Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Random: What were the names that I asked for to be plot guide accreditted for the Living Room Games SF RPG? More out of curiousity than anything else. Just posted to their forums that due to the pen-and-paper RPG industry going down the crapper, the SF game sadly will have to be cancelled :frowning:

Guess it’s truly done for now. Rats. I missed Dash no Chris again!

I think the names were yours, Saiki’s, and I don’t remember the third but maybe Siegfried’s and/or Clay’s.

Also Cammy was ā€œbornā€ in 1974, still January 1st; she beat you by one year at least sano.

Oh, I mean, the real names. Trying to figure out if the names made it to the credits or if they accidentally named me as Joseph Chang for some reason :stuck_out_tongue:

Brought Streetwise. Just as I figured, it’s good stupid fun. Hmm… do think the reviewers were a bit too hard on it, though. If you take it in stride and not too seriously, it’s pretty fun. There’s just… so much silliness to laugh at like stomping cockroaches or a mini-game involving slamming a door on someone’s head.

Oops, my bad. Same order as SRK names above, James Chang, Yoshimitsu Suzuki, Mikael Sundberg and/or Joshua Zimmerman.

Yeah, that’s how I feel. There’s a mini game where you can destroy someone’s car like Final Fight and/or SF2/SF3 too. The worst things about it are the graphics and those terrible looking FMVs, and loading every time you walk through a door is really annoying. But really, it’s not stuff that gets in the way of gameplay. You can pick up almost anything and use it as a weapon, can run around doing missions or bet up old ladies and knife them to death if you feel like it, much like most games in this GTA-esque genre. There are a few Easter Eggs like a Final Fight Streetwise billboard and the Arcade machine of the first Final Fight game is in the game too. I think this is a very solid effort for Capcom USA’s first true baet’em up. There’s some really adult stuff, about as adult as a straight to video rated R movie in the 80s, the most graphic thing was going to a porno theater (all you see is a close up of a person’s lips on the big screen) and when you walk into Weisel’s office, there’s a girl under his desk doing… well… servicing him…

I think it’s good stupid fun too. Thus far people who have the game on Gamefaqs are saying the same thing, that it’s not as bad as reviewers are letting on.

Too bad about the SF RPG game, that sucks.

Ah, thanks, Vasili! Was just trying to remember :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw a picture of a nude woman somewhere. I think it was in one of the rooms in the hotel where you fight a lot of the Stiff’s goons. It was semi-blurred but I think that was more due to the bad graphics than anything and it was full upfront nudity unless my eyes were deceiving me.

Supposedly, there’s a Ryu vs Vega poster somewhere (dunno WHICH Vega. Spaniard or dictator?). Also, in the Barfly, the light/marquee above the billboard is an advertisement for Cammy Lager (ā€œGet Cannonspiked!ā€), complete with picture of Cammy’s buttocks. It seems that the 2nd World Warrior tournament was quick to commercialize.

Hey, keep an eye out for any other posters if you can. I want to see if there’s a Street Fighter 3 related one there somewhere.

I guess the enemies DO have names, but it looks like it’d be a pain in the butt to try to record them all, especially since I think sometimes the same model has different possible names. So far the only ones I can remember are a generic enemy named ā€œCarlosā€ and how the Stiff’s goons have similar nicknames to their boss like ā€œThe Mechanicā€ and ā€œThe Scholarā€. One of the GLOW druggies is Joseph. And one of the dog’s names was Comet.

…I had to kick a doggy named Comet. I felt so sad :frowning:

I still don’t see why this game deserves three’s and four’s in reviews. At worst, I’d give it a five (and at best, I’d give it a 7.5). For all the various crappy parts or exhaggerated parts (the most of which I think actually make the game more fun by giving me stuff to laugh at), the only thing that REALLY hurts the game IMHO is the camera, and even that doesn’t totally destroy things the majority of the time (I’ve only really had problems with it so far in narrow places like the hallways of the hotel).

