Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

I was thumbing threw the SFA2 Strategy Guide when I noticed something. On page 37 there’s a very cartoony drawing of Guy with the same two Kanji on his back that are on his SFA clothes. He’s kneeling down in front of the Sonson store from SFA1. He is spitting with his eyes clothes saying “Hmph.” Next to him is white headbanded Ryu kneeling down asking Guy “What the heck are you looking at?” There’s also a lady inside the store who’s wearing a “Foot Locker” type shirt who looks worried. The bottom of the drawing reads, “Young Gangstas Guy & Ryu.” What does this mean? Is this young undisciplined thug Guy (Maybe new to Bushin?) trying to rob the store and bringing naive Ryu along? I mean, it’s drawn in such a cartoony way that I doubt there’s anything official about it, but Guy and Ryu are together so it may or may not reinforce the fact that they are friends, I think.

You’re explanation on why Gen’s Martrial Art is called Ansatsuken since it’s so different from Gouki’s is the best I’ve ever heard! Now for a quick question -

  1. I always assumed that Gotetsu was Gouki and Gouken’s father, which is why he tought them. But are they just two students he decided to train? Is their any reason why two pupils are taught at the same time? I mean, I know Gouken also trained Dan, but that was at a different time and only for a little while. I don’t know if he trained his daughter along side Ryu and Ken either.

Yeah, her “womanly” sprite looks like Wonder Woman.

About Titan and Haggar being pains in the ass. Yes, YES THEY ARE!

Ortega’s history can be pieced together as : He owned the CWA, went away for a while because nobody could beat him, then came back to see better challengers.

Although I don’t think you can trust Gunloc’s info for his town, since it lists it as “Slam Town, USA”

The thing about training two students.

It is believed that if only one student is trained then he might (the one student) might become to obsessed with power, so another student is trained as well, to offset the other student so that they will not take up the SnH.

Of course this method dosnt seem to work, cause Akuma turned bad, and Ryu also struggled with the temptation of the SnH.

Note this is only something I heard from an SF site.

The theroy seems to make sense, but not in the case of SF, which is how the site tried to explain it.

The ‘real’ reason is a lot more practical.

Two students can spar against each other and raise each other’s skill level a lot quicker.

I’d hope that Black Widow is a woman  One Poison (actually two, including Roxy) is enough! :stuck_out_tongue:

Oooo, that’s Ortega’s history? Keen. Ah… yea, I need to get the ROM and beat it (goooo save state? Saving in the middle of battle is our friend). Maybe the upcoming weekend.

Yea, I wondered if SMB2 replaced SMB1 also, but… it’s not like it really matters much I think since SMB1 doesn’t have much going on. Though SMB1 happening would make sense seeing Ortega’s history, since that basically meant that Scorpion was reigning champion while Ortega was gone.

Heh, you can’t trust ANY of the bio infoin the US version :stuck_out_tongue: I put them into the plot guide just so people could check them out and like, laugh at them or so. Capcom America went around and changed entire countries for birthplaces, and the personal profiles involve puns on the American names which wouldn’t work for the Japanese names the characters had (which also differ very qreatly from the American names in most respects).

…blarg, cursed Capcom of America.

Sano: Hey man, thanks for the compliment. I just glad that my definitions make sense to people other than myself.

AFAIK, there is no blood relation between Goutetsu and his two students. In fact, I’m almost positive that there isn’t. I’ve never even seen a shred of evidence that even hints at it. I’m also pretty sure that Saiki would have mentioned it to me or on this thread. Of course, Capcom could always just pull it out of their butts like they have so many times before, but I’ll wait to hear it or see it for myself before I even care about it. As of now, it doesn’t really matter whether they are related or not. Also, I tend to think that Gouken’s kid recieved most of her training on the side, but details are soooo incredibly vague, that there really isn’t any way to know.

TAS: I don’t know what kind of damage setting you play on, but I seem to recall the move doing about 65-75% damage on most games. Of couse, I haven’t played with Akuma in a while so my memory could be a little fuzzy. It’s still an effective super, especially in 3s.

I don’t know who came up with that theory but it’s complete BS. There isn’t much of a history of SnH mainly because Ansatsu-ken hasn’t been around for that long (Ryu and Ken are 3rd generation practioners), so nobody would really even think about it. I also don’t see anyway that having two students would prevent SnH anyway (it didn’t for Ryu). Having two students could actually increase the occurance of SnH because it could foster a rivalry between the two students. If one student obsessively wants to be superior to the other (sounds familiar) then he has already been put into a very dangerous mindset. The real reason is to hone the students skills in a battle like situation. Sparring is much more effective than just practicing by yourself. Experience is the best teacher.

Hcparker: I was pretty sure that it wasn’t a special, but I could be wrong. I’ll try and double check tomorrow. Also, I had forgotton about Sean’s 2i ending. Ryu continued to repulse his attacks with barely any effort.

Is the guy in Kens 3s ending Balrog? because he has the gloves, the hair, the muscles…

Hey SANO, were you referring to the Strategy guide with the pic of Birdie & Titanic Tim? If so, hook us up w/ a scan when u get the chance…If you have a scanner, that is.

