Yo Tiamat, have you noticed any of the cameos yet? You can see Balrog in the audience at Kimala’s arena and Zangief in Aleksey’s Arena. There are probably more. BWA does illegal fighting? I don’t know 'bout that.
Btw, where’s Saiki? He hasn’t posted here in a while. I sent him a PM, but he hasn’t responded yet.
Wow, really? I still wonder if Aleksey really does know Zangief or if that win quote was something Capcom added in. Dunno how much to give weight to those cameos, but that’s interesting either way.
I -think- I saw Lee in the Asian Mafia stage (argh, I still forget which stage it was!). Or at least… someone that looked a lot like him. He’s to the left of the really fat big guy in the center.
Balrog in Kimala’s stage, huh? Come to think of it, Kimala IS the showcase kind of guy that I believe is affiliated with things like casinos like Balrog is… is rambling quite randomly
Maybe ‘ethically questionable’ would be a better term for it, since even in real wrestling there’s stuff like hitting with chairs and stuff that’s generally wrong but you can get away with if you play your cards right (course, the real world wrestling is also an act but eh… gotta twist things in, somewhere, I guess )
Yeah, ethically questionable does make more sense. On a side note, I’m really curious as to what’s written on those Jap. Muscle Bomber 2 arcade Flyers. It looks to me like there’s a lot of storyline info.
Btw, doesn’t it seem sort of strange how the Muscle Bomber series takes place pretty long before FF1 and Jessica doesn’t look any younger in it? Just a thought. I wonder why a picture of her is in one of those MB2 flyer pages.
Can anyone get confirmation that the Bentstuff books are official? A friend asked Capcom USA and got the reply that those books don’t exist, and now he doesn’t believe me at all.
Can anyone get the official word from Capcom Japan? Saiki?
They don’t exist? Stupid Capcom USA. Ofcourse they do. Here’s some proof for your friend. It’s an ad for “Head-to-Head Fighting Games 1987-2000”. Here ya go:
Here’s a list of all of Sodom’s quotes where he is trying to sound Japanese. This is from the SFA2 Strategy Guide from Vs. Books. Can anyone tell me what he’s trying to say? The book tells me that “DIE JOB DEATH CAR” means "Daijobu Desuka " which means “are you all right?” How about the rest?
GO CLACK, JAW BOOT!
DO MORE SWIM A SEND!
GO SHOES SHOW SUMMER!
OH, ME GO TOO!
YOU’LL SAME A SEND!
DIE GET KEY, DO!
FOOL INK A THAN!
NEVER, NEVER NOT, OH!
SORRY DIE ZING!
SHOW GUN I DEATH!
DIE JOB DEATH CAR?
SHOW SEA SEND BANG!
UP A RAY!!
OH, AT EARLY!!
WHAT SOME BEAT?
SHOW BY HUNG JAW!
OH, JASMINE NURSE I!
DIE OH, JOE!
IT’S TOE SHOW!
MAYDIE TIE!
MOVE YOUR SOCKS I!
OH, BACK A SON!
DIE BACK SHOE!
WHIP I DO!
The guide also recommends -
“ENJOY! And Please, please try to incorporate these saying into daily conversation. Your life will be so much better.”
It is difficult to express words of condelence to bereaved family members saddened by death. The phrase “Konotabi wa goshushosama desu”(Please accept my sincere sympathy in your sad bereavement) is most commonly used. The closer one was to the deceased, the more awkward it becomes to extend condolence. Just say a few words and mourn.
OKay then. Continuing:
DIE GET KEY, DO! = Daigekidou (???)
FOOL INK A THAN! = Furinkazan (Something slash?)
SHOW GUN I DEATH! = Sou ja nai desu (“It’s not so”), I think
DIE JOB DEATH CAR? = Daijoudesuka ("Are you all right?), as already explained
MAYDIE TIE! = Medetai (it’s complicated, look it up at http://lucy.ukc.ac.uk/csacpub/Mono19/Html/wrapped_gifts-2_a-4.html)
Tiamatroar - Just read the “Sakura Ganbaru!” Manga site you listed a while looking on with the Manga! Mad props for that! Man, it kicked ass! Are there any other translations on the Net that you know of for Masahiko Nakahira’s other two Mangas - “Street Fighter Zero” and “Ryu Final?”
