Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Someone e-mailed me asking where I got Ibuki’s fighting style in her bio as Ninjutsu and Bushido from. I honestly don’t even remember typing that first place but it’s right there in the guide so I guess I did. From the looks of it, I copied and pasted it from an official bio that was provided to me. Does anyone remember/know where this comes from? The e-mail contends that Bushido doesn’t make any sense as either a fighting style or a ninja philosophy, but since I’m pretty sure that it’s a copy and paste from an official bio, that’s probably really not an issue (to the same extent that anstatsuken being an actual fighting style isn’t an issue in a “Capcom says that’s what goes in their bio as “Fighting style”, so that’s what goes into their bio!” way).

EDIT: Nevermind. Google works really well in these cases.

Hmm… maybe I should have used “Budo” instead of Bushido? Or should I have used Judo? Or is Bushido good enough? …guess I’ll just dlsclaim again or something? Oreo. Oh wait, Vasili says later on that the Judo thing was just trivia, so it’s either Bushido or Budo. I assume there’s no difference between the two? Looking at wikipedia on Budo, it appears that there’s a link, but I guess I’ll just have to include “Budo” in the next update.

Hmm… guess Budo really would fit in more, then. Thanks!

Check my old post again. It says ancient Japanese budo, which would be more like bushido, the full contact art emphasizing combat, no holding back. As a ninja Ibuki wouldn’t tone down her style to the level of a martial art, bettering yourself and others, practicing it as a sport and only using it for self defense as a last resort, shunning violence.

Where it’s printed what’s her fighting style is in several sources, one place is AASF3.

sano: It’s true that “l” can be “r” in Japanese. However, the ambiguity doesn’t exist in this case. “Barroom” I translated from a kanji combo rather than katakana, so there’s no guessing game here.

Okay thanks!

Ah, so that’s the exact meaning? Thanks, Vasili!

Okay, upon further inspection, Kojiro (the unarmed red ninja) in Captain Commando has the same punch sequence as Guy except missing an extra jab at the beginning (so he does one punch, then a punch with the other hand, then an elbow, then that unmistakable turnabout round house Bushin kick. That last one is incredibly obvious) and Hanzo’s sword animations are the same as some of Ginzu’s, so I’m now I’m pretty darn positive that the corrupt clan thing is true. I mean, I find it rather doubtful that they aren’t affiliated with Ginzu if they’re using BUSHIN of all things, unless one thinks that Capcom was happy to whore Bushin out to everything under the sun back then (which I don’t think so, given that they said Ginzu was a “successor” of the Bushin style indicating it was still a special fighting style presumably not just given to any old ninja clan). They obviously weren’t just ripping Ginzu’s animation for lazy reasons since Ginzu always fights with his sword thus they specifically had to go out of their way to program in those Bushin animations for Kojiro.

(Also, I’m now positive that Guy’s genin in Streetwise use Bushin, too. Guy’s animation for his punch in 3D is very distinct)

I have a bunch of them from the 97 series. Let me know which ones you don’t have and want to see scanned if any.

sano & TiamatRoar: Sure thing.:china:

Aerial groove: I did a quick mini-update to the plot guide for that Kojiro thing, by the way. It’s uploaded to the geocities address.

vasili10: re: Temple

Makes sense I guess, seeing that random folks like Blanka’s mom and Guile’s family wouldn’t have access to Shadaloo’s base. I just thought that the stage was Bison’s palace, not some other temple.

Now if we only knew what was Capcom Europe’s basis for saying the Shadoloo Temple Gates are in Malaysia…:wonder:

They just have no clue that’s all, some dude types whatever he feels like, he can’t know all games and their storyline, he’s just a website guy.

Tiamat, thanks I’ll upload it with my next update.

Sano, fresh, I’ll let you now which ones I need, gotta check!
I’m uploading new cards by the daily (FightingStreet.com>Things2Buy).

So where are the SFIII Third Strike secret files?

