s about it. Nothing really Street Fighter related was thought of at all.

At least from the interviews (alas, we never did get to find any reason why they decided to chuck Cammy of all people into the game)

sucks

aww man that sucks i was hopeing for a new charicter to master on street fighter

Before that can happen, they’d have to actually make a new Street Fighter, you know.

…unless they did another Ingrid thing, I suppose.

Special thanks to Shin Bata Kun who I managed to catch on AIM and could tell me who Akiman’s girl of the month from Gamaga magazine is! This is Excelica from a Dreamcast shooter named Trigger Heart Excelica.

Talking bout artwork, I finally (with the help of Mr. Nik of StreetFighterDevotion) to find out who did the famous American Street Fighter art! His name is Mick McGinty and I asked him if he would like to do an interview so if you have any questions send me an email (aerialgroove@yahoo.com)!

After some searching & researching, I’m thinking that you or he meant to say '88 instead. The Game Simulation Video series was released by Pony Canyon in the late '80’s. Eh, guess I’ll see when it arrives to me, supposed to be only 20 minutes long. Hoping it’s got good stuff in those 20 minutes.

Lesse now, goes through checklist

-learned that the seemingly official 2nd Impact art is from Skill Smith Combo Videos

-still have no idea about the mystery Dan (Gouki?) sketch from The First Place

-gotta somehow read those SF1 pamphlet pages! Anyone know of a powerful image magnifier?

-Saiki?

Okay done with that. sano’s CFJ quote requests, check. Rose’s original account, check. Rose’s official story, pending…

Okay ready. First up the CFJ quotes:

Felicia to Ryu

“You’re strong but…your dance is a weak point isn’t it?”

Ryu to Yun

“Even if you cross fists with thousands or tens of thousands, you won’t even slightly come to understand the importance.”

Yun to Ryu

“How’s that? As long as you like you won’t be deceived!”

Ryu to Urien

“That was tremendous vigor…this is tenaciously produced power isn’t it?”

Urien to Ryu

“Ridiculed pity…at any rate your eyes are a displeasure!”

Ryu to Nool

“I was delayed by trouble, somehow though I seized a victory.”

Nool to Ryu

“Rrough to the point of tough sensedsed. Nnot even funny nowow.”

Ryu to Karin

“Open your eyes to it. You don’t want to see your pace.”

“Let’s fight…again, in case that be your wish.”

Guy to Ryu

“A fist-containing soul…surely you had the honor of taking it up.”

Pyron to Ryu

Next up:

Rose from SFZ

Original account from SF2 Himitsu Hyakka

“Someday surely, your field of battle will come to be. Be not forgetful of ‘soul power’, grip it, it is but a powerful weapon, yet a weakness” Rose’s master’s words.
A blue, cold flame of hatred stretches in the world! Hell’s fire has become a great cluster, throroughly burning everything. …such a spectacle, one day Rose saw in a dream. That is, evil soul power, a premonition of it sweeping down on the world. For Rose, before the dream become reality, she decided to check.
At that time, suddenly she sensed an evil presence. For her, hurriedly opening the door, she rushed out to the street in front of the dwelling.
Several cars came in sight from the side streets, by Rose’s side, the objects would pass by at amazing speed. For her as a sigh, she stared inside one vehicle. In there, a pale aura would release, a red military uniformed man was riding. The man expressed a bold laugh, staring at Rose… That man for sure, was her enemy!

Official Story from Gamest SFZ and AASFZ

From before it was some turbulent atmosphere she was sensing. That was a wicked willed power, a malicious power seemingly controlling all. That power, something she herself could treat as “soul power”, that thing for her was a thing of completely heterogeneous circumstance.
At first it was just a small thing non-excessive. However, she realized that the power was gradually increasing. That also was certain…

One day she saw a dream. A blue cold flame of hatred was stretching out in the world. Hell’s fire has become a great cluster, a scene of thoroughly burning everything…
That was surely a terror. She herself dreaded it, it would be that due to “soul power” would suggest a thing as a great blaze.
The next day she saw that nightmare, she was considering as 1 person. An unpleasant experience. Unless the dream is restrained before it becomes reality…however…
At that moment, she suddenly sensed an evil spirit. That was gradually nearing this same manner of location. She hurriedly opened the door, she rushed out to the street in front of the dwelling. However, there wasn’t anything mysterious. …No! That was certain, from this direction it’s approaching! She once more concentrated in her soul.
Several cars came in sight from the side streets, by her side they would pass by at wild speeds. She let out a sigh as she stared inside one vehicle.
In that black limousine was riding a man body wrapped up in a red military uniform. Seeing him clad in a pale aura that figure was the one from her nightmare. She fixed her eyes on him.
At that instant, the uniformed man looked back. Staring at her, all the while expressing a bold laugh…
A chill ran down her spine, he looked askance at her just standing stock still as the vehicle had run past.

Rose was remembering her master’s words. "Someday surely, your field of battle will come to turn towards your steps. …do not forget, ‘soul power’ you’ll grip, it is but a powerful weapon, yet also a weakness for it cannot conquer…"
In time for her, the true meaning of these words, she would come to know in her cruel fate and within her battle.

