Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Just finish SMB with her and you’ll see it. She looks like an oversized Linn Kurosawa.

Oh yeah: BWA=nWo.

An old, baseless rumor. Pay no attnetion to it.

So Slammasters 2 is a straight one-on-one fighitng game?

I know this may sound stupid, but I 've never played SM before so spare me on this. There aren’t any chi-based attacks in this game, are there?

And what’s so important about the BWA being evil when the SM series has very little background history to it?

Just a thought.

Yea, Slammasters 2 is a straight one on one fighting game on a flat 2D field, unlike the first, which was a wrestling game on a multiple plane field complete with fighting outside of the ring, climbing the ropes, and two vs two battles.

Victor Ortega has a fireball attack and several characters have a glow in their specials so I guess that counts as chi. There aren’t many chi attacks though, but I think they’re there.

I try to get whatever details I can get my grubby hands on, no matter how small or trite they are. If it’s canon, then I want it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s the first paragraph of the plot translated w/ Alta Vista:

The professional wrestling boundary group proliferation age were entered from the eighties beginning, the large and various groups were born at the many places of the world and out, out, the origin repeatedly were. Eight groups which continued steady activity under the kind of circumstance tied the hand, formed one combination organization. That is the CWA (the CAPCOM WRESTLING ASSOCIATION).

Yeah, maybe the guy meant the 1980’s, after all.

Here’s the 2nd paragraph, which mentions the BWA:

The eighties. With unprecedented professional wrestling boom, the many professional wrestling group was flooded in the many places of the world, opened to contention and. Eight enormous groups, are settled in one under that kind of circumstance, the first champion which was called the " master * of * }bX{}[ ", as the combination organization " CWA " where BN^[ * Ortega leads. A certain day suddenly, Ortega you disappeared, designated him as the axis and again, the order which the is being disordered, entered the age of confusion. Multiply in that machine, the underground organizational BWA of the darkness (the BLOOD WRESTLING ASSOCIATION) starts moving. This way it is dangerous the CWA nerve center which it judges, in order that ’ the fighters of }bX{}[ = destiny ’ the new ace of the CWA is decided in theme, world tour holds the " crash * carnival ". The fighter of destiny, the gong which decides the master * of * }bX{}[ is sounded now, * & *.

Yeah well those are the 2 paragraphs. I’d like to hear your thoughts. Maybe we can make some sense out of them. I dunno. Peace out for now.

Why is everybody talking about slammasters?:lame:

Because it’s part of the SF canon. If you don’t like it, don’t say anything and let people discuss whatever they damn well please.

(Boy, the nerve of some people.)

Let me ask this a different way. What’s so evil about the BWA? What naughty things have they done besides raid on the CWA turf? The atmosphere is set in a wrestling circuit, so I can’t imagine anything more “evil” happening than interfering with a match and bashing someone over the head with a steel chair when the ref isn’t looking, so as to help one other BWA member win. god, that Smackdown is crazy

Don’t you know? On the 13th of every Friday, the unholy wrestling alliance gathers together and plots MEANFUL THINGS! Just LOOK at them! They just scream EVIL all over right in their faces! And their name? BLOOD wrestling association? That’s some hardcore EVIL right there, I tell you!

In all seriousness, I dunno. Underground and evil are two different things though, even if they usually go hand in hand. My best guess is that the BWA doesn’t play by the rules. Exactly WHAT rules, I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure bringing a shovel and hand grenades into the ring is breaking something. But… then again, it’s not like CWA wrestlers don’t have… questionable things. I don’t think you’re supposed to be allowed to shoot razor feathers off your feathered shoulder pads like Grater does, either :stuck_out_tongue: And of course, Rasta Mon bites, literally.

…gooo confusion?

Anyways, what I got from that Alta Vista translation was that there used to be eight wrestling groups, then wrestling experienced a boom and became very popular, so all eight groups merged to become the CWA, led by Victor Ortega. Then Victor Ortega eventually dissappeared (because he couldn’t find any good enough challengers for himself, it would appear) and after he did, the CWA descended into chaos for a bit since there was no more reigning champion. During this time, the underground Blood Wrestling Association of DARKNESS (EVIL!!!1), in the form of just Scorpion and Jumbo Flapjack, I guess, came out of the woodwork to take advantage of the chaos and take the championship and thus spotlight of wrestling from the CWA.

Can our heros stop their evil plot??? …okay, I added that last line

Anyways, apparently, judging by the ending to Slammasters, soon enough, Victor returned (apparently with a couple BWA members like Rip Saber tagging along, no doubt to help his BWA brothers in their EVIL scheme!) after seeing worthy battles and deciding to school everyone in how wrestling is really done, and we have Slammasters 2.

…wow, for a series with no storyline and no decent endings, there’s more backstory to this than I thought. Even if… rather strange (EVIL!!!).