He might be. But even if he is, I dunno how much credibility to give to it. Street Fighter 3 Third Strike’s endings seem to have lots of noncanon easter egg appearances. In Makoto’s ending, I hear you can see Shadaloo Cammy in the pile, for one thing

I may be wrong in this but in Muscle Bomber/Slammasters, when you beat the game doesn’t Ortega (I don’t think he had a name back then though) come out to challenge you? I am almost sure that all characters had this generic ending with Ortega. If I am remembering things correctly, then it would make sense for MB1 to actually take place in the continuity given the new info concerning Ortega’s background. At the end of MB1, Ortega comes back to his federation, then Ring of Destruction takes place. Not that it really matters considering Capcom seems to have thrown this series to the side.

Why did capcom created July and Juny?

Yeah, I do have the Strategy Guide with Titanic Tim’s picture. I’m REALLY busy right now so I won’t be able to scan and send it to anyone for a while. My friend does have a scanner and I’ve sent images to other threaders in the past. If Segfreid’s around, I’ll send it to his Tekkennufighter site so everyone can see it, like I’ve done in the past. Other than that, I would need people’s adresses to send them too. If interested, tell me your adress here, or send it to me at -

colladoa@sullcrom.com

It may be a few weeks from now or sometime in September at best. The reason I’m so busy right now is because I’m taking my first trip to Japan in September! Plaza Capcom is right next to the Airport I’m landing in! It’s about 2 stadiums wide with a bunch of crap to buy! And I’m taking lots of Money - in the thousands! Of course I’ll let you guys know how it goes when I come back. It’s gonna cost a lot, but after 9/11 I realize that life’s short and you gotta enjoy it while you can.

And thanks for the clarity on the whole Gotetsu/Gouki/Gouken/Ken /Ryu/Gouken’s daughter deal.

At least in the Super Nintendo version, the generic ending for SMB1 has three random guys coming out saying “You’re not so tough!” then challenging you, then something like “The fight for defending the title is endless!” or… something like that. I dunno if one of them is Ortega, but I’d be a bit surprised since those three random guys are portrayed as… well, three random generic guys  But then again, I don’t know what Ortega looks like, either. Ack!

Heh, if it matters or not in the grand scheme of things, I don’t mind. All details big and small, I eat them right up and plop them in :stuck_out_tongue:

Who knows why Capcom did a lot of things? I imagine Juni and Juli and the Dolls were originally just meant to fully flesh out Shadaloo Cammy’s story more (though by the home versions, they sort of got a story of their own in a way. Still plays second fiddle to Cammy’s, though).

Muahahahaha! Everyone loves shopping for franchise junk! And I’m serious when I say that. Lucky!

Tiamat, are you sure you’ve never seen Victor Ortega before? He’s the guy from the intro of SMB1 and he’s the last dude you wrestle in SMB2. He kinda’ reminds me of Hulk Hogan for some odd reason.

Here’s the ending for the SNES version of SMB1:

In tag team mode, it says how the champs realize how hard it is to retain the titles and that the battle for it never ends. In one on one mode (Haggar’s ending), Haggar stands in the ring with both trophies and proclaims that he is the strongest in the CWA. Suddenly, the guy from the intro appears and says that he used to be the champ and that even though he isn’t as young as he used to be he can still defeat Haggar. Haggar says, “Finally, a real fight! Let’s show these young punks what wrestling really is.”

I used to have a ROM of SMB2. After I beat it, I got rid of it because I didn’t like it at all. Unfortunately, I don’t remember where I got it. I could probably find it again. After you defeat Ortega, it shows your character’s stats. That’s probably where Saiki got them from. I’ve asked this question before, but SAIKI, what’s Haggar’s age according the Jap. version of the Slammasters 1 Instruction manual?

Wow, weird. I beat the SNES version of Slammasters just one month ago with Haggar, and I got three guys saying to Haggar, “You’re not so tough!” then Haggar saying “Well, if it isn’t the three stooges! I"ll take you all on!” or… something like that. Maybe it was because I was playing on the easiest difficulty level in an attempt to beat the game quickly or something (and even then, it was a pain in the ass, LOL)

Whoa! That Hulk Holgan guy in the intro is Victor Ortega? I was always wondering who that guy was, since he wasn’t in the game as far as I could tell. That explains a lot O_o But… I’m not sure if any of the three guys who challenged Haggar in the ending I saw looked like that. I forget. Ack!

Slammaster is on Ultracade right?

AK, I think it is.

Also, isn’t one of the three guys in the SMB1 ending Rip Saber (Who, by the way, OWNZ TOTAL ASS in SMB2)? He’s the only BWA fighter that doesn’t really “act” evil.

I haven’t finished the game with Haggar yet, but when I do, I’ll tell you his ending.

cool I hope you finish it!!!

Ah, so that’s it? I wonder if those three guys were all guys that appear in Slammasters 2 then and I just didn’t realize it. That would be Ortega, Rip Saber, and… wonder who the third is. But… I don’t want to go beat that game again. Even on easiest difficulty, it was a pain in the ass, LOL.

Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure one of those guys was Ortega. At least… I THINK I remember thinking “Hey, one of those three guys is the Hulk Hogan rip-off!” when I saw that ending…

Rip Saber does seem cool from what I’ve looked at him on his movelist. But… I tend to like army guys that use army weapons like grenades and such :stuck_out_tongue:

You can still send pictures to me but I won’t be able to update in a while.

A recommendation: look for All About Capcom and SNK if you don’t have them already. All guidebooks are invaluable, even if you don’t know Japanese. But I guess you know this already ^_^.

If I went back there today I’d look for the Capcom design books as well. And loads of action figures.
