Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Eagle will probably use Birdie’s England background.

sano, why would you do that? It’s just speculation on my part.

Ah, okay.

Here’s a page from AASFZ3 that TS asked me to put up.

Yeah it’s about standing attacks and standing attacks up close. In general for V-ism characters, regardless of close your opponent is to you, the default (Z-ism and usually X-ism too) standing attack comes out with the punch/kick plus the joypad/joystick either in neutral or towards directions, and the default up-close standing attack comes out with punch/kick plus holding back from your opponent.
The note points out an exception for Rose: if the opponent gets close to her, only the up-close attacks come out regardless of the direction pressed; hence her “far-away” attacks only come out when she’s far away from her opponent, but “up-close” attacks can come out at any distance.

Well I faced Ingrid, she was at Dan’s stage, the Saikyo Dojo no less!

Thing is in this scenario I had already faced Rose in the Italy stage though, I wonder if Ingrid just pops out anywhere or if she does really just appear in Dan’s stage. Ah well, let’s see if I face her again in arcade mode what happens.

Maki’s story -

Side note - In one of Maki’s generic quotes she says that she’s waiting to fight her “Runner Up.” She does seem to believe that she is in fact better than Guy, or is at least very confident.

For her mid boss battle she faces Sakura. Sakura says something like “So this is my next opponent. I wonder if she’s one of those female gangsters? That’s a big weapon she has!” and Maki says there’s nothing wrong with using a weapon and they fight. (Sakura calling Maki a female gangster reminds me of their fight in the Sakura Ganbaru! manga).

After the fight Maki compliments Sakura on her fighting skills. Sakura compliments Maki too and says that she fights just like someone she fought before, Guy. Maki asks if she knows where Guy is, and Sakura says that he’s… yeah, she only answers with “…” but you know where he is, same place where all of those 9th round battles take place in SFA3.

Maki runs into Guy, says “You… are Maki.” Maki says enough chit chatting, it’s time to see who is the true succesor of the Bushin style. Guy tells her beating her means nothing to Guy, it’s to be expected that he’d win.

This fight seems like it had no clear resolution, as at the end of it they pick up their conversation right where they left of. Maki asks why Guy thinks his victory is expected. Guy tells her that he can not lose when Evil is afoot. So Maki sets out to stop the evil herself, telling Guy next time they’ll meet they’ll settle this.

Maki faces M.Bison. M.Bison refers to her as a mind full of memories challenging him. Maki says she has to defeat M.Bison. M.Bison says that this will be a good fight after “the parade of weaklings” he’s beaten just now.

After Maki wins, M.Bison is stumbling saying he wasn’t ready and that he underestimated Maki because she was a little girl. Maki didn’t think M.Bison was all that for someone who is supposed to be Evil Incarnate. He fires a Psycho Shot projectile at Maki, and she seems stunned, frozen in place. He comes at her with a Psycho Crusher. Guy gets in the way and defeats M.Bison with his Level 3 Super Art, the one where the screen turns white and his black sillohuette dishes out damage. While M.Bison is blowing up he questions what is this Bushin style.

Maki doesn’t seem to thrilled that Guy saved her, says he got in the way of their fight. But after some griping she thanks him, and says that they will settle their match next time. Guy runs off. Alone Maki admits that Guy was stronger than she is this time but that won’t be the case next time. She boldly declares that next time they meet Maki will win and she will be the next succesor of Bushin.

I’ll do Eagle’s story tomorrow. For some reason, Evil Ryu is grouped together with Eagle, Maki and Ingrid in the booklet as the last four characters, as if these four where the new characters in the game. I’ll check out Evil Ryu’s story just to see if it’s different on Sunday. If it’s the same I won’t say nothing, and will go into Tag Team and Reverse battle mode to make my Ryu and Chun-Li Xism teams of course.

Saikyo Dojo? Does Dan have a brand new stage in Alpha 3 Max?

Ah, thanks…but…I don’t think that’s actually true…? Maybe just in the Japanese version, or maybe in the beta or something…but I’m pretty sure that’s not right. Ah, well.

What Guy sas to Maki tickles me for some reason. “Beating you would mean NOTHING, as I’m OBVIOUSLY better than you, so…yeah, you should probably go make a pie or go watch Oprah or something. There’s MAN BUSINESS to be done.”

(…not an actual translation)

My mistake! It’s E.Honda’s stage. Man haven’t played SFA3 in years…

Final Fight Streetwise official site. Did I post this yet? I forget. Guy’s latest character development was… unexpected, that’s for sure (to the point of almost being nonsensical when you consider how “higher purpose” Guy and his Bushin was portrayed as in Alpha)

Course, I’ve been under the impression for quite a while now that the FFStreetwise team was only really thinking about Final Fight One and nothing else (including 2, 3, and the Alphas) when making this game. …well, and Final Fight REVENGE, ironically speaking (Guy’s bio mentions a crime that Cody committed, which may be referring to Final Fight Revenge). Which I suppose makes sense, since this is the same team and all. Actually, Guy falling from grace isn’t surprising in that respect, either, given his FFRevenge ending…

It says “After Cody Travers was accused of a crime that Guy took part in,” so it has to be a different crime than the one Cody got arrested for in FFR since Guy had nothing to do with that, ditto for Cody’s SFZ crime of beating people up.

