Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Sober-ish now lollerskates!

When I got my Ingrid sketch from Omar Dogan I brought the US CFE strat guide and the Arnold Tsang Ryu/Ingrid Arcadia cover that he could use for reference. He mainly used the Arcadia cover, this was his first time drawing Ingrid and he nailed it! While he was drawing her Erik Ko kept yelling that he had to make her cute and sexy and both of them laughed at this injoke. Erik Ko (Udoneko) explained this to me, told me that Ishizawa was the one that created Ingrid, not Senri Kita like I previously thought since she was the one who drew her for Capcom Fighting All Stars(and Shinkiro drew her for CFE as you know, in the interview in the SF comic Shinkiro said that he still has not created any original characters for Capcom BTW. Not too sure who provided artwork for her in SFA3 Max without guestimates, prolly Edayan, Ikeno or other). Anyway, when Arnold Tsang was drawing the Arcadia cover Ishizawa kept rejecting it telling Tsang to redraw her face a number of times before it finally got his approval. He kept telling Studio Udon to make her look ā€œCute and sexy!ā€ And of course Studio Udon was like, ā€œwhat the Hell does that mean?ā€

Latest update of the plotguide. I figure I should update it before Streetwise comes out so I don’t have to worry about including Alpha MAX AND Streetwise in the same update, which would have been hell. I think I managed to catch all the stuff in this thread and from my e-mails in this update. I also put what little known Streetwise story info is known so far in there. Hmm… not much else to say. I’m going out on a limb and stating my guess for Streetwise’s date to be 2006. Besides the whole tradition of Capcom having Final Fight games take place during their release dates (to this day, FF1 is stated in the games to take place in 1989 instead of the more fitting 1987), there’s also Cammy’s apparent age in the game. She looks too old in that print of her that the artist is selling on his site for it to take place so shortly after SF2, I think.

scans.

Of course! My NY Comic Con sketches -

Chun-Li from Omar Dogan:

Ingrid from Omar Dogan:

TiamatRoar - Cool beans! Can’t wait to read through the new plot guide update!

Ingrid telling Rose not to worry about M.Bison(cape) after she defeats him was my mistake, due to the speed of how fast the ending went. After she beats him in the Psycho Drive they show Rose that’s in the final stage of the game by herself who just wonders who Ingrid was, then they go back to Ingrid who’s in the Psycho Drive as she takes the big statue away. Course I know you where pretty much joking with her Plot Guide entry, as much or even more than Capcom prolly was lol!

Any thoughts on placing Ingrid on the Tier List? I’d group her at the very least at Rose’s level, with her being kind of a Goddess and all. Course there’s not much official information on her for a ranking I would think, perhaps on a hinted status? And yeah her ā€˜time jump’ if it happened at all would still make Chun-Li the strongest woman during SF2/SF3 conveniently lollercoaster!

Aw drat. I liked the whole ā€œIngrid tells Rose not to worry, Rose worries anywaysā€ irony of my whole semi-joke summary. Ah well.

If I had to guess, I’d say that Ingrid’s tier would be around Rose’s in Alpha 3 (limited supernatural ability) and then god-tier beyond that due to literally being a goddess (assumedly she regained full strength after she got her power back). I’d hesitate to place her above the rest of the god-tier, though. If Bison was able to steal Psycho Power from her before, she can’t be 100% invincible even as a goddess (in fact, that really only gives support that she’d be right around that tier, given that Psycho Power SFA3 pre-weakening Bison is generally assumed to be around that tier as well).

Of course, that’s assuming anything about Ingrid is taken seriously in the first place :stuck_out_tongue:

From skimming over Akuma’s section, a source reference you forgot to change. S’alright though, there’s plenty more additions (and more copy+paste) to come.

Which reference is it? I’ll probably have to make a ton of corrections. Always do :stuck_out_tongue:

Great answer!

The account of Gouken telling young Ryu and Ken about the power of hadou, like the account of Goutetsu fighting Gouki which at the end says ā€œfor Goutetsu, already a breath of retirement,ā€ is from SF2 Himitsu Hyakka, not AASFZ. Haven’t completely cracked through those texts yet.

I hope to bring out the Shadoloo map later this week, followed by the SF2 stage narratives. A long and ongoing process this is, but I’m not quitting. vasili10 ganbaru!

what site? where can i get those pictures of the new FInal FIght characters?

thanks in advance!:lovin:

Oh, whoops. Here.

The ones on the lower right are all official Streetwise art, I believe. Haggar seems really old, too, now.

