This thread is a must read. Anoon worked on the Street Fighter the Movie game and discusses working on the game in detail.

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=125411

From that thread, here’s a question I asked Anoon about the game. (Anoon was the live action model for Blade, Arkane, Khyber and F7 in the game).

"WHOA Anoon… You played as Blade? That makes my question a little easier.

Blade’s ending taken from All About Capcom, they used all caps so I’ll do the same -

“FOR YEARS BLADE HAS INFILTRATED BISON’S CORRUPT ORGANIZATION, REPORTING IN SECRET TO HIS BROTHER GUILE. NOW WITH BISON DESTROYED, BLADE AT LAST IS FREE OF HIS DEEP COVER ASSIGNMENT AND IS ABLE TO RESUME HIS PROFESSIONAL CAREER AS GUNLOC.”

Sorry, I can’t help but laugh whenever I read that.

As far as I know, in the American version of Slammasters it was stated that Gunloc is “rumoured to be related to a famous street fighter” and he does have a Sonic Attack. However, this is just in his profile in the American version and not the Japanese one, something that Capcom USA made up (not official).

So really, who’s idea was it to not only make Blade Gunloc, but make him Guile’s brother as a reference to a made up Capcom USA Profile for Gunloc in Slammasters? That’s just really one of the strangest endings in the game, if you happen to know anything about this please shed some light. If not, that’s cool. Thanks!"

Anoon’s response:

“LOL, does it really say that!?! that does seem pretty ridiculous. I need to play SFTM again. Anyway, to be honest I am really not sure who specifically came up with that one. It could have been me or one of the other guys at I.T. For the most part, Capcom USA didn’t get involved when it came to specifics like that, so I doubt the SFTM tie in to Slammasters came from them.
One of the things that is cool about the SF universe is the character to character interpersonal relationships. It’s no surprise that we tried to tie Blade in with the rest of the crew. You have to admit, when you’re looking at the select screen of SFTM, he looks pretty out of place against the traditional SF gang!”

The first post on this link below from the same thread is really interesting on how Anoon almost created Sheng Long for the game!

Gouken (from Street Fighter Movie The Game thread)

When did this theory of mine become a fact?

13 years ago I guess; I didn’t know it was your theory. It’s the reason why Capcom holds the mangas SF2 Ryu and Sakura Ganbaru! in such high regard, above all others, and why they’ve both warranted Japanese re-releases of them for saga anniversaries. Official characters have been inspired from and come out of both of them; Gouken the former, and Kanzuki Karin the latter.

Ah, that explains why both were re-released in that SF 15th Anniversary package in Japan. Thanks!

I see.
Back then we were still guessing:

That reminds me I gotta add Po Lin to the rip offs. Where did Capcom admit she was an inspiration for Yun and Yangs girls?

Also back then we were focusing on his look; my post from anoon’s thread is about his character establishment, no appearance yet, and not until SFZ1. SF2 Ryu was the first time the master of Ryu and Ken was named “Gouken,” and Capcom stuck with that name from Super X on, together with the introduction of Gouki his younger brother, and Goutetsu their master.

Po Lin inspiring Hoimei (Fei) and Shaomei was something sano said back then. I’m curious about where that’s from too.

To be honest I don’t remember where I heard that but I don’t think I was the first to bring it up on this thread either. Shrugs… I’m leaning towards it being one of those things that TAS said right now, but I can’t be sure.

So it’s not official?

Is the Ryu picture on the EGM scan (Sheng Long) a Capcom drawing or ist from EGM?
http://www.answers.com/topic/sheng-long

Dunno, haven’t found anything to support that Po Lin inspired Hoimei and Shaomei, plus they don’t really bear a strong resemblence to each other, in my opinion anyway.

It’s a Capcom drawing, an older Ryu vs. pose from an SF3 prototype, just recently found it in Gamest World so up until now I would’ve said EGM made that up as well, but they didn’t. Dunno if Akiman made the older pose like he did the current one.

Are there other drawings in the Gamest World that I should know of? Do you have it? Thanks!

I should’ve said screenshot instead of drawing, sorry about that. Yes I do have that issue, that’s how I found out that not the entire screen in EGM’s SF3 joke page was forged. It’s #14.

#24 and #25 (last GW) have some Alex sketches amongst some dialogue that Nishimura Kinu is having with an aspiring game designer highschooler known only as Bakkei. Maybe the sketches in 25 are Bakkei’s after taking some pointers from Kinu-sensei, I’m not sure.
These dialogues continue in another spin-off mag of Gamest, the 15-issue series X-Market (pronounced Cross Market). Kinu-sensei keeps going with Bakkei until issue #4, then she’s with someone known as Sub throughout the rest of the series. I’m guessing these mags might have some more rough sketches like the ones of hers that you see in Eternal, dunno if there would be any other SF ones or just those found in Eternal were the only SF ones, maybe, maybe not.

Here’s a page with all the GW issue covers: http://ikusayohei.sakura.ne.jp/gamest_world.html

Side note: #10’s the only one left I’m trying to find & get, it has an interview with Edayan, so something possibly useful there.

Hey Golden Dragon, did you find out anything from Red Cyclone yet?:wonder:

Also, the suggestion was made and turned down long ago, but if anyone wants to shoot Saiki an email, I say go ahead. I’ve been trying once a month for a year now, and nothing’s come back saying his account doesn’t exist or is full or whatever. Who knows? Maybe he’ll answer to the masses.

Man. I coulda sworn that it had been mentioned that the Colonel was an inspiration for Rolento in this thread (or its predecessor before). Every time I go away from this thread and come back, I keep seeing random posts that make me go “Wait, didn’t we already go over this?”

Next I’ll be seeing a post about how M.Bison is possibly inspired by that guy from Doomed Megapolis! And hey, did you know that Yun and Yang look like Duo and Trowa from Gundam Wing? >:|

Sarcasm aside, has anyone mentioned the possibility of Balrog/Vega being partially inspired by Gold and Silver from The Professional - Golgo 13 yet?

Hey TiamatRoar, curious minds wish to know, when’s the next guide update likely looking at?

Ah, hmm… well, not until May, at least, sadly. It’s the busy season for my profession so my time is pretty short these days. 50 hours a week and working saturdays (the worst part) can really drain a lot out of a person :frowning:

No. That’s new. Can you give a list of commonalities?