SLIGHT SPOILERS

The hotel was long but pretty fun. I played it Metal Gear Solid style in some places after I got the pistols, heh (and then you get to shotgun-blast ā€œzombiesā€ later on in it Resident Evil style. This is too funny!). Boss fight there almost killed me, though, which would have sucked (I think when you die, you go back to where you last saved or somewhere. It’s often friggin’ far far back, though)

Oh, and Capcom continues the gay tradition by having some guys hit on Kyle.

sighhhh they should add alex for streetwise .

is like having the rock in doom the movie .

huh ???

^ Yup, get your respect level high, and NPC men will walk up to Kyle and say things like ā€œYou’re a wet dream come true Kyle Travers.ā€ Hookers will say stuff like ā€œI’d do you for free, Kyle.ā€

Fanboy easter eggs noticed so far:

Ryu vs Vega is a poster in Tiger’s gym. The two faces are Ryu’s and… um, I’ll have to check again, but I think the other was blonde so it’s probably Spaniard Vega.

Dudley vs Balrog is also a poster in Tiger’s gym, depicted as a boxing match.

Sagat vs Rolento is a poster in Haggar’s gym (leave it to Haggar to be interested in the whereabouts of a Mad Gear member, I suppose). Sadly, I can’t read the smaller text to find out what the heck that fight could have been about. Of course, all these posters could be simply easter eggs with no intended storyline bearing.

All of the faces on those posters… really don’t look like the characters they should be depicting, but that might simply be due to the art style (what with Streetwise not using anime-style art)

I think Ghost is a tribute to Joe. And Vitto yells to Andore when Andore slams you sometimes, ā€œYou still got it, Andore!ā€ indicating that Andore’s pretty darn old by now. Kyle in his journal during that fight also remarks that like Cody, Andore’s a legend. So… I guess that might not completely conflict with Andore being Hugo if Andore is Hugo, given that a lot of time passed between SF3 and FFSW, and it’s hard for me to imagine Andore being a legend worthy of being compared to Cody of all people when he was just a generic gang thug in the FF games while it’s easier for me to imagnie Andore being a legend if he started his own wrestling army a la Hugo. This, of course, isn’t defniitive at all by far.

Okay thanks! I’ll be sure to check those posters out.

Beat it. Missed two sub-quests. Sigh. Hey Sano, any chance you found the subquest, ā€œMagic cards Part 2ā€ or whatever the name of the matching cards game is? Er… if you got that far. No idea what the second quest I missed could be (is there a Part 1 sidequest for magic cards?).

Didn’t see Sodom and Poison and Rena anywhere (Guy being married wasn’t hinted or mentioned at all). They were either cut or are hidden secrets or something. There won’t be a Hugo or Maki, I imagine. Because one of the possible random generic thug random names is Hugo, and one of the possible random names for the angry schoolgirls is Maki. Yeeeesh. Fought Guy’s men twice (stupid Lou killed me the first time around) writing down names and sadly no Sho or Ginzu among them :stuck_out_tongue: Names are randomly generated though so it’s still possible Sho and Ginzu are possible names. I’ll see on my second playthrough as I search for Sodom and Poison.

Not going to say more right now since I don’t want to spoil anything. Nice touch with some of the latter storyline points, but they’ll go right over the head of anyone not familiar with the first Final Fight :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s a ā€œBasaraā€ poster in the Music Store in Japan town. Is that an omniyusha poster or something? It looks like it to me.

Random note I’m leaving here so I don’t forget later: Kyle was likely just a llittle kid during Final Fight 1 (Haggar says last they saw he was just a scrawny kid, 2-Ill was ā€œaround these parts ever since I was a kidā€, Guy and Kyle never even met which is already hard to swallow but becomes pretty much impossible if Kyle were a teen fighting alongside Cody against gangs during FF1, Cody is almost more like a father to Kyle than a brother, etc)

Random Note 2: Lots of people say that Haggar’s name was changed to Hagger for the game, but it’s actually spelled Haggar when Kyle first meets him in the actual game so that’s probably just a webpage and instruction booklet error.

TiamatRoar - I’m not that far into the game, just passed the Hotel stage. With my usual rotation of 30 games at once I won’t be passing the game anytime soon but I’ll try to speed it up a bit…

About the Ryu and Vega poster -

I’m assuming they mean the Spaniard since they also have a boxing poster of Dudley and Balrog, so I’m naturally assuming they are using American names.

