By the way, is there a faq that tells every fighter’s data in CVS1 Bison’e stage?
Yo, TIAMAT
The FF1 & FF2 Instruction booklets both state that Haggar was a former wrestler and a champion street fighter.
By the way, u read the AV translation I posted, right? Like I said from the beginning, I don’t know how reliable this site is, but it’s from a Japanese fan who seems to know his stuff as far as profiles/stats go and everything, Plus, the guy/translation DID state that the series took place in the 80’s. Not that it really matters, but do you think it’s safe to assume the info’s legit? Personally, I find it pretty believable.
Sieg & Sano
Shit you guys sure know yer stuff. Personally I always thought Tai Chi was a meditation excercise lke Yoga, so I was a little surprised when Saiki listed her fighting style as Tai Chi. I never knew it was a form of Kung-Fu. Plus, according to what sano says 'bout Chinese Kempo being closer to Karate than Kung-Fu, it does’t sound completely correct to label Yun/Yang’s fighting style as that.
None that I know of. But I did jot down all the fighting styles from the character profiles listed on the terminal. This was originally for a fanfic I’ve wanting to write but lost interest in, so here they are:
Capcom
Karate- Ryu, SnH Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Sakura
Kung Fu- Chun Li
Combat Tactics- Guile, Cammy
Yoga- Dhalsim
Beast- Blanka
Professional Wrestling- Zangief
Sumo Wrestling- E.Honda
Boxing- Balrog
Spanish Ninjutsu- Vega
Muay Thai- Sagat
Unknown- Bison, Morrigan
SNK
Kusanagi Kobujutsu- Kyo
Yagami Kobujutsu- Iori, RoB Iori
Martial Arts- Terry
Shiranui Ninjutst- Mai
Kyokugen Karate- Ryo, Yuri
Tae Kwon Do- Kim
Professional Wrestling- Raiden
Shoot Wrestling- Benimaru
Combat Tactics- Vice
Muay Thai- King
Kobujutsu- Geese
Original Karate- Yamazaki
Hybrid Martial Arts- Rugal
*Shikanna Kamui Sword- Nakoruru
I don’t have CvS Pro, so I’m guessing Dan’s style would be listed as “Saikyo Karate”, unless someone who does have the game would like to give us the accurate classification.
Joe’s has to be “Muay Thai”, but no duh!
I’m not surprised if Taichi was meant for both meditation and fighting. Capoeira, for example, is mostly about dancing, too.
Here’s a paragraph I got from a Japanese Super Muscle Bomber (Slammasters 2) arcade flyer:
“1 year has passed since the warm-up contest to decide who would enter the Team Battle Royal as Number One. With eyes set on the title of Master of Muscle Bomber, all contestants have been training even harder, honing their technique and practicing new deadly skills.”
From the looks of it, the game’s flyers have a lot of storyline info and character bios/stats, but I can’t read them 'cuz they’re in Japanese. On one of the Flyer Pages, there’s a picture of Jessica Haggar. For those interested, see for yourself:

Oh yeah, this particular page in the SFZ2 “Secret Files” arcade flyer caught my attention:

There are bios of both Rolento and Zangief and I think it might have Rolento’s age listed, but I don’t know Japanese, so ofcourse I can’t tell.
Man, we need some more Japanese-speaking ppl here.
Um-hum. Just checked out a flyer with the end bosses, and I gotta say Black Widow does have the shape of a woman.
Is it really that hard to tell if she’s a woman or not in the game?
It’s all about the garbled manly voice in the game. But yea, I assumed she was a woman from her official art without playing the game, which is why she was… well, listed as a she for such a long time.
The in-game sprite is damn hideous, too, and seems to have a man’s chest from what I could see…
Anyways, I see the numbers 30 and 40 in Rolento’s age at that bio. Does that mean he’s from age 30 to 40? I only see the number 30 in Zangief’s bio (Zangief is 32 during SFA2 by the way). Hmm…
Yea, I recall Haggar being a champion street fighter (whatever that is since SF1 didn’t happen yet) but not a champion wrestler. Weird.
Assuing Haggar being a wrestler for five years is right, yea, the 80’s should be correct. Ah, so Slammasters 2 is one year after Slammasters 1? I suspected as much
[EDIT]
Okay, I just beat the game with her. The man voice is on purpose, it seems. She DEFINATELY sounds like a man and you’re probably supposed to think she is one due to that, but when you beat the game with her, she takes off the costume to reveal that she’s a woman then laughs and has a women’s voice that’s completely different from her voice in her costume.
My guess is she’s supposed to be like Samus Aran (CWA doesn’t allow female wrestlers, I guess?). Because preliminary reports of Slammasters 2 just described Black Widow as “a mysterious long legged wrestler” without saying she was a she, so…
yeah man we need some japenese to translate those it’s pretty interesting
I got CVS Pro. It lists Dan’s style as Saikyo in Vega’s stage and it lists Joe’s style as Muay Thai. What’s strange is that it lists Dan’s country as Japan. Uhhh, isn’t he from Hong Kong? Oh well, he’s half Japanese and he probably lives in Japan now, I guess.
No I really think he is japanese!
Yeah, but only half. He really is from Hong Kong.
Random. Anyone know where Sean’s last name, Matsuda, came from?
Where it came from? Whatchu talkin’ 'bout!? It sounds Japanese and he’s half-japanese, right?
Since it’s likely that Sean takes the last name of his father, it would mean that he’s Japanese side also came from his father’s side.
Oh, just basically where his last name is stated. Someone e-mailed me asking where I got his last name from
I think someone told me it’s stated in one of those fan books, though I’m not exactly sure. I just 'member Saiki telling us.
It was from the SF FAQ that Saiki sent floating around before Tiamat made the Plot Canon Guide.
Then again, if you look at Scorp’s stage in SMB2…maybe the BWA is underground illegal fighting, and they’re assaulting the CWA because they feel that the CWA is too weak for a wrestling association…I mean, those BWA guys are fucking vicious. Rasta’s bite has nothing on Wraith’s serpent attack and Grater’s shoulders against Saber’s grenades…screw THAT!
Where does Scorp enter the picture? Do his taunt, and you will know.
pika?..
(denji?)
HUH!?
Scorpion’s taunt? Do you mean the electricity thing from Slammasters 1? is too lazy to go start up Mame again
Let’s see… list of probably illegal things in Slammasters. We’ll assume that chi attacks are legal.
CWA
Rasta Mon: Biting, having his monkey assist him. Though… the latter probably isn’t illegal since Jake the Snake in real wrestling and other such wrestlers would have their pets for show and stuff, too, even if not to the extent of Rasta’s. Rasta’s is probably just an exaggeration of that.
Grater: Hits you with feathers. While they do decent damage, overall, that’s probably not so bad since they’re just feathers, storyline-wise.
Those are the only remotely questionable CWA members that come to my mind.
BWA
Scorpion: Electricity (though I can’t think of any move where he uses it), teleports (I guess)
Jumbo Flap Jack: Poison breath and fire breath.
Rip Saber: Shovel and grenades.
Wraith: Snake, fire spirit, and… um, fingernails?
Ah, yea, overall, I guess the BWA does do the more illegal stuff.
Dagnabbit. My save state was during the battle with Ortega. Scorpion’s stage… was that the one with the mafia members in the background? No wait… maybe that was Oni or Wraith. Blarg…
