Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

So does All About Capcom cover all fighting games? Including Tech Romancer, Plasma Sword and Rival Schools?

All fighting games up to mid-2000, yes (so no CvS series, and you get Rival Schools but not Project Justice).

Seigfried - Thanks.

Yeah, The All About Books and Capcom Design Books are my top priorities. Don’t know if I’ll find them but I’ll try my best. At the very least, Capcom’s celebrating Rockman’s (Mega Man) 15th aniversary in Exhibit stores all throughout Japan, so I should find some cool Rockman junk!

Hey, thanks for the link, Golden Dragon^^

Okay, so far… played the ROM, haven’t beaten the game yet (ugh, playing with a keyboard = pain in the ass. Thank goodness for save state). Wow, I guess Black Widow IS a guy, judging by the voice. Hrm. Course, not like Capcom hasn’t done it before…

Believe me, Black Widow is a girl, I’ll screenshot the thing (if I find it) and I’ll post it here.

Then again, the sprites are so damn ugly in this game you wouldn’t notice.

I would like to know from where Raphael come from I mean his history in SC2 thanks

That… is one of the manliest voices I’ve ever heard on a female character. Maybe I need to turn up the volume more or something. All the voices sound so… garbled right now (but my volume is limited due to having a sleeping roommate. Ah… tomorrow, then :p).

I’m almost positive I’ve seen official statements that she’s a woman, but… it’s been a long time since I’ve paid attention to Slammasters after all :stuck_out_tongue: Again, I HOPE she is a she… Oo Even if… the chest doesn’t look right. She looked like a she in the one official art I saw of her a loooooong time ago when the game was being previewed by EGM…

On a side note, it IS kinda cool to hear the voices of the Slammasters characters since I’ve never heard them before, since the first one didn’t have any (or at least the SNES version). Some of the special moves in this game are pretty unique, but… overall, I still think it was stupid to make it a fighting game instead of a wrestling game :stuck_out_tongue:

Someone started a rumour on another board that there was a game in the works called Final Fight Wrestling for Gameboy Advance, but I doubt it. Why not just make Slammasters 3 if Capcom wanted to make a wrestling game that badly? :stuck_out_tongue:

[EDIT]

Hmm… after seeing Rip Saber, I’m pretty sure I remember seeing him in the ending to Slammasters 1 now that I think about it, so yea, it probably was him. Still dunno who the third person was, though.

Yeah, Black Widow is definately a girl - without the costume, she kind of reminds of Chyna from the WWF.

Ring of Destruction really is a pain in the ass game. I got to Ortega but there was no way I could beat him. I did, however, find a site that had all the character endings in a zip file so I downloaded that and watched all the endings. They’re actually kind of pathetic and all generic (it goes something like this):

  1. Character stands in the ring with two trophies by his side
  2. Text at bottom of screen says ā€œA new champion is born!ā€
  3. Text than goes on to say how great the champ is
  4. The character than has a line where they talk some trash
  5. They then show the character’s stats
  6. The End

:lame:

What got my attention though was with Haggar’s ending. I don’t know if it was a bad translation job by Capcom USA/Europe or what but in Haggar’s ending, the text ending goes like this:
ā€œA new champion is born!
It’s Mike Haggar, the only wrestler to serve as Mayor only to become an uncivil servant to those who oppose him!ā€

They talk about his term as Mayor in the past tense. So where does that leave Slammasters place in the timeline? Is it before or after the Final Fight series?! I’d like to know what was really said in the Japanese ending. This little blurp just throws the whole continuity out of whack.

Haggar’s ending also says he was born in New York, USA. I always thought he was born and bred in Metro City.

One last thing to point out (though I think most already know this little tidbit), the character designer for the slammasters series was Tetsuo Hara, the artist for the ā€˜Fist of the North Star’ manga.

Any time, Tiamtat.

GOLDEN HELL, I’d like to know what was said in the Jap. Ending, myself. I had the Japanese version/ROM of Slammasters 2, but I don’t know Japanese, so I didn’t know what was being said up until my character’s stats were shown.

No I didn’t know but this is pretty interesting!

Here’s a website with all the Slammasters. Yep, definitely looks like the Fist of the Northstar style. Since I’ve never seen the game, can anyone tell me who’s who?

http://www.total-arcade.net/smusclebomber/musclebomber2.asp

cool site!

