On that topic, the most I ever found regarding Rival Schools in Street Fighter continuity (after tons and TONS of searching) was a rumour that Sakura wasn’t in Project Justice because the creator of Rival Schools wanted Rival Schools to be able to stand on its own merits without riding the coattails of Street Fighter’s popularity (must have been a bad choice or something, given that PJ was the last Rival Schools ever despite the endings in it obviously setting things up for a sequel). However, thinking about it, even if that rumour was true, that technically would neither confirm nor deny whether or not Street Fighter and Rival Schools exist in the same continuity.
The guys at Studio Udon seem to believe that they take place in the same continuity, but whether they got that straight from Capcom’s mouth or not, I don’t know.
Hmm, could have sword I read it was based on something, but couldn’t find anything either. Characters did appear in a manga, but that was later on, I guess.
My take: Leave Rival Schools in the same universe as SF, but leave them at proper date of RS, i.e. 1999, and remove all links between Sakura and the series.
TAS and I were both thinking about using a RS character in a future SF game, but my choise is Akira, since last I checked, she’s the most popular character in RS in Japan. It would be a very low key appearance and wouldn’t have any effect on her story in RS.
Also, Tiamat, you need to correct the address for my webpage in the next version of the story FAQ. PLease change it to uramble.com/sfp, thanks. I keep getting /index.html entries (which hasn’t been valid in nearly two years) in my server logs, and I keep wondering where they keep coming from, so I’m trying to stamp out all old wrong links.
Awww SNAP son!! It’s the Final Fight 2 COMMERCIAL!!!

I wasn’t able to e-mail Ryo earlier 'cuz we’re renovating the first floor of my house and I had to unplug my computer in order to move it outta the way of the construction. I just e-mailed him yesterday, so I’ll let you know when he responds.
Ah, that’s fine Golden Dragon. Thanks for following up.:china:
I just noticed this today, but in Udon’s Street Fighter Ultimate Edition, there’s a slight change in comic script from SF#0 to UE. As Ryu’s dark half is about pummel him as he’s down, you read Gouken saying in the issue “Ryu, my son and pupil,” but in my copy of UE you read “Ryu, my pupil,”. Nitpicky I know, but why the change? Any thoughts?
Guess no one is as psyched as me about that FF2 commercial. Anywho…

The stats of the SF1 cast can be found on what seems to be a video documentary on Street Fighter 1 that was released back in '98. The cover box’s heading reads “Game Simulation Video”. Ryo says it “explains” SF1. Apparently it’s very rare and valuable. Is there anything else you wanted to know??
Golden Dragon: Really? A video released the year Zero 3 came out, that gave the SF1 profiles, and moreover explained SF1? Wow. Wish I’d known about this long ago. I wonder if it’s a reason why his timeline’s the way it is, opposing AAC which states that it’s now a six-year gap between SF1 and SF2, and keeping it to four years which is what it used to be. Amazing info. Thanks for asking man.
I had wondered if heights and weights for Adon. Ryu, and Ken had changed from SF1 to SFZ. Can you ask him this please? Better yet would be if he could make copies of this incredible tape. Sounds like a storyline gold mine.
My take on Rival Schools and SF - I think they take place in seperate universes myself, seeing as how Sakura’s Blood Type is A in the Street Fighter Universe and O in the Rival Schools universe. It’s physically impossible for a person to change their blood type and no other SF character has ever had their blood type altered for any other game either, (even if their personalities have been altered, in Japan blood types are used to indicate a character’s personality, like horoscopes - Type O is usually assigned to strong leader types so that could be why they changes Sakura’s for RS - or to make her more like a female Ryu, Ryu is Type O) so that must be Sakura of a different universe. Which might not even really matter if Sakura never actually appeared in Rival Schools and was just there as an Easter Egg, which is also plausable.
And of course there’s the whole Kyosuke not in the GBA version and still not in the PSP version of SFZ3 ordeal too. Someone must still want to keep them seperate.
Course they could always go back and change Sakura’s blood type in Rival Schools 1 but at this point it would be pointless / random.
Though I guess Blood Types probably are not a big deal to non Japanese so one might just overlook this small detail but it’s a pretty big deal for them over there. Lots of video game and anime characters get them for example, while in comparison Marvel and DC characters never do have Blood Types assigned. Course Marvel and DC characters never get birthdates either, but lots of the characters are ‘timeless’ and don’t age much over the years.
Rival Schools characters in SF4 - I… just don’t see the point. RS series just isn’t as big as SF is. Plus if SF4 takes place the year the game comes out, most of the kids will have grown up and will have lost the appeal they had by becoming adults, at the very least the series taking place in the 90s would just mean that High School is over and done with. The RS adults would be kind of old too. I guess they could make Roy the President of the United States at that time or something.
Oh the actual art for SFAA itself. Sorry, I think what you get on the cover is it. :\

I dunno about TAS, but I’m working on a grand unification project of sorts, and I’d like to include RS in it. But only as a bit player, not someone hugely important to the central story or anything. It’s not much different to adding Hugo to SF3, really.
(Also, in my version, the new SF game doesn’t take place the same year it’s released, so the gap between it and SF3/the last RS game wouldn’t be that big).