Don’t worry though, Maki is coming to kick his Ass.

Eagle’s story -

The only generic quote that he has that sounds even remotely homosexual is where he says something like, “How discouraging, what a messy ending.”

His mid boss is Guile. Eagle recognizes Guile as a famous Air Force man and asks him if he wants to dance with him, lol! Guile says that he is on a mission and has no time to fight Eagle. Eagle points out that Guile has already assumed his fighting stance. Guile says to Eagle that if he doesn’t want to listen to what he says, then they’ll have to fight.

After the fight Eagle notices that there was a lot of tension during their battle and thanks Guile. He asks what exactly was Guile’s mission. Guile says that he is after Sagat who has joined a Narcotics Ring. Eagle questions, “Sagat? How long has it been since I heard that name?” and says that he will try to find Sagat too.

Eagle runs into Sagat for his pre-M.Bison fight. He says to Sagat that it’s been a long time and Sagat has the same intense stare from before. He says that Sagat has always been someone else’s goon. Sagat questions what he is talking about and Eagle challenges him, and says he wants to see if Sagat is still the King of Muay Thai.

There is no dialog after you defeat Sagat.

You don’t face M.Bison yet! Balrog(Boxer) appears in front of you with M.Bison hovering in the air. M.Bison asks if Eagle was the one that defeated Sagat. M.Bison then says that Sagat is no king after all and good bodyguards are hard to find these days. Eagle calls M.Bison a “loon bent on World Domination.” He says that M.Bison is beneath him. M.Bison says that Eagle is trash to him and asks Balrog to finish him off.

After you defeat Balrog you face M.Bison. Guile comes up from behind Eagle and says that he is going to defeat M.Bison. Eagle asks Guile to step off so he can fight M.Bison and see how strong he is. M.Bison doesn’t care about the order of who fights him first, says something like “step up fools and get beat down,” something to that effect.

After you defeat him M.Bison calls himself an idiot not understanding how he could lose to someone like Eagle. Guile congratulates Eagle and apologizes for thinking that Eagle was in his way before. Eagle accepts his apology and Guile asks Eagle to help him with one more mission, to help save his friend Charlie who is in captivity. So they head over to M.Bison’s base and see Charlie in the Psycho drive. Next thing you know, like you’ve seen before that statue in Thailand’s stage exposes it’s robot face, stands up and sends a beam of light purple energy into the sky. The energy hits M.Bison where he was lying on the ground after Eagle beat him. The energy wakes M.Bison up. Guile asks Eagle for one more favor, to help him destroy the Psycho Drive. Eagle spins around (like his CVS2 intro with Zangief) and destroys the main computer, his last move is he holds one of his escrima sticks up into the air. Green Energy than comes out of the base, this green energy hits M.Bison and he blows up. Later Guile, Charlie and Eagle meet in the final stage where M.Bison was, at Point 48106. They bid their farewells and Eagle says they have to party again sometime. Eagle reflects on his joyous adventure.

I faced Ingrid again in arcade mode. This time she appeared in the Spain stage. Seems like she just appears wherever.

Zangief and Eagle retain their CVS2 intro.

Wow, Eagle and Maki were… dissappointingly uneventful and pointless (Yun’s wasn’t the most eventful either, but Yun in SFA3 doesn’t make any sense anyways so that doesn’t matter). I mean, sure, characters like Zangief’s storyline in SFA3 didn’t have much of a point either but Zangief was traditionally about the comedy, anyways. Eagle’s and Maki’s weren’t even that funny and did nothing whatsoever to really offer any significant introspective or character development or resolving of any plotlines (not that Eagle had anything to resolve in the first place but Maki’s plot didn’t go anywhere. Even Karin’s where she admitted Sakura was better at least signaled the end and reconciliation of their rivalry, unlike Maki’s which is still there).

Of course, then ironically on the other end of that spectrum we had Ingrid… :looney: Which was practically Capcom screaming, “See? Ingrid now has a point to being in a Street Fighter game and we’re shoving it down your throat!”

‘crime Guy took part in’.

I wonder…

Would Guy’s role in saving Metro City so many times viewed as a ‘crime’?

Well if the police is Edi E., it could.

I think Eagle should be in Cammy’s SFA3 stage, that would fit better.

PS: has Zangief his new head-animation from CFE?

Zangief’s not puffing smoke like he is in CFE if that’s what you mean.

Thanks for the info Martinitolove! I think I can set those match ups up in Free Battle mode, maybe the intros will come out there. For now I want to check out Ingrid and Blanka and see if that works…

YES IT DOES! Blanka and Ingrid’s intro is too funny. He’s going to eat bananas on the floor, Ingrid takes them away from him, and then she tosses it up to him like one of her projectiles and he swallows the bananas whole in one gulp!

Evil Ryu’s story is the same as the console versions, odd that the booklet placed him with the other 4 characters though.

I faced Ingrid again, this time in Sodom’s stage. After I lost the first time I rematched her and she was in T.Hawk’s stage. Sort of nice that she doesn’t have a background and just randomly moves around, kind of like she really is from “Heaven” or what have you.

Still haven’t faced Eagle in Arcade mode yet. Well, still gonna play the Arcade Mode with Ryu and Chun-Li before I go ape on the other modes.

I love this game BTW!