You’re right, Grenade Falcon. That’s about as evil as wrestling gets, but remember that there are good guys and bad guys in wrestling as well. The BWA members are considered evil. The situation is similar to when the WCW invaded the WWF/WWE. Think of it that way.

Of course, there’s really no other way to think of it as. But then that would imply that the wrestling that goes on in SM2 is just as fake as what you see on the WWE (story-wise), making Haggar’s past accomplishments as a wrestling champ meaningless, right?

What they do to make all the glowing effects and Rip Saber’s grenade attacks look real, well, I don’t know. There are no fatalities in the game so that counts for something I believe.

Yo, if Yun/Yang’s fighting style is Chinese Kempo, then why do they always refer to it as Kung Fu in their win quotes? You can’t tell me that they’re all mistranslations. I’ll show you all their win quotes:

Yang

  1. Yang vs. Oro: “I don’t care if the opponent is young or a worthless old man, I never hold back my Kung Fu!”
  2. In His Ending: “Our Kung Fu is the world’s strongest!”

Yun
3. "Everyone expects the true Kung Fu master will win."
4. "I’ve shown you the best moves I’ve got…the best Kung Fu in the whole world!"
5. vs. Yang: "Don’t worry, Kung Fu will always triumph… My Kung Fu!"
6. "You look like a strong one. Care to try out my Kung Fu?"
7. Ken vs. Yun: "Your Kung Fu is improving, kid. You might become really good… Someday."
8. Ryu vs. Yang: "I hold the art of Chinese Kung-Fu in high regard. Excellent performance!"
9. Sean vs. Yun: "Chinese Kung Fu will never beat me! I won’t allow it!"
10. Sean vs. Yang: "Kung Fu is supposed to be the best, right?"
11. Yun vs. Ken: “The only true dragons are the followers of Chinese Kung-Fu!”

I think I’ve made my point.

Yea, I’ve been wondering about that, myself. Is Chinese Kempo a form of Chinese kung-fu? Or… sigh, I REALLY need to learn more about fighting styles, I guess. Damn, I’m ignorant

Maybe the BWA was doing a real takeover that wasn’t just acting? (Evil as they are! :P) …dunno how that works, either

Please clear up the dirt on Gen. I really want to know the truth about him and Yun and Yang and Lee. And Akuma implying that he is Akuma’s master in SFA2. (which is super UNLIKELY)

I really don’t think about Capcom creating A4. They stated that A3 is the last in the Alpha series, so I think that does it.

Please, please, put the answers on my Private Messages. The thread is damn long, I have a lot of trouble keeping up with it. You can post the answers, but as long as you give me answers on my Private Messages. That damn thing has nothing inside but cobwebs. . .

Unless it is all just an act, an underground wrestling association taking over another that’s better known to the public is impossible. You’d think that with the CWA, the place would be so heavily secured (Ha, now that I think about it, if D-Generation X was serious about taking over the WWF two years ago, they’d have been thrown in the slammer so damn fast that it’d have made their heads spin. )

Now, did Capcom actually say Haggar was a former wrestling champ? Because if they did, they’d have a lot of explaining to with SMB.

There’s also Ryu’s win-quotes to Yun in both SF3 and CvS2 where he complements him on his skills in Chinese Kung-Fu. He even complements Chun-Li for her Kung-Fu in CvS2 as well.

Hmm, do you suppose Chun-Li’s fighting style is the very same one as Yun and Yang’s?

That could be true, GF. After all, in SF2 Turbo’s Instruction booklet, it lists Chun-Li’s fighting style as Kung-Fu. On a side note, it lists Blanka’s fighting style as “Jungle”.

Yeah, that’s how it is in CvS1’s Shadaloo stage, except Blanka’s fighting style is listed as “Beast” in the data display.

I don’t think it was ever stated that Haggar was a former wrestling champion. Just that he was a former wrestler ^^

As far as I know, Taichi (what Chun-Li studies) is a form of Kung Fu, so it can be considered Kung Fu. Now, Chinese Kempo is confusing, at best. Every subtitled Martial Art Anime I’ve ever watched refers to Martial Arts as Kempo in Japanese. Is “Kempo” a Japanese way of saying Martial Arts? If so, than Chinese Kempo would translate into Chinese Martial Arts, and it wouldn’t be wrong to say the twins study “Chinese Kempo.”

On a side note - I’ve studied what we would call Chinese Kempo in the past. It is a lot closer to Karate than Kung Fu.

Of course, I’m not an expert on these subjects.

Let’s see… I’m no expert either, but I think kempo is the Chinese word for martial art. In any case, the “kem” is “ken” which means “fist”, just like in Japanese. Taichi is a form of kung fu, just like Shaolin kung fu is a variation of it. Karate was originally developed as a form of Okinawan kung fu as well.

The Japanese word for martial arts in general is “budo” or “bujutsu” which means way/technique of war.