Please someone, uploade them!

A question on Guile’s guide (up to 4.4 now:clap:) info: where did we learn that his Z3 stage is Ghost Valley Nevada? About the only Japanese fansite that gave all Z3 locations said “Name Unknown”. Does Double Upper or any other version say anything different? Curious.

Also Karin’s alternate stage (from the same dead site) is listed as “Queen of Victory”; another site says “Queen of Victoria”. Anyone have the Japanese editions to see which one is correct? The “number” part is just a counter for foreign ships, so not really part of the stage name.

And the FF2 Guidebook bios:

Mike Haggar

Was at one time a street fighter, presently he works hard as Metro City’s mayor. For previous work, in order to rescue kidnapped daughter Jessica, together with Guy, and Cody, a struggle unfolded with Mad Gear. Recently in order to rescue Guy’s master and his daughter kidnapped by the remnants of Mad Gear, he’s come to travel the world over.

Carlos Miyamoto

A fighting stylist aimlessly turned up from the direction of South America. Settled in Metro City, originally a freeloader off of Haggar. With outward appearance harboring a cool nihilistic impression, occasionally an entertaining fool.

Genryusai Maki

Is Guy’s master Genryusai’s second daughter. In comparison Guy’s fiancee is her older sister Rena, with a mask that forces its way through she’s not without exception an unmanageable woman, an extraordinarily strong spirit of rivalry. Incidentally during her student days, she was living as head of a club of rabble-rousing reckless driving delinquents. Even so, she has Guy’s favor yet, with a disobedient character being a hindrance, when meeting they say merely complaints.

Vasili10 - Vega’s to Guy is one of the funniest ones!

Ryu’s to Vega’s was pimp, saying that he’ll never give into SNH. And it still doesn’t hint at him beating Vega in SF2, like the Guile/Vega one does a bit.

The only one that confused me, what does Ingrid to Vega mean?

Vega’s to Ingrid’s seemed open ended to me, like he said her power was different from Soul Power, which with her SFZ3 storyline it might be, as the source of both Soul and Psycho. So it doesn’t seem like an outright contradiction to me. Of course it lays out that the two never met, but since CFJ came out before she became an SF character that’s to be expected. And of course, who knows if the two crossed paths in SFZ3 besides… there’s always the chance she showed up to late, saw him beaten and time traveled away I guess…

Thanks a lot man! I’ll update the faq tomorrow.

If I recall, Rose said to Ingrid that her power was different from both Psycho Power and Soul Power as well. This likely got changed when they decided to shoehorn Ingrid into SFA3 (sorta like how Shadaloo Cammy in SFA3 is pretty darn different from Shadaloo Cammy in X-Men vs SF)

Ah, so that’s where the whole thing about Maki being from a biker’s gang came from. Good to have that confirmed  I’m trying to figure out if the whole thing about Maki liking Guy is there too (is it the mask line?)

And from the official Capcom artwork of course.

What do you guys know/think about this: http://mitleid.cool.ne.jp/vega-washizaki.htm

The official artwork had Guy there too and as close as Sakura Ganbaru was to officialness, it still was a manga, so it’s nice to have it in writing as well.

Isn’t that the guy that you pointed out Vega seems to be based on at your website? Wow, I didn’t know the similarity was THAT drastic. Amazing Capcom didn’t get sued :open_mouth:

I’m not sure if it’s Kato (the guy Vega is based on) and I don’t know if it’s older or newer than SFIIWW. Vasili10 what do you think?

Talking about the Secret File. It has Chun-Li on the cover on a TV screen. It seems to be a making of of a SFIII 3rd Strike soap or movie or something. You see all the actors and you see guys in the background building the stage and stuff. Kind of funny. This time I liked the sprite sketches a lot, Remy looks totally gay like always and for Q they also drew some humans running a way from him.

It also features a whole site about recording the Hip Hop tracks for the game which I think is quite fresh since I personaly liked the music a lot.