Next time, Birdie. Thanks for reading minna-san.

Felicia telling Ryu he can’t dance is too funny!

I’ll update the faq around Good Friday or so.

Rose seeing Vega drive by was interesting too. Thanks for everything man!

Tiamat, you aware that Cammy got a storyline in Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold from Street Fighter Anthology?

Her end-boss is M. Bison and her ending is just some text placed on her X-Men vs. Street Fighter artwork.

Yea, I got the ending. Just never got around to updating the guide yet thanks to busy season.

Sure thing sano.:china:

Hey, isn’t Rose’s Master and Vega supposed to be one and the same? Or was it retconned to be the case for SFZ3? I forget.

Yes they are one and the same, presently and I’m fairly sure since Zero 1 so no retcon. Couple of notes and explanations:

-in the plot guide’s Rose section, some corrections. Neither Eternal says that Rose’s master sent her after Vega/Bison. The original says Vega and Rose had a master/student relationship, direct copy n’ paste from AAC which is correct, and the translation says that they both shared powers and training, which is still somewhat true but not correctly translated obviously.

-also in the plot guide, Guy finds Rose unconscious and with no deep wounds in her Z3 ending. This looks to be cropped from the Alpha 3 shots at The Video Game Museum at least, but AAC and other sources show that in Rose’s ending, Vega’s knifed his hand through Rose’s chest, with some fingers showing and some blood spraying out the other side. So once Vega’s soul entered Rose, think the gap in her torso closed back up before Guy found her?

-taking just the three Rose accounts I’ve translated so far into consideration, I feel that Capcom seemed to be aware of all the things we learn in Zero 3 concerning Rose and Vega: “same soul”, “master-student relationship”, “soul power & psycho power”, etc. ever since Zero 1. We’re told that through “information”, Rose was studying soul power under a “master” for several years, yet we’re also told that soul power’s something that she all of the sudden gained as a “forced attribute.” And later on we read her “master’s” words are advisory, cautious, caring, what you wouldn’t imagine Vega passing on to anyone.
How do I feel that all this fits together? With just one small retcon involving Vega’s past revealed in his SF2 Dash account: his master who was killed by Vega’s psycho crusher taught him soul power rather than psycho power. Vega shed the goodness of his soul because of his hatred for his master, and contrary to his master’s words, he wanted soul power to conquer, and that is what we now know as psycho power, the mental energy bent on conquering others and fueled by hatred. Vega’s goodness “forced” itself into Rose, and with it all the knowledge and memories of how he was prior to his power hunger, including his master’s words. That’s how Rose would believe or explain to someone that she’s studied soul power for several years, because Vega did. And even though the master’s words were really from Vega’s master, the world’s sole user of soul power just as before the Zero series the world’s sole user of psycho power, she identifies Vega as her master because his soul’s goodness is the only reason she would now recall at all the words of caution concerning soul power, the very words that Vega himself hated to hear.

…whoa, that’s some really complex stuff there :open_mouth: Yet it seems the only explanation why Rose’s ‘master’ is portrayed as so benevolent in those accounts when her master was the not-so-benevolent Vega even back during SFZ1. It’s interesting that the soul power concept was thought of and retconned into the story even before SFZ1.

This also gives us a slight bit more insight into Vega’s master, too.

Hmm, it also makes more likely the possibility that Rose really was born a regular person before Vega’s good soul went into her (which is something there’s been other clues at such as the fact that Rose has a nationality, of course)

…all of this could have been served so much better in-game if the games just had some cinematic prologues for each character. That’s some really complex stuff to have to take from out-of-game info that would have made Rose’s SFZ3 ending a lot easier to understand for people.

I assumed that the blood in Rose’s ending (which I believe was censored in the US version) was either metaphorical or the physical wound patched itself up after Vega possessed her. Because in both the Japanese and US versions of SFZ3, there’s no blood present as Guy’s holding her. You’d think a woman who was just knifed through her abdomen with an entire fist would be leaking blood all over the place, especially when held in that position. Of course, there is always the possibility that Guy’s comments about Rose having no serious physical wounds was a mistranslation or addition by Capcom of America, but the in-game cinematics don’t seem to indicate that (nor do I see how her being physically mortally wounded would make much storyline sense in the context of Vega’s motivations, Guy sensing Vega’s presence, and Guy holding Rose like that).

Can someone provide me a link to Timat’s Street Fighter guide ? I am working on a massive Street Fighter Role-Play and I need to help new members become acquainted with the SF universe.

Edit : Never mind I found it in Sano’s signature.

Anyone have any other helpful links and guides ?

I now have no doubt in my mind that Rose was born a regular person, since she was one day “awakened” to soul power according to the Zero’s World account on her.

I didn’t realize that the “physical wounds” phrase was from the Alpha 3 text; I had assumed until now that it’s what you got from Saiki or something. That phrase is a CoA addition, the original text has Guy saying, in old “de gozaru” speech no less, how he always talks BTW, that her life isn’t taking a different situation aka her condition isn’t getting better, and that if she doesn’t get treatment quickly, then he interrupts himself as he feels the chill.