But I’m not exactly sure the guy pictured is Vega. For one his hair is short and two, next to his face to his left it says ā€œJOEā€ as in (maybe) Joe from SF1. And under his face it says ā€œMAD.ā€ Now I wonder if this is a pun to artist Joe Maduriera, nicknamed Joe Mad who did the Ryu vs. Sagat back up in issue one of the comic or if I’m just thinking too much about this, and it says ā€œRYU vs VEGAā€ but only shows Ryu’s face and not Vega’s(Ryu might have a headband, might not, it’s incredibly bright white). Oh well Vega getting a bad haircut fixes all problems…

The add also says on the top ā€œYANKEE STADIUM.ā€ Well, seeing as how no SF2 fights took place there (or in NYC for that matter) this one has to be another fight.

Still feel like I’m thinking too much about an Easter Egg though…

FFS needs a Metal Gear Solid type strat book to explain these posters IMHO…

I so need to draw this.

RYU: I’m a Pimp Named Monk Ryu.
GRANDAD: So, you’re name is Monk Ryu?
RYU: Nah man, I’m a pimp named Monk Ryu. You say the whole thing. You know, lika a Tribe Called Quest!
GRANDAD: Ingrid, who is this clown?
RYU: I JUST TOLD YOU! A PIMP NAMED MONK RYU!!!

Boondocks on Cartoon Network Sunday at 11:00. If you haven’t checked it get the DVDs when it’s out. Oh well this joke still won’t be funny even if you understand it.

Thanks for the pics sano!

Hey no problem! Posted them up at the NY Comic Con thread in the SF comics forum, pics of a bunch of cosplayers there heh heh!

Hey Tiamat, I just noticed another sign worth noting, this one in Haggar’s gym. There is a sign to the left of his desk that says ā€œHaggar for mayor in '82. Fighting for a safer Metro City.ā€ Flows right into your timeline.

Looking closely at those boxing posters, I wouldn’t put too much stock into the fine print. It seems all they did was take real boxing posters and switch the names. Arturo ā€˜Thunder’ Gatti is definitely the boxer on the left in the ā€œRolento vs Sagatā€ poster.

Looking at Guy’s bio in the plot guide, it was stated:
ā€œGuy’s SFA3 ending has him realizing that Bushin is so powerful that what’s right and what’s wrong are irrelevant and insignificant compared to the true power of Bushin, and that his main duty is to train and bear the responsibility of having such power. But… both the fact that Rose’s SFA3 ending as well as the fact that SFA3 Guy in Final Fight One still cares about Justice (he still wants Cody to reform and he still wants to save Jessica) show that this ending didn’t really happen.ā€

But since Guy in Streetwise clearly is no longer the altruist he once was, and has focused on training the next generation of Bushin, would that mean his SFA3 ending did happen?

Yea, I already added to the next update of the plot guide that apparently, Guy’s SFA3 ending DID happen. It’s kinda funny seeing everyone say that ā€œGuy was ruined!ā€ in Streetwise when there’s actually reason to believe that if anything, Capcom is following continuity

As far as I can tell, Guy in Streetwise is heavily a ā€œThe ends justify the meansā€ type of person where right and wrong in the middle don’t matter. There are many things he does in the game with no remorse because he decides that stopping GLOW trumps all else. I’m under the impression (but no hard proof) that this is also what happened with the crime he committed that Cody took the fall for, but the game doesn’t go into detail about that specific very much :frowning: I need to re-watch that scene again to make sure, though.

That’s cool about the boxing posters. They didn’t look anything like any of the SF characters, lol. Guess those particular posters can be chalked up to just being easter eggs, then. The Haggar mayorship poster on the other hand does’t seem like a cut-and-paste job like the boxing posters at all. Cool.

apropos…

in SFA3max

Guy vs Balrog

Guy does his nomal entry, kicking a barrel towards Balrog who punches it back.

any other news?

So is there any sign of Guy being married to Rena in FF Streetwise like Sfdevotion said?