I don’t have scans of the promotional comic sadly but you can find a link to some of them I posted in that last page (Poison, Sodom, Andore, Cammy, various others)

It doesn’t seem like the generic enemies are getting unique names this time around, sadly (ā€œAngry Schoolgirlā€ being one example, although in-game there’s also Hitman and other generic titles for generic enemies, I think). A shame, really.

does anyone have got the scans of the promo comic and would be so nice at least post the last pages with all the characters???

PLEASE!

Posted by Gekiganger V at MMcafe. The page with Sodom has more random SW chars on it (new ones) but I didn’t find any good scans of that. Ditto for scans of the comic itself. You can see them at the link I posted a page ago, though. There’s also more pages than that but those are the only online scans I’ve found so far (I don’t have the comic, myself, either)

FF Streetwise is in stores now. Picking up a copy soon. Can’t wait! It’s time to find out what Capcom USA is smoking this year.

Shooting for a PS2 version (better joystick) but PS2 versions of games tend to sell out really quick, if not I’ll get the Xbox version which will probably look better.

I agree about the Cammy pic but then in all US SF and FF art the characters look very old (ie SSFIITurbo).
sano, awesome scans thanks!

I don’t think Cammy’s SF2 official arts look very old, myself, though (although I don’t recall any US SF2 art of her). I mean, here in Streetwise you can actually see ridges on her (which isn’t just artistic style given that Vanessa doesn’t have any of those, I think). Vrinkles! …yea, you can compare Cammy to Vanessa (who probably is at the very least an adult given that she runs a bar by herself) and Cammy looks decidedly older, I think.

At the very least, odds are pretty much guaranteed that it happened after SF2 (I find it doubtful that Cammy would be wasting time going to Metro City to kick butt in between Alpha 3 and SF2, where she’d likely be a bit more preoccupied by simply trying to get accustomed to her post amnesia life. Also, Haggar lost or left the mayorship 2 years after SFA3 or so, and SF2 is only 1 year after that, blah blah blah…). Any further than that is mostly just educated guesswork.

Aerialgroove - Sure thing!

Got the game, PS2 version! The store by me only ordered 2 copies (as opposed to the usual 5…) don’t think they expect it to do so well… can’t play it until I get home…

Of what I can tell, Cammy’s a Pit Fighter, you have to beat her to move up in ranks. Odd… Cammy doesn’t strike me as the addicted to fighting type to compete in these tournies, maybe she’s undercover…

You can unlock the original Final Fight. What a… strange unlockable… seeing as you can play FF1 on the GBA and both the Xbox, PS2 and PSP versions of CCC… wha…

There’s 2 player co-op in Arcade mode.

Didn’t notice any familiar voice actors in the booklet. Well, Cammy gets a new voice in every game anyway.

I didn’t know RZA had a track in this! There’s a crap load of music in this, gotta be like 20-30 songs with artists like Slipnote in it. You can buy these songs at a store in the game and listen to them whenever.

One of the power ups is a soda can called ā€œCapcola.ā€

Will play it and give an early review of it, course any reviews from me come with a Capcom Fanboy slant - ā€œCammy’s in it! It’s the greatest game ever!ā€ Sorry… I enjoyed FF Revenge too, it was so bad I laughed my Ass off, I’m expecting that kind of thrill here at best.

Just to mention, Cammy was ā€œbornā€ in 1975 just like me, she’d be 30 or 31 now depending on the month she was born. Why would she have wrinkles at that age if this game takes place in 2006? Can it be, maybe it takes place further in the future… like 201X… where’s Ingrid and Monk Ryu? I fully expect to see Ryu in a pimp suit and Ingrid as one of his prostitutes… Sorry, couldn’t resist…

I don’t think she has wrinkles. Just ā€˜ridges’. Around the nose. These normally don’t depict age so much as drawing style, although the fact that she has them while Vanessa doesn’t does make Cammy look older to me…

Cammy being a pitfighter seems… odd. Obscenely so. :open_mouth:

Cammy was born January 1st, so she’d generally be the maximum age possible no matter what exact month and day a game takes place.

Crap, they only ordered two? Cripes. Stupid busy season makes it near impossible for me to find time to buy. I probably should have reserved. Meep

Yeah, this was at EB Games by me, they usually under order stuff like this, at the very least this branch of EB. Usually I go to J&L in Chinatown and can get any game on day one, day seven, 3 weeks later. So look around when you can I suppose. DMC3 SE, Beatdowns, Sam Sho V, Dragon Quest VIII, all of these games where difficult to track down at the big gaming stores in the beginning, - EB/Gamestop, either everybody or nobody wants them, means very few copies…

If all else fails you can get it from Capcom’s website without too many problems…