Street Fighter Zero? I think only one volume was summarized (not even translated :() from the mailing list, but for some reason I have that, too (honestly don’t know why I saved it to my comp. Guess it was a just-in-case thing)
No Ryu Final, though
Come to think of it, I wonder if Chun-Li being friends with Sakura was taken from this manga, too. But… there are a lot of events in this manga that obviously aren’t canon and Sakura and Chun-Li being friends comes about because of an event like one of those so can’t just assume things, I suppose…
On another random note, Saiki posted at Gamefaqs recently, so he’s still around
TiamatRoar - Cool! Half of Zero is better than Zero of Zero!
Hmmm… if the “Sakura Ganbaru!” Manga is the inspiration for Sakura and Chun-Li being friends, maybe that unofficial Manga can help us flesh out what happened officially. Perhaps while Sakura was looking for Ryu, she met Chun-Li in SFA2 or SFA3 who took a break from her investigation to help Sakura look for Ryu since Chun-Li’s one of Ryu’s friends, like the Manga. Of course, somethings in the Manga that happened during Sakura and Chun-Li’s meeting can not be official, like Sakura naming Cammy and Sakura almost defeating Gen and doing a better job against Gen than Chun-Li did. Not to mention, that they met in an underground fighting ring in Kowloon? Sounds kind of like the SF2V Anime… oh well, the Manga still rocks!
you know that guy in the beginning of hugo’s TS ending? is he an old capcom character form one of these wrestling games you’re talking about, or is he just some guy?
Assuming Capcom of USA didn’t butcher Eagle’s CvS2 ending (which maybe they didn’t, since, like lots of things regarding Eagle, I think it mainly focuses on his flaming homosexuality, it seems. Methinks Capcom hammered that theme for him in CvS2 home a weeeee bit much :bluu: )
Taken from the CvS2 quotes ending FAQ at gamefaqs.com
Eagle:
Before the battle with Shin Gouki/God Rugal
“Hmm…It’s good. It’s so very good. I can’t wait for this!”
Ending
Eagle couldn’t find someone he felt was good enough…
Some were big and some were strong, but none excited him.
He sighs, “Maybe I need to get closer to these people…”
"Eagle couldn’t find someone he felt was good enough…"
Good enough to/for what?
"Maybe I need to get closer to these people…"
What does he mean by that?
Something tells me he wasn’t talking 'bout looking for a challenge.
On a separate note, I think there are voice actors in the Japanese version of Slammasters 2. It’s pretty cool.
Btw I brought this up on the last page, but I don’t think many people saw it. Doesn’t it seem sort of strange how the Muscle Bomber series takes place pretty long before FF1 and Jessica doesn’t look any younger in it? Just a thought. I wonder why a picture of her is in one of those MB2 flyer pages.
Did Retsu witness the fight between Gouki & Gouken? Also, didn’t someone say Ken challenged/fought Gouki right after seeing him murder Gouken?
I don’t know if Capcom ever gave an exact length of time, but I believe that it was for around 10 years. Btw, Ryu was 23 during SF1, so I guess that they were around 12 when they started their training.
I believe that both Retsu and Gouken’s daughter were around when Gouki paid his brother a visit. Ken arrived towards the end of the fight and witnessed Gouken’s death. Saiki said that he found a line from the Japanese version of 2i that might relate to the situation. Gouki asks Ken to make his fist burn again (something like that). Anyway, the only time that Gouki and Ken would have met was back during SF1 when they were at Gouken’s dojo. One could surmise that Ken may have attacked Gouki after he saw him kill Gouken.

I’ve scanned the image of Birdie and Titanic Tim from the SFA2 Strategy Guide from Versus Books. I sent a copy to Seig, so hopefully he’ll put it on his site when he gets the chance. I’ve also sent a copy to TiamatRoar because he’s the Plot Faqer and no one needs it more!
I also sent the drawing of young Gangstas Guy and Ryu that I mentioned before.
Anyway, if anyone wishes to see these images now, either list your e-mail address here, or send it to me at -
