Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

That’s what I meant, regardless from the question if the storyline is connnected, I first see every game as a separate game, and then, if at the time the game is made there still is a canon, you can decide wether or not it’s part of it. Regardless it’s still interesting to me to get the info for the game, even if it’s outdated by antother game that’s power to outdate other games seems weakened by the fact that it doesn’t fit into the continuity in a way that to me is obviously exaggerated. Hope that made sence to you.

This sentence (which the latter half of your argument requires) is complete opinion and not fact.

When did I ever say I was opposed to finding old info even if it was already overwritten? There’s a reason why the plot guide catalogues those things as well. You don’t have to rabidly defend your argument as absolute truth just because you think any assumption otherwise would make everyone stop looking into old info.

Of course it is just opinion, that’s why I said it doesn’t make any sence to me to have the whole tournament after the SFZ3 scenario, I know you think different, doesn’t make it a fact either.

Has aynone gotten a chance to play SFA Anthology yet?

SpaceInvaders reports that Cammy has a storyline in SFZ2 Gold in Alpha Anthology complete with ending. Hmm…

Really? I wonder if she’s playable right from the start.

I heard she is, but I think you have to unlock SFZ2 Gold by beating SFZ2 first or something, then you have to hold a button when you press start to access SFZ2 Gold.

It’s a stupid opinion.

I can’t believe this thread is still going. You guys rock !

I really enjoyed the Post Sano made above. I always wondered which came first. " The Kame Hame Ha or the Hadoken ? " I never would of guess the fireball was in Fist of the North Star first !

Anywho , it’s good to see the fire for SF info never died out.

The fire shall not die before she is seen.:bgrin:

As I predicted.

Regarding Streetwise sorry sano and TR but I do think Guy got ruined. “The end justifies the means” crap is precisely what CoJ was trying to show with Gouki and to a lesser extent even Belger.

You absolutely, positively cannot go down that path with a hero character because you forever tarnish him and leave only the obligatory ‘redemption’ storyline available to him. More to the point Guy didn’t need that storyline and shouldn’t have been put in that position in the first place. There are lots of other things they could and should have done with him.

No, the lesson of Streetwise and why it bombed was because it was a game created strictly for shock value. See ‘Shadow the Hedgehog’ another embarassment to a huge franchise.

shrug I have no strong feelings for my opinion on whether Guy got ruined from a ‘is the storyline good or not’ standpoint. What I’m interested in is the facts. Or more accurately in this case, is it OOC for him to have gone down that path given what we already know? Was it Capcom of America that put him in that position, or was he set up by CoJ to be in that position already? And so far from what I can tell from his SFA3 ending, hints lead to the latter.

It’s not like he goes that far down the darkside in Streetwise anyways, though. He blows up a factory, plans to use a gun to threaten Chang, and that’s about it. If anything, I felt they half-assed it (seriously, choose one or the other and go all the way, you crazy Capcom people. It makes you seem like you have no passion if you just dilly dally on the fringes like that. Granted, maybe they DID plan more but it got cut. Like everything else). Kyle’s the only guy who actually does any killing (another point that’s oddly not emphasized despite Kyle asking Vanessa if she ever thought about killing anyone).

And Final Fight Streetwise bombed because it sucked (even for those who liked it like me, it generally at best was only decent). Graphics, gameplay, length, music, story, everything. I thought everyone knew that. People weren’t giving it 3’s and 4’s in their reviews JUST because of the shock value, and I’m positive shock value wasn’t the only reason (although it likely was a factor as well). There is no single “lesson” to be learned from Final Fight Streetwise. There are LOTS of them.

Nothing to apologize for Hcparker, I don’t have strong feelings about the whole Guy thing either.

Thinking about it, I think that anyone can change under the right circumstances in real life. Course there are times in fiction where people/fans can not except this, like say if Spider-Man started killing people or something. But with Guy we have a situation where we don’t even know what the situation was. Cody went to jail for ‘some crime’ Guy comitted that we don’t know what it was.

I really doubt Final Fight Streetwise will ever be mentioned/referenced again for all of this to kind of matter. Chances are either something will come along to contradict it, or nothing will contradict it and it will just hang their like a big meatball or something, you know like Final Fight 3.

On a side note I did play the demo of Shadow the Hedgehog, I had fun shooting at people, it was just so funny! I won’t buy it just like I won’t buy a regular Sonic game, I don’t mess with mascots too much nowadays. So many games, so little time… here’s hoping Sonic will be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I’m not upset over Guy’s angle. Honestly, I felt Cody’s turn was more jarring than Guy’s. I mean I took Final Fight’s ending on face value, espc since I first played it as a kid, and I thought Cody was really all for justice. So when he popped back up in SFZ3 and it’s like, ‘oh, he’s a criminal now,’ I was like WTF? Guy’s angle was at least set up through Z3, and Tiamat said, he didn’t even get that dark. He’s training the next generation of Bushin, as expected, he kept his part of Metro clean until the events of Streetwise, as expected, but he’s got a gun, so he’s a bad guy? I mean the entire FF series is “end justifies the means,” really. Every final boss has been killed. It doesn’t matter, ultimately, we’ll never hear about Kyle Travers or anything Streetwise related again.

On page 2 there’s a ranking of female fighters, dunno if it’s for an actual tournament in EX’s continuity or whatnot, but they’re given entry nicknames:

  1. China’s Heart (Chun Li, one more added kanji would turn it into China’s Madam believe it or not)
  2. Broad Daylight Sailor Uniform (Sakura)
  3. Tranquil Gi (Hokuto I’m surmising)

Maybe it’s for tourney results. 'Cuz I would think that strength wise Hokuto is stronger than Chun-Li since she can hang with Kairi, and she’s definitly stronger than Sakura.

Even for tourney results, it’s a little sad that they felt they had to have the 2 regular SF characters higher spots than the characters they made up. Chun-Li I can see being at the top just for popularity, but Sakura over Pullum Purna, Blair, especially Hokuto, I dunno, just can’t see it… course Sakura is more popular than the other SF EX females too.

Maybe it’s a popularity ranking, I guess

And Cody’s change was definately one of those “thought up on a whim and not really foreshadowed to at all” things, I’m sure :stuck_out_tongue: It is rather ironic that thanks to poor phrasing and such in Guy’s Streetwise website profile and a pic of him in a mafia suit that so many people think of Guy as doing a complete 360 when anyone who’s actually played the game sees that Guy… really doesn’t do that much as far as anyone who played the game can tell.

Yeah, maybe it’s a popularity thing. I know Akira Nishitani said he really liked Hokuto once before.

Udoneko posted this over at the SFD forums regarding if they will do a Final Fight Legends story after their Street Fighter Legends Sakura story, an upcoming limited series based on Sakura.

"As I have explained, Capcom would not allow us to do an official Final Fight book at this moment. It has to be a seperate license that we need to sign in order to fully ultilized the FF characters and stuff, which we are not ready to take on at this point.

However, we do have plans to do other SF characters after Sakura, if this book sells well enough to justify it becoming somewhat an on-going."
