Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Correct, issue #13.

Thanks guys.

Wow. Lot’s of rare stuff in here, you guys surely put a lot of effort!
Finally some ingrid pics from Alpha 3 MAX.
Does anyone know where I can find a word by word of her storyline (mainly her dialogue with Rose, Vega and her ending). I can’t find it anywhere.
Oh yeah, in english :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Vasili, I found a scan of where the 12 Doll artwork came from. Is there anything new or interesting in the text there by any chance?

Okay, now that the search for the new part of my post is over with, I guess it’s back to beating the mangled dead horse corpse of the old.

Haggar’s birth year never specifically stated in a profile (to my knowledge). The 1943 birth year was made up only using deductive reasoning (IE, Haggar’s age during the games). His age during various games was stated but I don’t think his birth year was ever specifically stated to be 1943. Therefore, he technically has no “official birth year” to tamper with, because the year he was born was NEVER specifically officially stated. We only concluded the year he was born using the ages from the games.

I did put a disclaimer for Cody and Guy despite them being in the same situation, so I probably just forgot to put a disclaimer for Haggar. shrug But my memory recalls that Haggar’s birthdate was never specifically stated. Either way, anyone with half a brain should be able to look at Cody and Guy’s dates and realize that Haggar’s birthdate (which was never officially stated like those two) is in the same situation. …sigh, how many times am I going to have to repeat the same damn disclaimer? Ah well.

Moving along, to repeat since we’ve already gone over this, FF Streetwise’s timeline distinction comes from the Haggar election poster. It doesn’t mention age or specific dates (besides the removed quote that was removed from the game about FF being in 1989. Hrm) anywhere else to my knowledge. But the election poster’s election year (1982) ties into FF1 taking place in 1987 going by all known relative mentions (elections and slammasters being 5 years before FF1)

Of course, as stated, an NPC stating 1989 for FF1 IS on the Streetwise disc if you hack the thing, but the quote isn’t in the actual game as far as I can tell (I’ve talked to LOTS of NPCs). My hypothesis is that it’s a removed quote after Capcom USA realized that 1989 wasn’t the right date, but of course I have no proof for that. Still, 1982 election is in the game while 1989 FF1 didn’t make it in (at least, as far as I can tell).

Regardless, anyone who says I used FFStreetwise to determine Haggar’s birthdate needs to pay more attention. I used Final Fight 1’s date of occurrence to determine Haggar’s birthdate and FFStreetwise merely to confirm what we already known (or have already gone over a hundred times) which is Final Fight’s date of occurrence. Streetwise is only one of MANY different sources used to determine FF1’s date of occurrence.

Finally, I’m pretty sure AAC or SOMETHING stated that Mad Gear went down for GOOD during or right after SFZ2, so Final Fight 2 could no longer have taken place during its in-game date of 1993.

I’m not really sure how much sense FF1 taking place only 1 year before SFZ3 makes, anyways. Alpha Guy and Alpha Cody’s tone of voice indicated that FF1 took place quite a bit before that when you play as them in Final Fight One. Even with the horrible translation, I’m pretty sure they weren’t talking the way a person would talk if the event happened only one year ago. Their tone seemed way too nostalgic for that.

Where’s the scan from? Cap! mag?

I didn’t make a fact up, Tiamat. FF1 cast did have official birthyears, here’re screenshots from arcade & SFC version. (in official guides also stated like this)

Arcade

Cody
Guy
Haggar

SFC (FF1 & FF Guy)

Cody
Guy
Haggar

  • In Final Fight Guy and MegaDrive CD port of FF1, which were released in 1992, Haggar’s birthyear was 1943.

  • FF2 and Muscle Bomber were released in 1993, Haggar’s age were 50 and 40, respectively. So I think Capcom still thought that he was born in 1943 at that time.

Edit:

I know that, but the game intro of this version (and Guy’s qoute), stated that it took place in 1989. (Yes, I know you also know this.)

And like I already pointed out, their story in Zero3 stated that FF1 events took place 1 year before SFZ3.

As Freak on Board noted, FF1 does have birthdates as well as ages, so the priority question still holds.

The dolls art is from Cap! #8 aerialgroove; the page doesn’t have anything new though Tiamat, just who’s who and where in the arrangement since AASFZ3 hadn’t hit the store shelves yet.

Ah, I see. I need to update my disclaimers for Cody, Guy, and Haggar, then.

Where was it stated that SFA3 takes place one year after FF1?

Finally finished Namco x Capcom playing little by little. It took me 93 hours to complete, that’s insane/pathetic lol! Well there’s tons of dialog in the game. But there’s lots of cool things and Easter eggs in it and it’s cool that it’s not that hard for people who don’t speak Japanese to get through it. My review - 10 out of 10 of course heh heh…

There’s some cool stuff in the later chapters in regards to the Street Fighters, last I checked the fan translations are not that far into it yet. So spoilers, only in regards to SF characters though.