The guys under the BWA heading are (from left to right):

  1. Jumbo ā€œFlapā€ Jack
  2. Sabre
  3. Wraith
  4. Scorpion

CWA wrestlers

  1. Biff Slamkovich
  2. Gunloc
  3. The Great Oni
  4. Titanic Tim
  5. Stingray
  6. Mike Haggar
  7. Alexander ā€œThe Graterā€
  8. King Rasta ā€œMonā€
  9. Black Widow
  10. Victor Ortega

Whoops! I just clicked on the picture and it links you to another page with all their names. Oh well

Sorry, that’s my mistake. Thanks though!

Wow, there’s a pic of Black Widow without her costume? Hmm… I -think- I might have seen it a loooooong time ago but I forget. I might just be remembering things, since it’s been such a long time

But… yea, I just beat the game with Titanic Tim (Goooo save state and setting it to easiest difficulty). The endings are generic, just like Slammasters 1.

Slammasters 1 also said that Haggar was the former Mayor, too. I’m chalking that up to a changed translation (not even a bad translation. A CHANGED translation). Capcom just changed so much with the English versions of Slammasters that they can’t be trusted at all with what little storyline they have, it seems. Just look at how characters’ entire country birthplaces were changed, as well as how win quotes and names were completely changed too (Example: Scorpion’s win quote, ā€œYou’ve stung a scorpion!ā€ is obviously different from whatever win quote he has in Japan, since his name in Japan is The Astro…). Either that, or it’s a retroactive change by Capcom but right now, I lean towards the former.

Heh, Rip Saber’s pretty cool. The Rolento of wrestling  Maybe he got into the BWA not because he’s cold-blooded evil like the others, but because he uses a shovel and hand grenades in wrestling? That’s gotta not exactly be the most ethical thing to do, I imagine

According to Saiki and the Jap. ā€œSlammastersā€ Instruction booklet, Haggar was in the middle of elections during the Slammasters/Muscle Bomber series and that he simply was born in America. Regardless of what is said in the Euro/American version and instruction booklet of ā€œSlammasters,ā€ I personally believe that Haggar was born in Metro City, because his bio in the US FF1 instruction booklet reads:

ā€œā€¦After spending 5 years on the professional wrestling circuit, Haggar has returned home and is currently Mayor of Metro City.ā€

According to what Saiki has told us, it seems that Haggar’s bio in the Jap. instruction bookley was much different than those of the other characters in SMB. for example, his age isn’t listed and it doesn’t state what City/State he was born in. Odd.

This is strange. I was just surfing the net and I found what looked like a Japanese Musclebomber message board. It’s either that or a news/updates section. One of the posts seems to be an in-depth explanation of SMB/SMB2’s plot. I gathered that much by translating it through the Alta Vista translator, but that translator sucks at translating Japanese. What I gathered was that the game took place in the year 1980, storyline-wise and that the BWA is an underground federation. I’m not sure how reliable this website is, but they seemed to get Sheep the Royal, Haggar, and Stringer’s stats/profiles correct and i’m talking 'bout their true stats, not those phony american ones. Anyways, here’s the link incase you know Japanese and would like to translate it:

http://game.2ch.net/retro/kako/1007/10074/1007472714.html

When you enter the site, you’ll notice how each post has a number next to it (on the left of it). For Haggar’s bio, go to post #128. Stinger’s bio is under post# 129. For Sheep’s bio, got to post# 215 (it’s the top one). The bio below his is SNK’s Raiden. I guess someone was comparing the 2. They look alike and are both from Australia. For the SMB/SMB2 plot, go to post #237. I wish more people here knew Japanese, 'cuz I’d like to get a better undestanding of the plot.

What age do you have to be in interpol? Because Chunli is 20 years old when she joins it

In real life, I believe you have to be at least 23 (or maybe 25) to get into Interpol.

Course, Street Fighter’s Interpol deviates from the real life one on a lot of various details…

BWA an underground federation seems to make sense. Those guys aren’t exactly supposed to be the most… couth of wrestlers, after all. 1980, though? If Haggar was in the wrestling circuit for 5 years before FF1, 1980 might be too early. But… then again, that 5 years thing WAS in the American FF1 booklet so not sure how trustworthy it is. Maybe he meant 1980’s instead of specifically 1980? Wow, didn’t realize Haggar was mayor for such a long time, since he was in the middle of elections during Slammasters.

Ah, to know Japanese… well, I’m taking a Japanese course in about a year, but that’s probably not going to help very much

It would make sense that the BWA is underground, I doubt someone like Saber would have joined it if it was on a takeover of the CWA.

Did you know that A4 is coming out this DEC or next year?
does anyone have a home page of A4