Vega(cape) seems to be in charge of the flying ship Balrog from Strider, there has just got to be a pun in there, lol! First a group fights on the outside of the ship, and then a group fights on the inside. All of the SF characters that you control are present for you to use on the inside - Ryu, Ken, Sakura and Karin, Chun-Li and Cammy, Guy and Ninja Commando, and Rose. Vega appears in the center of the stage, he’s on top of that huge gravitational ball you fight against in both Strider games, and that ball is floating in midair. First he sends three copies of Juni and three copies of Juli after you. I don’t think these are supposed to make up the Dolls because in the game lots of characters get cloned, apparantly by Captain Commando villains of what I can tell. Anyway, soon the real Juni and Juli show up. After you defeat them and all Vega steps down for you to fight him. At the end both Ryu and Ken team up to do their super-combo Shoryuken move to take him down. Then he tries to run away and Gouki kills him with a Shun Goku Satsu. Note that Rose lives after Vega dies, all the way to the end of the game. Gouki never appears in the game again after he vanishes. Ditto for Vega who’s pushing up daisies.

As I said lots of characters in the game are cloned. Of the SFers that get the clone treatment, the ones I can remember are Ryu, Chun-Li, and Karin. Their clones look exactly like them; of the various characters clones in the game that isn’t always the case.

After the final boss goes down and everything during the end, people seem to return to the worlds they belong too. Ken, Chun-Li and Cammy are chilling in Ken’s San Francisco stage when they recieve some kind of invitation from a purple envelope. Sakura, Hideo and Kyoko are standing in front of Justice High School when they hear a helicopter coming down, that Karin’s in of course. They also get that purple envelope. Rose is oddly hanging out with Namco characters in the Spirit World, also recieves the same invitation.

Seems like it’s a big reunion party in Demitri’s stage/castle, the entire cast of playable characters has assembled. Hoover AKA Baby Commando of Captain Commando looks hella funny in a floating baby crib! Soon Jin decides he wants to fight Heihachi, Ryu jumps in and assumes his fighting stance, little by little everyone wants to fight! Haggar wearing a brown suit takes it off so he looks the way he always does. Arthur oddly takes his armor off to reveal his underwear! I’m not sure if they all fight or not or just trash talk. The scene ends with Demitri standing in front of his throne talking with Morrigan, then the rest of the game’s ending plays out.

Guess I’ll go finish up reading the translation, it’s only up to chapter 34 but the author is working hard at it and managed to get that far in only a few months. Just in case -

A.A. SFZ3

Vasili:

The files have been sent. Sorry they took so long: I don’t go online on weekends.

IIWIC (If I Were In Charge), I would keep official burthdates and just adjust ages for events. On a side note, what I would really like to change are all the ridiculous official weights for the characters, at least 40% of which are laughable.

Thanks Ultima, except I don’t see them in my inbox yet. Maybe they’re taking a while?

About SFZ3 and FF1, I don’t recall AASFZ3 say the former happened one year after the latter, just that Metro City was peaceful one year before, which leads into after SFZ2 and FF2 since with the Zero series Capcom decided to have Mad Gear remnants still mildly rampage about even after Belger’s demise.

Yeah, still not seeing any files in my box. Would you mind submitting them once more please? Thanks Ultima.

Yea, that’s what I thought. My notes and the plot guide indicate that it was stated that Mad Gear went down one year before SFZ3, not that Final Fight One occurred. And that one year probably refers to Final Fight 2, where Mad Gear got taken down for good.

Another reason why FF2 can’t happen in 1993 is because AAC specifically says that Haggar stopped being mayor one year BEFORE SF2 (which is 1992), and he was obviously still mayor during FF3, let alone FF2.

vasili:

Okay, files have been resent. I hope they get through this time.

Sano: About Namco X Capcom, I believe the guy that copies everyone else and becomes the clone is Doppel/Dopple from Captain Commando. At least, according to some translations I read. He’s a boss who turns into copies of the commandos in the game that you have to fight.

(obviously, his name is a reference to the word, Doppleganger)

Yeah he appears with clones of himself just about every time clones of other characters appear. Thanks!

Nope, still don’t have them. Very weird.

Try PM’ing me your email address. See if you can get something I send you. If you do, maybe a reply message will bring the files if you attach them from there.

Doppelgnger?

Er, yea. That word :stuck_out_tongue:

IIRC, none of FF2 stages were set in Metro City. And if that’s mean SFZ2, so SFZ2 should take place in 1989. (which I think it fit with Sagat’s story in SFZ3.)

Again, it contradicts with SFZ2, that stated it took place several months after SF1. (if SF1 took place in 1987)

To Tiamat, what do you think about my timeline? (Muscle Bombers series & SFIII series)

About FFSW, IMHO it’s a Capcom USA game. And they altered many facts before, aren’t they? (Ie, Haggar was a newly elect Mayor in FF1, and in Saturday Night Slammasters he was a Ex-mayor. )
